I read about this place online and decided I wanted to come. This restaurant is known for replicating Tex Mex and Cajun cuisine from Texas and Louisiana. The servers are very courteous and friendly--they always checked in on me. I first started with a Mucha Lucha Lager--delicious, has a local flavor. A good compliment to white fish, which is what I had planned on eating. I chose the blackened catfish (please see my pic for the exact name) for my main course. The Cajun cream sauce was love at first bite. The blackened sauce is enveloped in the spices and it is balanced by a very slight tanginess. The main character of the dish is the catfish that rests on a bed of jasmine rice. The shrimp on top also covered in the sauce is a nice touch. The slices of green onion provide a crispness that counterbalances the richness of the sauce. Overall, fabulous dish. A vegetable medley was next to the dish--it is buttery and salty, which adds a nice surprise without distracting from the fish. When it comes to ambiance, I appreciate how easy it is to talk in the restaurant; the music is not loud at all. It might be a good place to bring a guest with you. Terrible service. There were a lot of staff members, but tables remained uncleared. One of the servers actually helped himself to some Tito's vodka right in front of me. He held the glass low to avoid the cameras, then strolled over towards the TV & drank it. I was tempted to alert the Manager, but decided he couldn't have cared less, as his other servers were all playing on their phones. Thankfully this wasn't our experience in other parts of Atlanta. After finishing a 3hr visit at the Georgia aquarium, we walked around for nearby restaurants to explore downtown Georgia to satisfy our hunger. We tried to go to a couple of places but there were at least 25-30min waits for a table. Then, we walked down the street and saw Dos Bocas with no line. This should've been a sign about how the restaurant really is. Our host/server immediately sat us at a table and gave us chips and salsa. We looked for our menu items we were going to order and did not see our waitress again for another 10 mins until we ordered our food. There were probably 2 other parties there before we sat down, but we somehow were waiting for 35+ mins for our food to come. The worst part was that another party that sat after us with the same number of people that ordered the same items as us got their food first. I figured they forgot to put in our order but other reviews are stating that this also happened to them in the past. It would've been nice to have more updates with our waitress of where our food was. Though I feel like my hunger might have made me sound more impatient, I wouldn't be as harsh if the food was actually good. My shrimp po boy was lacking in flavor and the bread was very dense, making it a hard sandwich to eat. The batter on the shrimp was also just okay, but fell off too easily when eating. Decided to try this place because it is attached to the hotel we were staying for the night. The place is loud and not very well kept. There was food on the floor that should have been swept up. I was excited to see a shrimp po'boy on the menu. I ordered the po'boy and my husband ordered the catfish and shrimp. The waitress was nice and attentive. She did sit down and talk to us awhile about the attitude of teenagers these days. Food came out and it looked delicious. However, the po'boy was mediocre. The shrimp didn't have much flavor. The fries were thin but a little overcooked. My husband really enjoyed his catfish but again his shrimp was flavorless. Was here in Atlanta for a conference. It was 10 min walk from springhill suites. It is also very close to the Georgia Congress center. There was no wait to be seated. They have tables on both floors and have patio seating. It is also right across from the aquarium. Fast service. I enjoyed the catfish entree. The beignets satisfied my craving. After spending the afternoon at the Coco Cola Museum my family and I were a lil hungry. Dos Bocas was right was near by and with no wait. Now we were all skeptical given that the restaurant was tex-mex/ Cajun. They brought out the complimentary chips and salsa....banging!!! It like the chips were seasoned with some sort of Cajun seasoning!! The salsa was nice, flavorful as well. My toddler was had his cup of salsa to himself he enjoyed it so much. I got the appetize chicken quesadilla deluxe with a side Cajun shrimp. That shrimp( not pictured)j was soo good. The batter was nicely seasoned and had great crisp!! The remoulade very nicely balanced, a tasty bit of spice and very slightly tart. Soo good. This quesadilla!! This was supposed to be a appetizer!! It was soo big i couldn't finish. I had been to Dos Bocas a while back when they first opened but hadn't been back since, so it was nice to have a second experience. Sat at the bar downstairs and was greeted right away by Bre. She was so pleasant, professional, and attentive. She immediately brought me some chips and salsa and I ordered the Enchilada Verde and the house Margarita (Avenue C Margarita). The enchiladas were very good (I like extra sauce and spicy so added some salsa and Valentina which kicked it up a notch). The rice was ok and the charro beans tasted more like chili than charro so minus one star for that. I also ordered a Lonestar Margarita and that was good as well. I must say in this economy, I really appreciate Mexican restaurants that provide guests with complimentary chips and salsa. All in all, this was a good experience so I would consider coming back. I just wish the restaurant could come to an arrangement with the parking company where diners can get their ticket validated or discounted to park in the attached deck as the rates are a bit high. read more

My wife and I recently visited Atlanta and stayed at the Omni hotel. After a couple of days we decided that we needed something different like old fashioned Tex Mex and then we discovered Dos Bocas within walking distance from the hotel, just on the other side of Centennial Park and we were pleasantly surprised. Dos Bocas is sort of a combined Tex Mex/Cajun place, just like we enjoyed when we were living on the Texas Gulf Coast. The salsa with chips was better than average and our entrees were great. Very Disappointed Honestly, I can't believe we spent $100 on just two plates of food and two drinks. The portions were incredibly small, the food was not good, and we left still feeling hungry. For the price, we expected way more. Definitely won't be coming back. My wife is Hispanic, my kids eat rice everyday. Our group ordered several items - the Picadillos nachos were a hit! Super flavorful with lots of toppings. We also had the steak and shrimp fajitas, the esquites, and beignets for dessert. Dos Bocas is located inside/adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn, which across the street from the College Hall of Fame and Olympuc Park. It is not either a Tex-Mex or a Cajun restaurant. Even if they say they are... When you are from there, you know what Tex-Mex tastes like. Maybe they grew up on the Stateline between Houston and NOLA? That will screw you up! Anyway, I had the chicken Enchiladas Verdes with rice and charro beans. It was actually good. However, the Enchiladas needed an actual Verdes sauce on top, and the rice was a tad bit dry. Beans tasted fine. The chips were fresh even if they did come out of a big bag into a hot box. The salsa was about the only Tex-mex about the meal. It was outstanding. It's not overly spicy at all. The bartender was on point and handmade the margarita to perfection. I want to give it 3.5 stars as its worth going back to, and it doesn't suck, but know before you go in what you are getting. I am in Atlanta on a business trip. This place is within walking distant to the hotel and has good reviews so three coworkers and myself decided to try it. Our waiter Darius recommended I try the Cajun blackened chicken. It was AMAZING! Their margaritas are tasty as well. My coworkers all enjoyed their meals as well. Wow what an experience... and not in a good way. We got there by 8pm had a 40 minute wait and then once we sat at our table and started ordering we were continually told they had sold out of and item or were out of almost everything. The restaurant closes at 11. This was very bad restaurant planning. It started with the salsa and chips you get once seated. Our server said that she scored our table of 5 the last bowl of salsa. My niece took that over for herself and left us all eating dry chips. We were able to get another bowl of salsa about 30 minutes into our meal. Not sure where she found it but I'm glad she did. Then when ordering my dad ordered fajitas. After placing the order our server came back and said they were out. When our food was delivered to the table our server informed my dad they were out of of rice so he got fries. Another server delivered my food and I wasn't even told/informed or compensated for there being no rice. We also asked for a side of sour cream for my nephews tacos and the were out. Now for the bill. We were charged for the side of sour cream we never got, for the kid drinks that were suppose to come with the kids meals and we added chicken to the kids quesadilla and were charged $6 for the chicken. It was the exact same thing as my nephew got for the kids tacos. I would have really appreciated if our server had informed us of the charge for the chicken and just told us to order the kids tacos instead. I did bring up to the server the kids drinks and sour cream and she removed them. I did add the chicken to the quesadilla so I took responsibility for that and paid for it. I ordered the Chicken Zydeco and I'm not normally a fan of Lemon Pepper but the sauce on this chicken was amazing. I would definitely recommend this dish. The Mexican Corn was highly recommended but I didn't find it to be as exquisite as described. The cheese is the best part of the dish. Our server was very genuine and helpful. She tried her best and I feel like the overall failure of a dinner wasn't her fault. It was poor planning on the kitchen staff. The restaurant had a full hour to be open after our meal and they were basically out of everything. The restaurant was in walking distance of our hotel. Super convenient. One of the best restaurants I've been to in Atlanta, and very accommodating to our large group! I worked with the restaurant to reserve a semi-private space for my group of 20+ coworkers while at Georgia World Congress Center for a conference (less than a 5-minute walk!). The space was a great fit for our group, the staff was spectacular, and the food and drinks were delicious (my favs were the Enchilada Verde, the sangria, the esquites, and the beignets). Matter in fact, got 2 of them. They were delicious. Chips were warm, thin and delicious. Salsa was nothing special. Ordered the blackened chicken. Did not come out as black as the pictures on here represent, but it was very juicy and tasty. The red beans and rice were accented by chunks of andoulie sausage which made them irresistible!
