Tonight's visit was crazy. Got there at 745, decided to sit outside, nice area with fans blowing so that was a plus. Our waiter was a bit inattentive. Took over 10min for menus & water. We placed our entree orders after 25min of being seated. While waiting for about 40min, a severe storm started to form. At this point, we were ready to leave due to the long food wait but decided to get our food to go. Stood at the bar area for an additional 20min for our food. My crab cake platter was missing the side rice. So had to wait additional 10min for that. Mind you this was karaoke night (2nd & 4th Thursdays) about 3 ppl performed. I think the staff was overwhelmed due to the busy crowd. But to wait over an hour for food and STILL had to get it to go is crazy. And on top of that, menu states if you order ahead they charge 15% fee. Ppl probably prefer to take out because service and wait. Please do better because we don't have many local options in upper Marlboro. Updated: Once I got home, I noticed there was no salad dressing for my side salad and no sauce for my crab cake as requested. I've never been to a restaurant where you order 20 minutes before other guests arrive and they get their food before your appetizers! Worst experience and wouldn't recommend this to anyone! My daughter graduation dinner was just embarrassing and upsetting for people who traveled as far as they did. Staff have no attention to detail or even help out a struggling server. This was our first time visiting Old Town on a Sunday for brunch. The atmosphere was nice overall, especially the live jazz musician, which really set a great vibe. However, from the start, the service felt disorganized. There was confusion at the front with seating, and guests were being moved around while staff seemed to be sorting out table assignments in real time, which came off a bit unprofessional. After being seated, we waited about 10-12 minutes before being acknowledged by our server. During that time, service already felt slow across the board, as even nearby tables were experiencing delays. When our server (a lighter-skinned woman with twists pulled back into a ponytail) came over, we were told several menu items were unavailable after we had already attempted to order them, including drinks and fresh fruit that were still listed on the menu. As someone who has worked as a server before, I feel communication like this should be handled before service even begins. Items that are 86'd should be communicated during pre-shift meetings and clearly shared with guests upon greeting the table so they can make informed choices upfront. It helps avoid frustration and gives guests alternatives before ordering. Our food also came out not hot at all--it honestly felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while and was not up to standard. Overall service remained inconsistent, with limited check-ins and needing to flag staff multiple times. The crab dip, however, was a no for me. It was a little too runny, so I skipped it. Now the lamb chops... babyyy, they did not come to play. Perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and absolutely delicious. I will say, the food took a little while to come out, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. But our waitress made up for it. She was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing, which definitely helped the overall experience. All in all, I would come back, especially for those lamb chops. This hole in the wall is located on Main St near the court house, it isn't very big and can possibly be missed. The food was pretty good and the drinks were too. My server was great-once I captured his attention. I was sitting for about 20 minutes and no one had come by to even offer water. I saw the waiters pass me multiple times and I would say--oh here she/he comes, but she/he never did. I finally flagged down a guy server who ended up being great. I ordered a chicken and broccoli pasta and added shrimp. It was ok, nothing to rave about. My friend arrived and ordered a salmon pesto penne. We ended up mixing both pastas together and the 2 sauces combined changed the game----yum.. If hole in the walls are your type of vibe, this would be a perfect spot to visit if you haven't already. I was excited to experience Olde Towne Inn as many friends recommended it. It was a Friday afternoon, earlier than happy hour - we thought we'd grab a seat because we had heard it can get crowded. So that mission was accomplished. We then proceeded to wait for a while. When the one waitress, who was also the hostess, who also worked as the bartender finally came to us, she gave us water and then we didn't see her for another 10 minutes. We ordered drinks and each showed up separately after another long wait. Oooh weee, our multi-talented server should retire from bartending. My drink was lukewarm made of (thick) peach nectar and lots of alcohol; not good at all. Me and my sis looked at each other and in unison decided we'd better quit while we were ahead. We asked for the check but the waitress said it was on her. I think she knew what was up. I hated for that to be my first experience at OTI but it was. My cousin & I stopped in for lunch today, coming home from a trip to Suitland. The place was not too busy. Someone took our drink orders right away and brought us menus. We had a burger and a club sandwich. The fries were good. The staff was really friendly and pleasant. This is an old timey café type place down the street from the Court House. The food is always a hit! They give nice big portions and we usually come here for brunch! I'm always between blackened salmon and chicken and waffles - I end up choosing chicken and waffles! The syrup and mixture of the food together is phenomenal! They also has a live jazz artist which adds a nice touch to brunch! It is such a vibe! OTI has quickly become one of my favorite spots-it honestly feels like Cheers, where everyone knows your name (and what you love to eat!). I've been here several times now, and every visit gets better. I've had the mussels twice (with the garlic sauce) & the peach cobbler twice, and let me tell you, both are worth coming back for again and again. The mussels are perfectly cooked and served in a broth that's rich & flavorful. As for the peach cobbler? It's warm, buttery, and comforting in all the best ways. Tastes like something your grandma would make if she had a serious talent for desserts. What keeps me coming back, though, is the people. The team at OTI is friendly and welcoming, so you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in. Brittany is an absolute gem, always warm, attentive, and full of great recommendations. Located just steps from the courthouse in Upper Marlboro this location is tucked away and super unassuming. Had my friend not invited me here, I would've never known it existed. Parking was easy enough on the street and the restaurant was fairly empty minus a few folks at the bar. We started with: Lemon drops x2 - 10/10 - the blacks know their way around liquor. That's all I have to say about that. Cornbread - 10/10 - served with a rich honey butter I could've eaten this alone and been satisfied. The consistency was perfect. Calamari - 5/10 - a little on the chewy side for me; I wouldn't order again. Salmon Platter - 100000/10 - this salmon made me moan audibly. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans and a butter pecan sauce. The butter pecan sauce was something I was not sure would pair well with the fish but it worked and I would bathe in it if I could. Lamb chops - 10000/10 - take me to the king, please. That's it, that's all. Ask for them and then send me some money for putting you on :o). The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the smell. There was a distinct sour smell upon walking in. Maybe someone didn't dump some sitting water behind the bar or something wasn't properly cleaned but it was unsettling. OTI is located on in a small historic district of Upper Marlboro. I had the power combo breakfast. It was great. Coffee was fine as well. This is just a cute little place with great food at good prices. What makes OTI a destination besides the great food is the staff. They care. They are attentive. Our server Keith was top notch. After eating we took our coffee to the outside eating area so we could talk. The lovely live music did make chatting inside difficult. Keith followed us out and set up the awning. He also cleared the long couch because it had rained the night before. We sat comfortably in the shade and enjoyed our time together. Keith checked on us as did the owner. We were very impressed. I stopped in last night to hear BJ Simmons Jazz trio. It is definitely a hidden gem in Prince George's County. We were seated in a booth upfront and that was perfect. For my drink, I ordered a hennessy side car. They didn't have Hennessy so they brought out dulce. Boy it was strong! For appetizers, we had the catfish. It was a big portion but it wasn't really seasoned all that well. For my entree , I had a seafood Cobb salad. It took over 20 minutes for it to come out but when it did , it was massive! My other half had the meatloaf and veggies for side. It was pretty filling. It's a decent size place and a great place to connect, have a drink, see the locals, and vibe out. I took off a star as there was not enough servers working to seat guests timely and bring out the food within a reasonable hour. I believe after 5, there is a free parking lot across the street. I know. 3 stars. Service was just entirely too slow. I had to extend 2.5 hour parking and there were only 6 of having lunch. Food: 4 - 4.5 stars Waitress: 4 stars because she owned her mistakes. I've been here several times during my pre-Yelp days. Why did we come here? It's 8 minutes from our family's home. We were starving. Hadn't been too long arrived to Upper Marlboro. Surely by getting there early we wouldn't be all day eating. Wrong! Food came out hot. When our waitress Missy took our entree orders she did not write them down. And thus begins our tale of woe. My catfish platter came out 15-20 minutes after Bae's crab Mac and cheese with a catfish strips app and cuzzo's burger. I don't eat seafood. So I did not partake of the calamari appetizers. I nibbled a tiny bit on the catfish nuggets and found some Mac with no crab. I had to keep my blood sugar up. Ya girl was hawngry! Cuzzo has it rough. He ordered a strawberry margarita with a sugared rim. He didn't get his sugared rim. He also wanted onions in his burger. Grilled. Sliced. Chopped. Now that I look at the photo, I not too sure he got those. We all ordered at the same time. I asked for a loaded baked potato instead of fries. I suspect that was the hold up? Yes, the fish was fresh out the grease, another saving grace. The cole slaw had a nice crispness to it. Not sure why it was rationed. For me, match the container size and portion. Don't bring me a half filled container. Bae's sister-in-law ordered the Mussels. She was sitting at the other end of the table. For as long as it took those to arrive after my food these must have been straight from the ocean. She and Bae's brother ate a hearty breakfast earlier. Bae's brother only had a soda and some of their calamari order. We had to put out an APB for the cornbread Bae wanted to have with his meal. That showed up when we'd finished eating. Either the other server was taking our food to other tables or our waitress did a horrible job with getting our order to the kitchen. Please, Yelpers just pack your patience. The food is worth A wait but this kind of wait? Not quite but walking out to no food options wasn't gonna be the move. Pro tip: Don't order the meatloaf. Bae only successfully got this the first time we went. He is 1/4 now. In fact, expect them to be out of several items. Before you order have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice ready. Pro tip 2: Bring cash. Just left the restaurant after having a quiet dinner with my wife. Towards the end I had to summons the waitress to ask her to remove a bug/roach from our seating area. After several attempts she was successful. My wife and I both inspected our belongings upon leaving. The food was good and the restaurant wasn't far from home. We hadn't been there in years and was surprised that it was extremely empty all night. We spent $78 but the night was ruined by the unwelcome guest. I don't have confidence in the cleanliness of the kitchen, etc so we will permanently remove them from our list but wish them the absolute best! read more
