REALLY happy with these guys. Collin and Brent were amazing - I've been putting off having my fireplace inspected (and consequently nearly froze to death in that big snowstorm a few years back) because I was terrified of what I'd find up there. The former owners of my home weren't exactly tender and loving with it, so I was worried they might have stuffed a raccoon or something up there. Imagine my surprise when Collin came in, said hello, laid down a tarp, stuck his head up the fireplace and said "everything looks great". I asked him to repeat himself, because I couldn't believe it. Collin explained everything (the inspection process and what they were looking for) and then answered all my questions (all three bazillion of them... because I have never had a fireplace before and images of my house going up in flames have been firmly planted in my head ever since the home inspector said "get it inspected by a certified specialist") before also measuring for new screens (ours are completely broken - though not by us. Thanks, former owners!) Brent was very friendly as well, though I saw less of him because he was the roof guy. Overall I'm really pleased and would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone. I definitely know who I'm calling next year to get my fireplace cleaned and inspected! read more

Lenny came out last week and I was really impressed with how he and his helper (sorry, forgot his name), got out of their van wearing face masks over their mouth AND noses', came in my home being very polite, confirmed that what I asked for was what they were there to do, got to work right away and made sure to not make a mess and cleaned as he went. I'd like to add that I had another company come out a month prior and they were immediately "stumped" on how to remove the soot/creosote from my wood stove and said they had to come back with the proper vacuum hose next week. I watched as Lenny looked at what was the other companies "issue" and within 20 seconds or so found the alternative/proper way to clean it. His patience to answer all my questions and explain everything was greatly appreciated. They will be the ones I call first next time ! read more

This is a firm that knows their specialty and provides EXCELLENT customer service. Jud, the vice president of the company, showed up to provide a quote for the repair of my chimney on the day and at the time promised (even though he was traveling from Sumner to Kent). The quote was fair and the workmen showed up on the day and time as promised. I was assured that even though the job was being scheduled as the rainy season approached that their technicians knew their jobs and they would erect scaffolds and tarps to deliver a completed chimney that was shortened, tucked, liners inserted, and caps put on the flues. THEY DELIVERED. It is an old home and the technicians even swept the chimney. It seemed that the chimney had never been swept since the home was built in 1941 by the amount of debris that was dislodged. They gave me a price and said between 10-12 on Saturday and they called me at 9:50 and were here promptly at 10:00. The guys were very professional and very friendly. First off, I want to thank Eric and his team for helping us. Our wood insert was improperly installed over 6 years ago and had gotten progressively worse to were the fireplace would NOT burn. Smoked us out of the house. For those of you who have experienced this, you know, very poor draft. We had a number of other so called "chimney specialist" check it out. They swept the chimney, added chimney "tops", etc. Our problem never got better, it kept getting worse. Eric's team came out, looked at the chimney top, took our wood insert out and the improperly installed vent pipe. The installers had vented our wood insert 3 or 4 feet above the insert into our 1940 era chimney. The vent was nearly plugged with soot, the chimney just above the vent pipe had a beehive like structure of tar. It was a fire waiting to happen and potentially burn our house down. Eric's team (thanks to Zach and Brent), came in today and installed a vent pipe all the way to the roof. It was a difficult install, due to two 90 degree bends in our old chimney. Eric's team prevailed and our wood stove operates with NO smoke into our house. The fire is easily controlled like it should have over 6 years ago. These folks are truly Chimney Specialist. We will have Chimney Specialist sweep our chimney and check our wood insert, yearly. From this day forward. They earned our appreciation, respect and loyalty. read more

I can't believe I am the first person to rate these guys. Really? Here's my story. I needed my chimney cleaned. I did my research and went with the guy who has the fanciest website & sounds like he knows how to do it better than anyone else. He got to my house, but wouldn't touch my chimney because the wood stove insert needed to be pulled out to do a proper job & he didn't want the liability. He charged me nothing, though, so he has my respect & thanks. Next I called the guy closest to my house. He came out, swept my chimney, and insisted that I didn't need to have the insert pulled out. As a result, the stuff that he swept was now on top of the insert (unseen), and got sucked up my chimney the next time I made a hot fire. This caused the cap to clog and I ended up with smoke rolling out of the interior my house (all doors & windows open on a cold day) and the CO detector going off. NOT COOL. I finally called The Chimney Specialists. Two guys came out. They pulled out my wood stove insert, sucked up all of the junk from on top and behind that the other guy had insisted wasn't there (several inches thick). They also got all in behind & vacuumed out the smoke shelf, which catches things that fall back down the chimney (like 1/2 burnt paper). They were in & out in just a little while. No fuss, no muss. They were polite & thorough, and even cared whether my cat got out. 5 stars. read more

I just bought a house built in the 60's and wanted to get the chimney checked out and swept. The two technicians from the Chimney Specialists came out and swept the chimney. They were on time. The sweep consisted of 5-10 minutes of brushing the chimney from the top and another 10-15 minutes of brushing from the bottom and vacuuming everything out with a shop vac. The problem was the inspection (or basically lack thereof). They did do a visual inspection, but I felt like our home inspector (from when we bought the house) was more thorough. They did give me an estimate on fixing a problem I asked them about, but failed to mention the moss growing on the side of the chimney (probably not a major issue but something it would have been nice to mention) or the rusting on the flashing. I basically got "everything is fine" as an answer to anything I asked them about the chimney. While I'm sure most of the chimney is fine, I'm also sure an almost 50 year old chimney is not in perfect shape! I also tried asking about any way to upgrade the chimney to be more air tight when not in use and was basically told they didn't know anything. To cap it off, one of the technicians went to inspect the gas insert in our downstairs fireplace. I had been told in advance that they don't service them (which was fine), but then I don't understand why he was touching it. He probably spent 10 minutes trying to light the pilot light and couldn't get it. Even after I showed him where the instructions were, it still didn't help and he concluded it was broken. 5 minutes after they left I tried to light it myself and it came on without a problem by following the instructions... Overall, mediocre service that was not, in my opinion, worth the $175 price tag. read more

I was so impressed with the service from this company. I had a very bad experience recently from another chimney sweep company, and hired Chimney Specialists to come to make sure the job was done. As it turns out my 2 chimneys had not been cleaned more than a couple feet inside the chimney and one that I had inspected and was given the okay to burn actually had a gaping hole and was deemed unsafe by the chimney specialists! 1.0 star rating 3/18/2017 We had them out in March of 2016, because we had a stain in our living room ceiling, above our fireplace, and suspected a leak. The technician, from their Gig Harbor location, went up, checked everything, and said "all good", minus the fact that once the weather was dry, we should have the chimney sealed. He came back in the summer and did that. Fast forward to January of 2017 - HUGE stain in ceiling above fireplace, water dripping down wall, put my hand up to feel ceiling and my finger went through the soaked plaster. Had our roof guy and our contractor out - could not believe that Chimney Specialists ignored cracked and missing mortar between bricks, etc. We are now looking at a $3700 repair, between chimney mortar being DONE RIGHT this time, (it wasn't done at all last time, because Chimney Specialists said the mortar was "just fine" - and we're going to have to have the living room ceiling around the fireplace taken out and re-plastered. Won't know until we open up the ceiling, whether or not we have wet insulation in wall, etc. I contacted Chimney Specialists and sent them the video our roofer took of how bad the chimney was. Spoke to their sales/marketeing guy, (Jed? Jeb?) who said they would review it. I've never heard from them again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! read more
