This is my go-to spot for breakfast and lunch. Conveniently located right next to the hospital and medical school, it's a great place for a quick bite on the go. The food here is priced VERY fairly and the quality never disappoints. The staff here are all super friendly and by now they know my name and order without me having to say anything. Around holidays, I recommend getting whatever pastry they decide to make, especially if it's the red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting they made for Valentine's Day - it was amazing. So my little foodie and I ate here yesterday because there was no school. We arrived around 10:30 a.m. First I must say parking is horrible. I almost started looking for another place to eat but if you are waiting for the train it's convenient. There were only a few people inside so we were able to choose our seats. I had tried to look up the menu ahead of time but it wouldn't open from the website. After a brief few minutes I decided on the shrimp omelette and nicely convinced the little one to get the scrambled eggs mixed with shredded flank steak. We didn't wait long for our food. My omelette came with home fries and a choice of homemade muffin. I choose the pumpkin. The omelette was ok. It could have used a little salt though. There wasn't a lot of shrimp in there but enough to call it a shrimp omellete. The home fries had good flavor. I asked for hotsauce and the waiter brought out there homemade version and bottled sauce. Their homemade hotsauce was different but not bad. I would use it on a sandwich but not an omelette. Meanwhile my daughter's food looked interesting. So in her best interest I sampled it for her. It was more like nachos accompanied with an unnecessary amount of sweet potato chips and guacamole. Her meal was tasty though but I must say the guacamole was one of the worst I've ever had. It was watery! That has to be guacamole sin. We both nibbled on the pumpkin muffin which was warm and pretty good. My decaf coffee was delicious so that's always a plus. So service wasn't bad food was ok. All in all I would come back to try other things on the menu but not go out of my way to come back...mostly because of the lack of parking. read more

We had a great brunch at chef's corner this morning! Started out with some coffee and I'll be honest, it was the worst part of the meal. Initially it came out watery and when we asked them to remake it, it wasn't much better. Might be wise for the owner to invest in better coffee beans. From then on it was outstanding! I ordered the spicy Italian sausage frittata. It looks bland, but the taste was outstanding! The sausage was great and the spices + cheese they add was delicious. My fiancé and her mom got the homemade granola and were happy with it. Her dad got the whole wheat French toast which was a big portion and looked great. Everyone was satisfied with the meal! I've been here for lunch and their sandwiches are great too. I'd say it's a must try for people on the area read more

Go to spot if you're in the neighborhood. I don't think I'd come here if I weren't. The food was good as was the service. Coffee wasn't bad. Judging from the customers, this place acts more like a deli than a true restaurant with the hospital traffic. I had the pumpkin homemade muffin and it was very nice. Please don't get me wrong, the food is good I just didn't get the feel of a true restaurant. Perhaps it was because I came in during the weekday in the morning. Went to this place on a weekday for breakfast because of the reviews. I am new to the area so I was really excited. My boyfriend and I stopped in and took a seat. Someone came over and gave us menus, we took a little to decide what we wanted because it was the first time and everything sounded so good. The waitress came over to take our drink orders and we just asked for water for now since we were still deciding on drinks. Probably 20 minutes had passed and she had not come back to us yet. It was not busy otherwise i would understand. We had looked back at the waitress to see if she forgot or noticed us. She went to go take a new tables order and they even got their food before we got to order!!! That was the last straw so we walked out. I've never done that before in my life. The worst part of it all was that no one even realized we walked out. Never going back again. Went to the pizza place a few doors down as it was already almost lunch time and it was amazing. I rode the LIRR out of Mineola today and stumbled upon this place as one of the alternatives was closed for the holiday (President's Day). I was looking to grab a quick breakfast before the train. I had an egg wrap with sausage, cheese and sauteed onions. It was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Co-owner Maryellen was there and she seemed enthusiastic about the restaurant ... and rightfully so. I plan to return soon, perhaps for weekend brunch which looks appealing on the menu. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunchtime coffee with a coworker who ordered eggs and bacon. Seems like they do breakfast all the time which is a plus. It was a nice day so they opened the front walls and it was like we were dining outside. My review seems to have disappeared. But in Long Island, this place I will drive near or far to eat their poached eggs Benedict with salmon! It's just that good and never fails. Service is amazing. The woman staff always knows what I ordered and when I used to live in the neighborhood I was a regular and she was amazing! Hope she still works there. If she does, you'll know who she is, she's such a sweetheart! Still haven't found a replacement when I have those cravings for Eggs Benedict so I'm sure to come back there again soon. As a local resident (within walking distance), this was my 2nd time. Mineola has a lack of morning breakfast locations, especially on the weekends. The food is good, not amazing. The prices are high compared to 2 other locations in immediate are. The menu is very small in what it has to offer. Last thing I'll say, if you're charging these prices, improve your coffee!!! Very, very unhappy. Grabbed a salad here while waiting for my bus. When I got to school to eat it, I took it out of the plastic bag they'd packed it in and it all fell out of the paper bag they'd put the salad container in. They hadn't closed the salad container, it had fallen out, gotten the bag so wet it just fell apart. Plus, it was a take out order and they gave me no cutlery. Had a day off work and decided to treat myself to lunch at this small unassuming restaurant in Mineola. The reviews I had read were very good and I was hoping there was finally a place in Mineola where the food was better than average. Well......I was defintely NOT dissapointed! I decided to have the "Chefs Burger". Wow. Black angus STUFFED with shredded flank steak, avacado and oaxacan cheese on a brioche bun. Let me tell you, probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! I had it with fries. Although you also have a choice of soup or salad. A good deal for $11.00 considering the amazing taste of the burger. I will be treating myself to lunch here alot in the future. If they can make a burger taste this good, I can't wait to try the other menu selections. Visited chef's corner on a Sunday for brunch. Cute place but quiet. I ordered the spicy italian sausage frittata and my friend had the shrimp omlette. and since we went during brunch they offered a side of toast or a muffin. Go with the banana nut muffin, they slice it and toast it. the frittata was a little salty for my taste but still delicious and the shrimp omlette was different, the shrimp is chopped into tiny pieces and the corn adds a nice bite to it. Have eaten here three times and it's been a consistently great place to eat brunch. My wife loves the quesadilla with steak and orders it every time. All the brunch options are delicious and you can't make any mistakes when choosing. Came with the whole family and tried many of the dishes. The hot pepper sausages are an especially good choice of side. The dishes are your usual American brunch food with great twists that make them different from the usual.
