It's not cool and hip, but homey and comfortable, so mostly older customers come here. The setup is like an old coffee shop with a counter, and a handful of tables. WiFi is good. The girls behind the counter were so lovely and quick. I asked them a couple questions and they didn't seem to mind helping me. It was a quick turn around and I loved how many people were actually having their coffee there. It is on the smaller side but there are plenty of seats. The place seems clean. Didn't know this super cute saloon style coffeeshop is right down the street until a friend suggested we meet for an afternoon pick me up. The shop has the cutest western theme with a small stage for seating and walls covered with ranch style artwork. The barista welcomed us in and was by far the friendliest person ever. Can't remember her name but she revived the idea of good customer service for me. Their dog friendliness is also very inviting; we had a dog who was offered some treats and a pup cup. I had a generic iced latte with almond milk which ended up being upwards of $8. Thought it was a bit pricey considering it was just a basic iced latte with no flavor. Knocked a star off because for whatever reason, the coffee tasted burnt and was kind of undrinkable. Nonetheless, I will go back to give them another try as the customer service really made up the distance. Goes to show how kindness can go a long ways. read more

Stopped in on a Monday morning around 10am. Plenty of parking available. Cutest little coffee shop I've been to. Loved that I saw a dog bowl out front before I even stepped inside. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Lots of coffee options available and a few bagels, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches available. Went with an iced Ava Special and a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. The coffee was the perfect balance of flavors, sweetness, and coffee. My chai latte was nothing spectacular, I'm glad I got a small instead of a large. I don't see myself going back- it was so small for the amount of people that line up in there I started getting anxiety. It would be helpful if they had kiosks so you can order your drink yourself. read more

This is my go to spot! Don't go to Dunkin' next door and sleep on this place. This cafe may be small but it has hands down some of the best coffee drinks. The roasts they use are delicious and I'm an espresso / americano kind of girl. My husband loves their Villa Park cold brew. He compares all other cold brews to it! The service is great, we're always greeted and offered changes to our drinks if we're trying something new. Sometimes we've been able to try samples of the menu if we're unsure (like flavored coffees). There is a little seating inside and then some nice seating outside. It can be busy before 10am but after that is the best time to go, in my opinion. read more

I came out here to try this place since it's close to my neighborhood. It was a bit of a struggle to find it because it was right next to the bank and easy to miss. When I came I found a line forming outside, and noticed that's there's very little inside seating. The staff is very friendly and they offer lots of substitutes! I will say that it's not the most quiet coffee shop, since it was hard to hear the other person speak from across the table. Overall my drink was decent, and the staff was friendly. read more

Stumbled upon this little local spot and was happy to give it a try. I didn't know what I wanted exactly, but I knew I wanted an iced flavored drink. What do you know, the special was "Ava special"- and iced nutty coffee with caramel, chocolate, and cinnamon sprinkle. Perfect! They were out of regular caramel but subbed sugar-free caramel and that was fine. Minus one star for the lack of masks in that crowded cramped space. This place is so cute! I've come in twice now and loved my drinks both times. I got the strawberry matcha and vanilla matcha. I like my drinks sweet and they were perfect for me as made. The staff is so nice and friendly! I came in at 6:40am on a week day and there were a handful of people you could tell were regulars. They were all sitting together and chatting. One customer brought in a birthday gift for one of the staff. I loved that! So much better than chain coffee shops. read more

Unbe-freakin-lievable... this morning my cup of coffee took me down memory lane. The time traveling beverage was an Iced Cinnamon Latte. It was perfect. It was like a cup of happiness. Besides waking me up and cooling my hot summer down, it was nostalgic. I think the last times I was here for coffee was 2002. That was 20 years ago! And that year I was a senior in high school! (Now this is the second place on a social network where I just dated myself to the general public, but that is just a mere side note lol) Back to the point -- The Coffee Grove has been in the same location and looks the same vibe as it was years ago. It truly is a place of comfort and has a timeless atmosphere. I think because of the notion that this was one of my first cups of coffee in my teenage years, it tasted really good! The blended coffee balanced well with the cream of choice and the added sweet syrup of cinnamon wasn't overpowering. It was the perfect cup of iced coffee. The barista who made the coffee was very sweet and informative. Most coffee places doesn't have cinnamon. Her clarifying that they had it was a huge bonus. Cinnamon Lattes are my coffee flavor of choice. On top of this experience down memory lane, I noticed that a lot of the guests were locals and regulars. Now that is a true coffee shop! The Coffee Grove is a gem in the Villa Park Shopping Center and I hope to go back more often whenever I am in the neighborhood. read more

Truthfully speaking, who would I be writing this review for? The Coffee Grove is filled with diehard customers and locals. There's just something so charming about the group of recent or soon-to-be retirees stopping after a group bike ride. You can't help but smile when seeing couples with their new babies both biological and of the furry type swinging by to say hello and grabbing their cup of joe. And lest we forget about the innocence of the local high school and community college kids excitedly chatting about graduation. Really, if you're reading this you're more likely a passerby who stumbled onto this "mom and pop" store on your way to SD, LA, or Big Bear depending on which highway you're taking. Highly encourage taking your time away from the main highway Starbucks and giving TCG a try as a change of pace. read more

This place was so great. The DECOR is VERY HYPERLOCAL, which is my favorite aesthetic. I had a bagel sandwich and it was great. The very nice person making beverages made me her favorite iced coffee concoction, which was tasty. I could tell the vibe attracts lots of locals.
