On a recent visit we stopped in for Brunch. This place can get crowded during the season so put your name on the waiti g list via yelp before you arrive. For Covid they space everyone out safely and everyone is masked up. The menu is large and the food is on the heavy side so if you're watching your weight I wouldn't recommend this place. I had the. Ran Omelettle which was loaded with crab meat. It was good but could have used aome seasoning. The Buffalo Wings are a signature dish here and they're pretty good. Visited 2x over the weekend we were in area. A tale of two visits. No wait to be seated. 1st time - great service. Friendly and timely. 2nd time - we had to hunt down our server, food took longer and wasn't as friendly. Not busy both times. Both times: The food was good. Kids got the egg platter with a side of sausage (to share) and plain ol pancakes...and of course they loved it. I had the Gringorito - scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, bacon, sausage, jack cheese in a soft white tortilla, with sides of salsa, sour cream and homefries (very good) and California Breakfast Burrito - egg whites, chicken sausage, home fries, avocado, cilantro and pepper jack cheese all stuffed into a sundried tomato wheat tortilla served with sour cream, salsa and a side of sliced watermelon (meh). I also tried the Farmhouse Scramble Melt - scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, mushrooms, bacon, sausage, ham and potatoes, smothered in cheddar, with a buttermilk biscuit (tasted good). Their prices were good. If you go for lunch/dinner, they're known for their wings and tons of different sauces. When you pay your bill, they'll give your kids tattoo's which is cool! Yay! Great wings in Jersey, finally. I'm from Buffalo and have been on the search for wings. I've gone up north and to NYC, which have very good wings, from people who are from Buffalo funny enough, but they're just so far. Chicken or the Egg had been on my bookmarks list for so long, and even though it is still an hour away, my boyfriend and I decided to come just for lunch. I ordered my wings naked with killer beesting, and they were spicy, a little more spicy than I would have liked but the original hot didn't pack in that same kick. I also tried a little bit of their ludicrous and damn, that was SPICY. I love spicy food and have a pretty good tolerance but definitely would not want to order that. My family has been visiting LBI since I was an infant. And before that, my parents had been visiting since they were teens. The chicken or the egg, best known to to those who frequent as "Chegg" has always been one of our favorite stops. While we vacation, we easily order at least three times within the week. All these years, I basically stick to the wings. Either the breaded wings or the boneless tenders, that is my go-to. But the sauces, wow what a variety, and all so amazing in their own way. I'm personally partial to the mediyumm which is a more traditional buffalo flavor and average heat. But then there's the Swamp sauce, a sweet and spicy Cajun bbq sauce that I have never found anywhere else. I always get a tub of the sauce at the end of vacation to take home to use for the year. Now, my dad is partial to the beesting sauce, a sweet and lightly spicy honey sauce. Also delicious in its own right. While the flavors are always epic, today I wanted to share my five star review because Chegg was part of my big day this weekend. I am a COVID bride, who had to cancel all my wedding plans. In lieu of the original plan, my fiancé and I wanted to get married on LBI where we first said I love you to each other, and our small celebration afterward would include all of our LBI favorites - so naturally Chegg was a big component. We enjoyed this classic LBI breakfast spot. The menu has lots of choices, including some smaller portions, which is much appreciated. A half Belgian waffle with strawberries was excellent and their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. Their "home fries" are deep-fried, not everybody's favorite. Good prices, and good service. Oh CHeGG, the best buffalo wings in South Jersey. Big fan of this place. Lots of sauces and rubs and they've figured out how to make buffalo transcend breakfast, lunch and dinner. Definitely not the healthiest of places but that's not why you go here. I miss being inside and the atmosphere and look forward to post Covid dining. They seem like they're doing a great job with the minimal space they have outside on the sidewalk. I personally love the breakfast wrap with buffalo egg cheese and turkey bacon (I sub for turkey bacon bc I do not dine on swine). Also the boneless and regular wings you can't go wrong. Little tip: You can pop on the waitlist on Yelp to avoid waiting for a table and crowding the sidewalk as well. I rated it a 3 star until we found out our daughter's last pancake had a green imprint on the bottom of it. After investigating a little we noticed it was black but also green too. the dark spots were all over it, like mold at first glance. Asked for manager, he asked cooks, they said nothing. Manager told me he doesn't know what it is. He could have been more apologetic about the situation maybe offered us something gift card/ t shirt. He did say we can take the pancakes off the check but my grandfather paid already. i just wanted to get to the bottom of it. Anyways we noticed the spatulas had plastic green handles on them meaning the cooks got melted plastic on grill and then cooked my daughter's pancakes on top. The manager was off putting young and inexperienced he really didn't want to deal with the burnt plastic in my kids food. We had no greeting when we walked in. No designated host, wasn't busy at all waiting 5 mins until we got some eye contact. Chicken tenders seemed frozen nothing freshly battered it seemed. No one helped clear table after we finished sat and talked. We spilled a drink on our table and got handed some rags to soak it up after they saw us struggle and use napkins. Just not really any initiative or action from staff to help out at that moment. The manager should have been more apologetic and offered to pay for more than the 7 dollars plastic kids meal as the solution. read more

Stopped by as a party of four on New Years Day. They were packed (I can only imagine this place in-season) so we expected a long wait, but we were told only 20-30 minutes. However, we did end up waiting at least 40-45 minutes. Fortunately, we found some parking in the street right out front so we could wait in the car, though their speakers weren't loud enough to hear if our party was being called, so after some time we did have to squeeze inside to listen for our name. Drinks were brought quickly, and all sodas, coffee, and even iced coffee were endless- and everything was pretty good, as well. I ordered the avocado toast and the caprese wrap. My fiancé ordered the Mexican breakfast, my sister had pancakes, and her fiancé had an omelette. My avocado toast came freezing! My sister's pancakes were so cold that she couldn't melt and spread the butter, so she just took them to-go so she could heat them up and enjoy them at home. Her fiancés omelette was also cold, as was his side of buffalo wings, (and his butter didn't melt on his cold toast either), so he took his food to-go as well. My fiancé enjoyed his Mexican breakfast, which he said wasn't really cold but it wasn't hot either. We did have to wait a while for food, which is understandable. The door also kept opening and being held open, which made the whole place incredibly freezing. Aside from being cold though, the food wasn't bad and everything came exactly as ordered. Came here for breakfast after driving into town for a wedding - we weren't able to be seated until our whole party arrived which wasn't ideal, but fine. We were seated in a booth in the back which was nice - our waitress was friendly and the food was quick and good. Coffee was good too. I had an omelet and it was just what I needed before a long day. I absolutely enjoyed my experience at chicken or the egg, it's clearly a Long Beach Island staple. It sounds like it's pretty crowded in the summer, and going preseason we were able to pick up some food for takeout. It seems like a classic diner menu. We ordered appetizers and the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the chicken finger basket. The chicken finger basket came with special sauce options unique to the chicken or the egg diner. Is small on the outside and big on the inside with plenty of seating. there are parking spots around the street and neighboring streets although it might be hard to find some parking here and it is also near a lot of shopping and of course right on the water in LBI. As there is an extensive menu, I will have to come back and try many more things here in the future. I would absolutely recommend! read more

My family and friends have been here countless times. Always consistently good. Started off with a cup of New England Chowder. The soup was so thick I could stand my spoon up in it. It was delicious. Two of us had the Eggs Benedict over crab cakes. We were a bit underwhelmed. The eggs were cooked perfectly but the crab cakes were definitely missing something. They were also very soggy. My girlfriend ordered the Turkey club which she was very happy with. My other friend ordered an egg white omelet with veggies. Huge portion. She also had the sweet potato fries which were seasoned perfectly and had the best crunch. This is a great place for wings which we ordered to take home. They have 18 different types of sauces. Ok so I was brought here was a local... was told I just HAD to come to wing night while I was in LBI for the day. Locals call this place " The Chegg" Wing night is Wednesday nights - you get 5 wings ( naked or breaded) in whatever sauce you want for $3.00/plate. Anyway I was told we should get there early because supposedly it is insane on wing night. I was told it starts at 4pm ... so we got there at 430 and we were told the wait was 2 HOURS!!! Holy ishhh! Anyway they put us on the list and what's cool is that if you have the Yelp app- you can check how many people are ahead of you. We ended up walking around , shopping and played arcades etc until it was time. This place seems likes it's always packed! It has a local feel to it. Place was comfortable. As far as the wings- there are several sauces you can choose from- similar to Buffalo Wild Wings but I think the wings are better here. Man vs Food was here and tried the hottest wing sauce here lol. I like that show Anyway I tried the Beesting, the Santos sauce , the Garlic spicy and the original hot and they were all really good! I have to admit I'm not really a fan of eating off bones.
