At 10:28 am I ordered my usual drink from this same location that I always come ,but today's service was unusually horrible. First, I ordered and paid for a large drink and they gave me a regular. I let them know and they had a new drink ready for me about 30 seconds later. I drove away and took a sip of my coffee, but it tasted like milk rather than the creamy coffee it usually tastes like. I went back into the drive thru and kindly explained to the same barista that this isn't the drink I usually receive. She took my drink rudely and came back with a speech ready. Instead of apologizing and demonstrating proper customer service she decided to lecture me on getting a different drink next time if I don't like it. I tried to reiterate to her that I get this drink almost everyday and know this isn't what it tastes like, but she walked away from the window without listening. At this point, I was done with her. I drove off and took a sip of the "new drink" she made and it was the same one but with way too much sweetener added. My "home" store now that I moved across town (last year! Yes yes this review is Long overdue). & I am confident to say I am absolutely so so lucky to have the best morning drive thru staff I can ever ask for. Sincere (no fake chirpiness here), quick, and most importantly ACCURATE. They pour my ordered drinks into my personal cup, and it's that perfect temp to drink right away and stay deliciously piping hot for my entire work morning. It doesn't last Beyond that. Oh, & the drive thru line is half the one on Rose Dr. I've tried most of the menu, and it's hard to make Recs cuz it's all personal preference. My go to is the vanilla latte, extra shot & they can sub almond or oat milk. Oddly, I prefer my iced vanilla as iced coffee. It just might be that extra kick cuz the brewed coffee here is bold. For the ice blended, my Fav is the cookies & cream. It's an absolute treat, and can be ordered coffee-free (if you have littles to bribe). My Fav tea is the matcha (extra matcha) or one of their black teas as a hot tea latte. Blueberry Pom, English breakfast, all so good. Iced, oh.. the peach jasmine cold brews is so refreshing. They also have this jalapeño cheese bagel, it's surprisingly delicious for a chain coffee shop. Blueberry muffin here has a legit muffin top with crumble (vs you know,.. the green strawed rival). I also pick up their breakfast egg sandwich on a bind, and that ciabatta is so soft & fluffy. read more

As for the coffee, I take it black these days. Cause, black is the new black, right? I'm always trying to find that unique taste with coffee. No cream or sugar, but maybe a couple packs of artificial sweetener, if I'm being a good boy during the week. On the remote days that I feel like indulging myself, there's the Original Mocha Ice Blended Drink. This is the frozen sensation that started it all for this coffee chain. It contains coffee extract, chocolate powder and milk, blended with ice then topped with whipped cream. It's the daddy to the Starbucks Frappuccino. What else can I say about the staff, other than they're friendly and efficient. They provide my addiction for the moment and I'm usually there to chill for a few minutes during my lunch hour. The random patrons inside are usually quiet and to themselves, often making me wonder what all these people do for a living other than hanging around during the daytime. Sorry Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf but I have been (and will continue to be) a die-hard Starbucks fan. I have tried a variety of drinks from several different locations, but nothing to make me want to come back for more. My "peach orchard green tea lemonade" was (surprise, surprise) good but not great. Located in the plaza across from Walmart, near Trader Joe's. This location has a drive thru and plenty of parking, so that's always a bonus. There are usually a lot of open tables and space to dine in and relax. Also, a great choice if you're looking for a place to study. The women's restroom, at the time of my visit, was dirty and empty. There were literally no toilet seat covers, toilet paper, or paper towels stocked at the time. Many of the employees were simply standing around or talking to one another, when they could have been focusing on the upkeep and maintenance of their business. Sorry, I probably won't be making a trip back out to this location for a while! read more

This location is incredibly disappointing. I work food service as well, I understand product outages, being understaffed and stressed. However, I don't understand the lack of acknowledgement and general disregard for customer appreciation. The LEAST you can do is eye contact, however I stood for several minutes with nothing but silence. Now food safety violations: - several container of coffee or cold brew has no lids on top. Open for critters or anything to drop in - back counter was filthy and espresso bar had old shots just chillen - to top it off, the barista who finally spoke to me and extremely long acrylic nails. HUGE food safety violation I hope this review gets to the right management because this is a prime location that could have an insane amount of business. Only if they started to treat they customers accordingly. Side note: there was one person in the lobby and one at the window in the drive thru. They may have just had a rush and I understand, but this was unforgivable. read more

The worst drive through customer service ever! Attempted to order a caramel latte and was interrogated by female over the intercom asking me if I usually go to Starbucks.. umm, why do you care? Just let me order my coffee , again she gave horrible attitude and reminded me I wasn't at Starbucks. I guess employees here are not trained to provide excellent customer service. I frequented starbucks for years primarily for convenience and the surplus of giftcards I received over the years. Also, quite frankly, there was nothing wrong with starbucks for a quick coffee fix. However, recently, I was introduced to a drink that would soon have me stopping at my local coffee bean at least a few times a week: an iced americano, dry, with NSA chocolate. The staff at this particular TCB knows how to make it just the way I like it too! They're all warm, friendly, and remembered my order after having come in only twice. TCB also has awesome ice. Nope. It's really not worth coming here. More often than not, my drinks are pretty terrible. I like Coffee Bean, I just don't like this location. I've never gone inside, just used the drive-thru and each time something is off with my drink. Mostly, it seems that the drinks are heavily watered down. Which is pretty damn disappointing and gross on a cold night when you order that red velvet hot chocolate. And the employees aren't that friendly either so it really makes it a blah experience all around. Go down the street to the Imperial and YL BLVD location- it's much better. I decided to come to this location because I went to their new location last night. I wanted to compare them since they are both about the same distance from my house. I went through the drive thru again & the guy that took my order was helpful & knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered three drinks this time instead of two & I also ordered a pastry. I had two cars ahead of me & was only in line for about 7 minutes compared to 10 minutes. I was also greeted right away upon arriving to the drive thru window unlike their new location. read more

Fast forward a couple months... The drinks still aren't that great, especially the hot ones. I prefer the iced cafe latte over any of their hot offerings. Warning: do not get their regular black coffee - SO disgustingly gross! It's basically just a shot of espresso watered down, so it's extremely sour - even after adding tons of coffee creamer! I also think the original Coffee Bean in Brea (across from the mall on Randolph) still makes drinks way better than this location, but the employees are pretty friendly here! Just seems like they're still fumbling quite a bit and learning. I've had my drinks messed up at least 10 times here, which was a bit frustrating! Although they immediately fixed the drink every time, the issues wouldn't have occurred in the first place if they had correctly read my order, which leads me to believe they don't really read orders too closely. On the bright side, this location is less crowded in the mornings, so you can literally get in and out in less than 5-10 minutes! Also, the wifi is pretty good here and there is a ton of seating - although it's always crowded in the afternoons and evenings. Overall, still a great addition to the area (way better than Burger King) - it's always nice to have more coffee spots! :) read more

I love coming here to the neighborhood Coffee Bean! It is conveniently located next to a Trader's Joe and many shopping centers. Before COVID, I use to come here and do some work. Now I just go through the drive thru which is quick and fast. It usually has a line, however the employees are very efficient. Great customer service and the employee actually seems happy! What a shame, this used to be one of the best Coffee Beans around. Today is the third time I've gone at 7:15am and they are closed (supposed to open at 6am). I waited around for a bit to see if anyone would show up and I counted no less than 36 vehicles that pulled up and left. If I was the owner I'd be beside myself. I came in to use my free drink reward for reaching 50 points on the app, when I open the app to use my reward it wasn't there. Johnothan the manager on duty was the one taking my order and I asked if he would kindly comp the drink for the issue going on with the app. He said no and that I would have to reach out to their support team through the app, fine. I ordered my drink with no whipped cream and when they finished making it, it had whipped cream. I kindly asked for them to remove it from my cup and Melanie went back and did so for me. She returned with my drink and gave it to me with the whole side of the cup drooping of my drink. Idk what it is that stopped the manager from comping my drink for the inconvenience or why Melanie couldn't clean the mess she made all over my drink but this isn't what great costumer service is supposed to be like. I grew up in this neighborhood and always find myself nostalgic for a nice tea or coffee drink from this particular Coffee Bean when I return home. Unfortunately, the drive thru (which inherently implies speed/efficiency vs walking into the store to order) is an absolute clown show and I always wondered why until I took a minute to observe (while waiting for the cashier to notice that I had pulled up to the drive thru window and take my credit card) --- this place is run by a squad of COMPLETELY STONED, high-as-a-kite teenagers or young 20 somethings. Every single one of 'em - eyes bright red like a Visine "before" ad. Each drive thru order takes a MINIMUM of 15-20 minutes to place, drive along the 10 ft path, pay, and receive. I watched this group of clowns through the drive thru window today, obviously heated, because there was only 1 car ahead of me and it took again, 15 minutes just to place my order- took so long I turned off my engine and parked in the drive thru lane!!!!! This group of clowns was so engrossed in gabbing away and flirting with each other that it took 3 minutes just to take my credit card to process the payment, another 2-3 minutes before the cashier would turn around and return the card, and another 2-3 before he decided he should probably, oh I don't know man, maybe hand me my drink. All the while engaged in a very animated conversation with his co-workers, leaning on the counter, yukking it UP, laughing and rolling his neck, clearly acting out a whole story while my drink is sitting forlornly by his register getting colder and colder, and ME SITTING OUTSIDE THE WINDOW IN MY CAR WITH MY HAND OUT THE WINDOW EXPECTANTLY WAITING FOR THE DRINK. They do not give any kind of a F about you or your drink. They do not care about their jobs - it's an employees' market right now bc the entire service industry is understaffed - they have utter job security. They are interested in gabbing with their work friends and collecting a paycheck - that's IT. You may or may not get a coffee today or tomorrow, but don't expect the product or service you paid for. Lower your expectations. If you have time to waste, this place is fine. There's a reason Coffee Bean has lost all market share to Starbucks. They can't incentivize their employees to care enough to do more than the bare minimum. read more

Excellent service, in fact, this was the place where I had my first CBTL drink. They have tons of spaces for people to do their homework, and their winter drinks are better than those at Starbucks. A "hidden treasure" that people should try. However, I haven't really had their regular drinks. But their toffee nut latte is really good! It was recommended to me by a CBTL employee in Costa Mesa and now I love it. It's sweet but it also mixes excellently with the drink itself- I suggest you try it. The coffee here is great, but I wouldn't say the same for the ice teas. This location is very spacious and has a large amount of tables for studying. Although you have to be cautious of sticky tables, just grab a small napkin and wipe it off. As a warning, if you do study at this Coffee Bean, make sure you bring a thick jacket because it can get very cold!! read more

Came to this store this morning to pick up an online order after foolishly selecting the other CB location for pickup, the one that's further down on Imperial by the Brea Mall. I was running late to class and we all know how CSUF parking gets after 8:00am so I was less than enthusiastic about driving down to the other location. Daniel was super kind and helpful and offered to make me my drink there free of charge. Yes, it was my fault for not checking the location. The fact that he didn't try to make me feel like an idiot for making that mistake and that he went above his normal duty to make me my drink there was amazing on his part and showed a true picture of his character. Little gestures like that go a LONG way. Regardless of the fact, this IS my go to location. They have a large seating area, outdoor seating, a drive-thru, plus AMAZING staff compared to the other location. I say amazing staff because I'm one of the regular patrons that shows up at the butt crack of dawn and sometimes I'm the first customer and everyone always has a damn smile on their face and is super kind at 5am. Today just proved how amazing you guys really are. Thank you Daniel for making my potentially-annoying morning a special one. read more

Went here with girlfriend and lock to bathroom wasn't working. Staff did not seem to care or have any desire to assist. Despite not being busy. When I pointed this out the drive thru employee chimes in and tells me its easy and they use it all the time. She did this in a very disrespectful tone. Basically insinuating that we were stupid in some way. At this I did get very upset to which she laughed started making gesture with hands as for me to keep talking up she is not listening. Went thru the drive thru yesterday, ordered a medium vanilla iced blended drink with almond milk. Pretty simple. Got three different drinks while at the window. Kept repeating my order. Got it again after ordering with the manager, thought it looked weird, but the girl at the window, who seemed rushed to get back to social hour with her coworkers, assured me it was my order. Drove out. Nope. Went into the store. Manager acted like he was doing me a favor by having my correct order ready and waiting for me. Manager could care less, seemed like he was ready to get back to social hour, as well. I noticed a pattern of similar experiences at this store on Yelp that go back quite a while and seemed to have not been resolved. My family has tried to give this store a chance on many occasions since it's walking distance from our house. Unfortunately, there is a demonstrated pattern of mediocre service, disinterested employees, dirty cream and sugar bar and poorly made drinks. I do hope the store can get it's act together. Here is the reason I will probably stop using drive thru... Most of the time the service is great, and my same order a medium or large hazelnut iced coffee tastes great! A couple of days ago, I ordered a large hazelnut iced coffee and received a regular upon pick up. I told the barista I ordered a large. She gave me a look as if I inconvenienced her. No apology. I see her pour the drink into a large cup, add another large scoop of ice, then uses a machine to add what looks like black coffee. I figured, ok she must have added hazelnut flavoring already and I didn't see it. Employee said "Here" no apology still, but fine as long as my coffee is good. My baby started to cry in my car so I got the drink and headed for home. I took a sip when I was almost home and almost spit it out. It basically tasted like water flavored coffee. The employee did not give me a receipt, I do not have her name. My coffee is disgusting. Wth did I just pay for? Coffee water? To the barista that ruined my morning, it may have just been another cup of coffee, but to me it was a pick me up for having a rough night with a baby. Your simple mistake and laziness ended up leaving me a horrible memory of your location and represented Coffee Bean in a distasteful and inadequate way. All I wanted was what I ordered and paid for.
