This was another fantastic find for a meal. We kind of just wandered in here, not knowing if they were open or not. We had to wonder up the steps from the sidewalk to make sure it was open. Street level, it is hard to see up in here and it looked like no one was in the dining room. But when we got up there to look at the menu, we noticed that it was open and were greeted by the hostess. Still thinking that this place was empty and we were given the option to pick where we wanted to sit. We chose the bar once we knew it was an option. Then that's where we were clued in to how big this space was. Behind what we thought was the wall to the kitchen was actually the other side to the restaurant. Sitting at the bar was a good choice as we were greeted and off and running. After looking over the menu I went with the Taco Trifecta which allows you to choose three tacos from their list, excluding the lobster and birria. With that I chose the Baja Fish, Southern Comfort, and Mac Daddy. I added a side of tater tots to make it feel like a meal. My complaint, and this is my only complaint, is the price for a side here. For what I paid, I should have gotten more than eight tater tots. I know it's a side, but that is less than an order of fries at a fast food place. As far as the tacos, yum! I went through these in a particular order, in the order of how excited for them I was. It didn't hurt that I got one beef, one chicken, on fish. I started with the Baja Fish. White fish, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro and chipotle aioli. You could tell this was fresh, but the least favorite of the three for me. Then I dug into the Southern Comfort. Grilled chicken, cotija, grilled onions, fried pickles, and chipotle bbq sauce. What made me want this one was the fried pickles on it. The mix of flavors was amazing and this really worked. The Mac Daddy is basically a take on the Big Mac. Smashed burger batty, American cheese, special sauce, sesame seeds, shredded romaine, tomato, pickles and diced onions. This was by far my favorite. I really enjoyed this one. If I were to do this again, I might just get three of these. While dining I glanced around this place. How interestingly it was decorated. Then let your eyes glance up. That is when you will notice the decor and the tie in to the name. Mostly, if you just glance quickly, you'll notice the buckets. But look closer and you will notice the garbage cans, but what really got me was a mailbox used as a lamp shade. Totally unique. read more

Uhh I love the nachos honestly I can finish the entire serving myself and makes me so full. Now, I shouldn't have ordered three tacos because the nachos were too good to resist. Anywho, fajita taco the chicken looked juicy but it was dry. There was a little fly in my water, I asked waiter to get me a new water and she did. The restaurant is cute and in a nice location. Overall, good restaurant, great service and friendly waiters. We stopped by for dinner before the Florence and the Machine concert after driving most of the morning, so we were definitely hungry. The appetizers were good, but the main bowls were just okay. It felt like the protein was missing some flavor and kick. More concerningly, we believe one of the bowls may have given our friend slight food poisoning, as we hadn't eaten anything else that night. I did not know that Tin Lizzy is the nickname of the Model T. Do you blame me? It's not like I grew up in the early 1900s. If i did, I would be some bad ass grandpa still reviewing on Yelp at 118. This taco place named after a car is rather divisive from a review standpoint. On Google, crazy rave reviews, but on Yelp, mediocre would be an accurate description. By the time I ordered the food which was 9pm in the evening, I was just super hangry. Aside from an early breakfast, all I had all day was a donut and an ice latte. So whatever food that comes my way should be super delicious, right? The takeout took awhile to come. And the flavours were lacklustre and unauthentic. The first tell would be the tortilla. They were definitely store bought and were not corn tortillas. They were also a bit dry and hard. I had the grilled mahi mahi. The fish was ok, but overcooked. The biggest problem was the lack of sauce. Adding some salsa would have been nice. They were also very lazy with the avocado. They just put a wedge at the top of the taco filling. So every time i held onto it to take a bite, the avocado pops out. The other taco was the low country boil which is essentially a grilled shrimp taco. A lot of the taco does not match the menu description. They were supposed to use a spicy ranch sauce, but it felt like a really weak ranch with zero spiciness. They loaded up the taco with corn, but most of the other stuff including peppers and tater tots are not noticeable. Tim Lizzy is to me one of a very long list of tourist traps in the downtown Atlanta area. I wouldn't waste my time and money here. read more

I came here for a quick dinner pitstop in the midst of a long conference day, and I was thankfully able to get that quick service in and out! It wasn't crowded just before 5 pm on a Thursday but started filling up by the time I left. The inside of the restaurant is kind of cool with the car theme that is mixed with the sports playing on TV. I caught a baseball game with dinner. Food wise, we started with the friend pickles and then I got a variety of tacos. I got a fajita taco, a fried chicken taco, and a gyro taco. All were very delicious and a little messy, but that's all in the spirit of tacos! I'd come here again on my next visit to Atlanta! read more

I wound up eating here twice during a recent conference, and both times were good. The first time, we had a group of 20 people and the server was phenomenal!! So sweet, kind, friendly and efficient -- very understanding that we could only make a reservation up to 10 people on Open Table and now had more than that. She set us up at 2 high-tops in the bar and was able to slightly decrease the music volume so we could chat. I had the SoCal bowl and it was really good and a MUCH-needed healthy meal in the health desert that is Downtown ATL. The second time, we were seated in the front part and our server was just OK. This was some of the best food we had in Georgia! The steak tacos had just the right amount of spice and the guacamole was so good paired with their spiced chips! I would absolutely return here and highly recommend it! After checking in to our hotel we walked around a bit and arrived at Tin Lizzy's around 9:30 pm. It is a large space with an industrial sports bar feel. They have a nice variety of Tex-Mex offerings including: salads, quesadillas, and skillets, but the tacos are the main attraction! They offer approximately 20 different tacos for you to chose from. I had the Baja Fish and the Buffalo Chicken; my wife ordered the Classic Steak and the Executive, which included steak, blue cheese crumbles, fried onion straws, and romaine lettuce. We also had some chips and queso. Everything was tasty. Service was very good and prices were reasonable. I would definitely stop in again if and when I'm in Atlanta. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite but order much more... Started off with Three Amigos app - salsa Rosa, queso and quacamole - a generous serving of each. The chips were light and flavorful. Followed with the Tortilla soup which was a little too tomato-ey. The Short Rib Birra tacos were crispy with dipping sauce. The host was really nice to us when we walked in! There was a little bit of a wait but we got sat earlier than expected. Our server,Serenity, is really nice and was attentive to our table. We got the chips and queso as a starter and they are so yummy!! The chips have a really good seasoning on them and the queso was really good as well. They gave good portions of each of them. I got a mahi mahi taco and a korean bbq taco. Both of them are really good. The bbq one had a bit more flavor. The mahi one still tasted good but leaned towards the blander side. This place in downtown was a last resort for this out of towner. The original place I was looking to go to was closed leading me to this as a backup to walking further. The place was not busy at lunchtime and the staff were quick to accommodate me although the food was just ok. The patrons adjacent may have also been a distraction as some guy kept talking to his girlfriend about another girl and how much money he had which appeared to be an exaggeration from my point of view. So the ambiance here could have been off that day however I don't think I plan to return here unless it is a last resort once again. read more

This is probably also why there were so many people even at 2:30 in the middle of the work week. I got sat quickly at the bar, but there was no availability to sit inside the restaurant because it was so busy. My bartender was very nice and quick even though she was so busy and serving multiple tables. The taco Tuesday deals are a great option, but I'm not sure if I would pay full price for the quality of the tacos. The food is pretty standard and the two other tacos were average but filling. I was actually really impressed by the fried fish taco though. The fish was flaky and came out hot. The sauce was delicious. I wouldn't usually have gotten some of the appetizers, the chips and salsa looked really good! But I was eating alone and didn't want to waste food. Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while in town recently. I'm a taco freak, so any time I see a taco joint, I stop! Just getting seated seemed to be a struggle. I asked for a table, but they suggested that I sit in the bar because it might be faster service. I found that a little odd right away, but yeah okay, sure. After taking a seat in the bar, what I realized was that they meant to sit literally at the bar, not a table in the bar, because apparently the bartender was not coming out from behind the bar and there was no wait staff on duty for the bar this day. Again, odd. So I moved to the bar, whatever. I will say, the bartender was really cool. Great guy, very friendly. However, the wait time from placing my order to getting my food was horrendous. It took forever. I ordered the "Hot Mess" (loaded tots) and a Fried Chicken Taco (because "you're in the South", everyone was telling me to try the fried chicken). The food was decent, nothing to write home about. I found that both the taco and the loaded tots were room temp at best by the time it got to me. Not sure if it sat in the kitchen for a bit or what, but room temp chicken isn't the greatest. the loaded tots were probably the highlight of this lunch, which isn't saying much. They also had an online payment system accessible via QR that allowed individual diners from a party self-select and pay for their items -- super useful for my large party. For the table: - Fried jalapeños, chicken nachos -- both came in massive portions, the latter of which was generously loaded with toppings and the former of which were surprisingly very good -- all at a reasonable price. We came here on a whim because we needed dinner and this place is within walking distance of our hotel. The atmosphere in the restaurant is bar/hang out place. We were sat back towards the bar.. your staff member shay is amazing! Working the bar and tables without making it look like a chore. She had a lot of tables too. She's wonderful, friendly and welcoming. Answered all our questions and our drinks were never empty. She makes a killer margarita too. The food is amazing Tex Mex spin on Mexican. We were able to mix and match tacos so we could try everything we wanted.. honestly I wish I had more room in my stomach because I was tempted to buy them all. Our waitress was nice and prompt taking our order and delivering the food. Nice modern interior with a wall of license plates and interesting signs all over.
