We ordered drinks at the coffee bean yesterday in Santa Monica pier. To my surprise the hot chocolate with oat milk was actually really good, perfect for the weather. My companions had cappuccino and americano which they were both satisfied with. The drinks were done fast and overall the service is nice maybe just was missing some personalisation in the conversation, you know asking about how the day is going or so :) A plus is that there's a restroom right next to it in the back. read more

Honestly, there is nothing special about this coffee shop. If you need a quick pick-me up on caffeine or a pastry while you're at the Santa Monica Pier, go for it. Do keep in mind that since this is a tourist spot, it is busy. The line we waited in wasn't long, but it did take a lot longer than we anticipated to get our order. The staff were pretty invested in helping the customers that had questions or queries about particular ingredients though is what I noticed while waiting. There are a few spots indoors to sit and enjoy your drinks and pastries, but if the weather is nice, might as well take it outside to the beach to enjoy. read more

The worse customer service ever! The ladies, the two ladies at the counter, especially the barista are rude, and they don't take time to listen to get the correct order ! We bought a few things and we have a large bill. We bought tea, coffee sandwich, and pastry, and I asked for ice water. She gave me a tiny like espresso cup with water and ice. ! We asked for iced tea. She said we don't have it and we don't know how to make it. ! Then we got regular hot tea and I asked the barista who is very rude to give me it just cup with ice and again she gave me a tiny espresso size ice water when I said no I need just ice please in the larger cup, and she turned to me and said" you need to pay for the ice and the cup"! In a very rude way, like I am asking her for a favor. When I question by saying I bought a lot of stuff here and I spent money can you just give me ice and a larger cup? She repeated you need to pay for ice and cup! And walked away. These ladies should never work in customer or client environment. They should be cleaning beaches because they have no excuse on how to serve customers and how to acquire more business and retain relationship. ! This Coffee Bean is not like my home Coffee Bean. It is a little more expensive and they do not use the mobile app or allow check ins. If your a Bean fan you know you can get points by checking in as well as a coupon here or there. I ordered a Iced Vanilla coffee. Normally they pull espresso shots then scoop vanilla powder in it then whisk in a pitcher, add water, mix then pour over ice. All the powder dissolves. Here it looks like it was regular cold coffee mixed with the powder. Leaving behind vanilla grounds at the bottom. Very skimpy on the ice. So my drink was a little off. My guy had a Iced berry tea which he said was good. Staff was friendly. The store was packed but the line went fast. Outside area is nice. I mean it's on the pier. Great place to people watch. Losing customers because of your evil employee! I went to look at the menu since I have never been there before and did not want to not know what I was ordering before I went on the actual line as to not hold anybody up. My husband was behind me and I was not sure where the line started but I was there before other people. Some gentleman diagonal from me to my left asked if I was online and the person behind the counter did not even let me reply. She yelled out that he was fine (ok with me wasn't going to fight it since I was still getting familiar with the set up inside). Then she adds in a yell and points - THEY ARE ON THE WRONG LINE AS IF WE HAD COMMITTED A CRIME. There wasn't much customers inside and the line was a misstep away looks like she was on edge that day and or just wanted to be mean for no reason. Sorry I am not bowing down to this person and going to the back of the line, let alone let her take my order or handle my coffee - when she could have took me at least after the gentleman since everyone else came in after us. My response to her was just for having an attitude I am now walking out! I am from NY after all and nobody is going to make me feel less than since I will put you in your place. Oh and if she had an issue because this happened before with the forsaken line maybe take it in that people could just be looking at the menu first and then trying to figure out where the line forms. All I know is if I was the owner and I saw the person barking at customers she would be out and I myself would be behind the counter serving customers until I can find someone with some people skills. Please re evaluate your staff they are killing your business and if they are getting irate about where people stand in line maybe redo something about it and tell your staff not to have such an emotional reaction. If it's not just one person standing on the wrong spot then there is a reason such as bad set up or more signs are needed. Things they can improve: 1. Mop their floors and pay way more attention to cleanliness. 2. Train their staff to greet customers. If they are feeling too grumpy to greet, at least say hi back when customers greet them. 3. Train their staff not to stand behind the counter and chat aimlessly when there is a long line. There are two cash registers. They can use both to avoid lines forming up. 4. Those higher up must pay more attention to the social emotional financial needs of their staff. Came here on a brisk morning while staying here in Santa Monica. Small space with plenty of standing room, you'll find what you're looking for here if coffee is what you crave. One disadvantage of this location vs. others is that they do not accept the app to receive points. To me, this is bogus. Supposedly they're apart of the theme attraction here at the pier, so this location is excluded from using app. However, this didn't ruin my enjoyment of my snack. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on the Santa Monica Pier is one of my favorite locations. The shop is located right on the world famous Santa Monica Pier, so be prepared for a line and a wait. The staff, however, is friendly and they do their best to get the drinks out quickly and consistently. The interior is tight, especially with all of the people, but there is outside seating available to take in the sights and sounds of the SM Pier. My friends and I, usually stop in after treating our tired legs and feet to a cold water dip in the ocean following our marathon training. CB&TL's matcha drinks are far superior to another coffee chain that shall remain nameless in this review. My go to drink at this location is their Matcha Latte made with ceremonial grade matcha, CB&TL Classic Vanilla Powder and milk. read more

It was awhile since I had gone to coffee bean. I always choose Starbucks if they are near by. Well, there wasn't a Starbucks so I wanted to give it a try again. I wasn't sure what to get, but I saw a sign that said new cookies n cream ice blended. That got my attention since I love cookies n cream. I was just hoping that I liked it. I remember the last time I came here I didn't like the ice blended flavor I had got. Maybe it was just the favor I had gotten. Let me just say it was the bomb! It was soooo good! I totally recommend it if you really don't know what to get. My sisters asked for a sip and they all went crazy over it. They loved it. One of them said she liked it more the the Starbucks Frappes. It was delicious. The place was nice. They don't have indoor seating. There is outside seating and they provide some umbrellas on the tables for the shade. It was super packed and there was no where to sit. I give them 3 stars because when I finally found a seat with some shade some employee started taking off the umbrellas and moving them to other tables. You can't really say anything because it's their umbrellas and I guess some important customer of theirs didn't have shade. Either that or it was the employees who didn't have shade and wanted to take a break under the umbrellas. The ice blended was good, but that got me so pissed. I was waiting for someone to get up because it was so hot and when someone finally get's up they take away my shade haha Come on man, I didn't even have a hat to cover the sun ughhh *UPDATE: The marketing manager commented on my review and explained why the umbrellas where taken down. First of all, thank you for caring about your customers. Secondly, I am sorry I assumed the worst when they took the umbrellas away. I was a little mad that I had no more shade. I ordered an ice blended mocha and I ended up getting an ice blended vanilla. After they made another one, I found a piece of glass in my mouth which I had to spit. I don't mind that they messed up my order. I just didn't like the fact that they didn't take their time to make the drink. It is conveniently located on the Santa Monica pier and if you are thirsty, very likely to stop by here. But don't. 1. Long lines To get a cup of coffee and iced tea, I had to wait over 8 mins. Not just because there were many people, but mostly because the service is slow. 2. Not good drinks It is hard to find $4 bad cup of coffee, but I found it here. Iced tea was too sweet, had to throw away after just one sip. All in all, get bottled packaged drinks if you are thirsty. They do have a good location, so no matter how bad, they would always have tourists and other people who are passing by to stop here to sustain their business. Lucky them.
