We stumbled upon this place when looking for a nice but quick meal. It is located inside the American Hotel and I loved the JFK decor! We ordered the cheeseburgers and the burboun chicken. Honestly surprised with the amount of reviews of this place. I understand it's a hotel bar/kitchen but the staff is awesome and so attentive! We didn't have any food but the cocktails were great! The bartender is super knowledgeable and can make you any cocktail based on your taste. Will come again. read more

The atmosphere was really good even though it is in the lobby of a hotel. Marco was or server/bartender. My daughter and I walked to it from our hotel. The ham and cheese croquets with the raspberry gastrique was so delicious. The pimento cheese deviled eggs were good, but as I suggested to the kitchen, they would have been better if the salsa was a dollop of fresh salsa on top instead of mixed in with the filling. The bacon jam on top of the eggs was amazing and fresh. As for drinks, the Buckhead Betty was beautiful and tasty. The Paloma was outstanding as well. Very reasonably priced in addition to the yumminess. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

The cloakroom is your normal hotel bar and restaurant. So needless to say, it's overpriced and it's not that great. $5 for a side of fries is a little over the top for me. But then again, it's a hotel. The staff is pretty cool though. The night manager was really cool. I liked her a lot. read more

This here local decided to check out this "not a locals spot" and that's probably a pretty legit assessment. The lunch crowd was sparse and I'm assuming most of the restaurant traffic comes from folks staying at the hotel (and indeed you can charge your bill to your room if desired). We wanted to come try it anyway because of the sweet Barracuda parked out front. We were kind of hoping it would mean more of the car theme inside, but it didn't. (Psst! do more of the car theme inside!) But all of that is neither here nor there since we're here for the food, right? And the food was quite lovely. There are some very interesting things on the menu (bacon-wrapped dates, yes please! a protein bowl? looks promising!) ... but I stayed pretty basic today. Had a cup of the tomato basil soup (delicious) and a house salad with grilled chicken. It's kind of hard to mess up a house salad with grilled chicken, and so they didn't. But I was also pleasantly surprised with just *how fresh* each of the vegetables tasted, as if they were just picked that morning or something. Very flavorful. And the lemon vinaigrette dressing was very good too. My friend got the duck confit sliders and let me try a bite: OH SO GOOD. Since this is right around the corner from the office, I will go back and get those myself soon and try some of their other offerings. So, yes, absolutely. I'd say come give this place a try. If you're staying here, go ahead and eat here and I'm sure you'll enjoy it (can't be said for all hotel restaurants, that's for sure!). The streetcar stops right outside too, for easy access if you're riding it [I know no one rides it but gosh darn I wish they would - love that streetcar!]. And there's a full bar here too with enough specialty cocktail recipes that everyone should find something they love. read more

This is a sweet little spot with nice ambiance. I stayed at the hotel for a conference and the staff and bartenders were all friendly ( each with their own twist on a Old Fashioned, but all good ). The food was excellent, as well - I had the ragout. read more

Overall not too bad for a hotel bar. Decent place for a meal for the solo traveler but not a hot spot for locals or tourists. My salmon over Caesar was very good - hit the spot. It was basically just bar service in the evening as no one was sitting in the dining area. The menu is simple with apps and short array of chicken, salmon and beef dishes. Again, this is definitely not a destination restaurant but suits the bill for a quick bite. read more

Came into the Cloakroom a few nights ago for dinner, and couldn't have been more disappointed. I ordered the wings, bacon wrapped dates, and the Turkey Avocado Club sandwich. As an avid fan of all three of these items, every one let me down. Out of the three, the wings were the best. The sauce was good and the blue cheese was as well, but the wings were somehow over cooked but not crispy (couldn't tell you how that happens). The bacon wrapped dates were very bland, and in all honestly did not have a distinguishable taste. Finally we get to the worst part of the meal, the sandwich. I couldn't eat anything but the turkey out of it because it was just too much. There were 3 layers of bread, poorly cooked bacon, lettuce tomato and a minuscule amount of avocado. Bar/Restaurant for The American Hotel. This hotel has become our "come to" for all our Atlanta United matches. We were disappointed after the MLS Championship match last year as we returned to the hotel after they stopped serving food. It was 39° and raining outside so we just retired to our room. This year, the MLS Round of 16 was played earlier in the day. We finally had time to have drinks & appetizers in the evening. Timothy was our bartender. Kelly had an awesome Old Fashioned. He made me a Coopers & Coke as well as a Huling Station & Coke. Both are bourbons. All our drinks were outstanding. Also, we had the Bang & Burn Onion Dip. Homemade chips and homemade onion dip. Oh. Oh. OH! Delicious! I asked for a spoon to get every ounce if the dip. Timothy!! We will see you when we come back! read more

Inside the American Double Tree Hotel. The first racially integrated hotel in America, this restaurant is seriously five stars! Had the shrimp and grits and wow what a bomb to my palette! This is my second time staying at the hotel, first time dining in and so happy I did. Everything made fresh in-house and absolutely delish! Ate dinner at the bar and what an awesome conversation with the bartender who gave me a load down of the hotels history and in fact that JFK, Martin Luther King Jr. And Hank Aaron all stayed here. History and experience all in the hotel and restaurant. Local or from out of town this is a must visit place in downtown Atlanta! read more

Ordered food to go at the end of the bar for the bartender to walk away without asking if I'd like a beverage while waiting. Didn't come back even after I sat at the bar and pulled out my credit card. Took to my room, opened to find soggy fries that were luke warm with no ranch and duck confit sliders with buns so greasy I couldn't eat them. That was 23 bucks thrown in the trash. read more

We went to eat based on the small amount of reviews and recommendations from where our group was staying. When we sat down, we ordered drinks to start. Two of us ordered whiskey sours, which once they came were some of the worst I've had (this includes cheap bars, but definitely the worst at a higher end restaurant). We asked to switch them out which the waitress gave us attitude and told us "the drinks on this menu are different, almost no one orders them because of that but you should have read it and known what you were getting." We politely rebuffed this statement and again were told we were wrong. Finally she switched our drinks for a Yuengling. We left and didn't ordered good after that. Terrible service, if that's indication of the food then I'm glad we didn't stay. read more

I love hotel bars of all kinds and the Cloakroom is definitely one of the more unique ones in Atlanta. It has a retro feel to it just upon walking it. They have around 6 smaller TVs behind the bar they range from old 60s tv shows and current sports going on. Loved all of their cocktails that I ordered and was reasonably priced. I would consider staying at that hotel for the accessibility to that bar. read more

Ate here twice in a row. The wings!!! THE WINGS! Get the wings!! Lots of meat on the bone. Crispy, and perfect sauce. The burger was just okay, had it in the restaurant. The greens were good! The flatbread pizza didn't travel well (soggy bread) but the tomatoes and cheese were fresh enough to eat as a melted caprese salad off the top. The bacon wrapped dates were heavenly, but just be aware it only comes with 3. And then, the service! The girls that both hosted and served were so great. Nice, warm, accommodating. We have been wanting to try this restaurant and finally got by. The signature drinks are fun and good! Harvey Wallbanger, Mai Tai, Manhatten, Tom Collins, drinks of the 60's! Presidential history, photos adorn the walls! Chicken wings, The Take (salmon dish), Shrimp and grits were all delicious. The menu is varied as well as the bar! After a long rainy day in Atlanta we thought a quick burger and to our room sounded great. We had to wait an hour for a table - while three available tables were in view. Overpriced, mediocre food. Had the chicken entree which tasted like supermarket roasted chicken, bland and tasteless. An attempt to dress it up by spooning tinned tomatoes over it was just a failure. The braised greens were tough and chewy, obviously reheated, and the minted zucchini, limp, overcooked and tasteless. Way overpriced for what is offered. Not worth a repeat visit at all. Suspect most of the restaurant traffic comes from hotel guests who don't want to stray too far looking for food. read more

The service here is exceptional. The crab cake appetizer was very good. Nice balance of crab to breading and the sauce knocked it out of the park. The truffle fries were excellent. The steak while cooked to my request had very little flavor and is laid on a bed of sauce with another sauce on top. The flavors did not work together in my opinion. I would suggest seasoning prior to cooking and forgetting about all the sauce or serving it on the side. read more

Way more than a hotel restaurant! The Cloakroom offers a chef-inspired, perfectly plated, yet home-cookin' wholesome kinda dishes (I can totally make this comment, during our 4 day stay we ate there 3 times!) They've got this '60's spy-themed decor down, complete with some awesome real-life black & white photos of captured spies. Even the drink menu sounds like it's from that era...when have you ever actually wanted to try and actually liked Galliano?!! We were treated to some top notch service and warm, friendly convo every single time, by everyone who works there...we actually returned our 2nd and 3rd days just to visit with the staff and tell them all about our day's adventures like they were old friends! Ha! Hope this note reaches them, just to share our thanks for a truly memorable ATL vaca! Thank you, Cloakroom crew, we're fans for life!
