i stopped by this cafe for some matcha with my friends, and the mango cloud matcha sounded super yummy as a mango sticky rice with matcha cream top! i would say it is on the sweeter side, and the mango can overpower the matcha since it's such a prominent flavor, but i still enjoyed it a lot. it was really refreshing for a warm day! there was a good amount of seating here for studying and relaxing with friends, and the cafe was very grey in a cool way LOL the servers were also really nice and efficient. i could see myself coming back to try their other drinks soon! read more

This place was very hyped so wanted to try. Atmosphere is...interesting. Dark, bright wall lights with the ape, weird system to order from a digital counter book essentially. Ordered an iced latte with banana cold foam, shouldn't have gotten the cold foam. It tasted sour as if the bananas had gone bad. Also ordered salmon bagel, which took quite a while to get done. So good! What I love about their coffee is that it's not too sweet, too bitter, or too strong. It's perfectly blended to keep you coming back for more. We stopped by to grab some coffee while waiting for our cars to be washed, and were surprised at how busy it was. It's a small but happening place! And I can see why. The girl at the counter was nice and all of the baristas were busy consistently. It was a little tight in there at times with the amount of people, but there's seating if you get a spot. Tried this cafe for the first time and it didn't disappoint! The only thing that threw me off was the ordering setup, the menu is on an iPad right at the counter, and you can't see the prices until you're placing your order. I tried the Monkey Business and it was really good. Service was pretty minimal, nothing rude, just the bare minimum. The ambiance is nice though, with a few tables if you want to sit and get some work done, plus a restroom for customers which is always a plus. read more

Randomly decided to try out this coffee shop and it did not disappoint! I had one of their seasonal drinks Island Ape (chocolate cold brew with a coconut cream top with a touch of sea salt and cacao powder) which I loved because of how chocolatey it is! My boyfriend ordered their signature Tiramisu Latte (iced condensed milk latte topped with mascarpone cream, garnished with cocoa powder) which he loved as well, and was not too sweet. There were a few tables and outlets which makes it conducive to getting work done. The environment was unique with a darker aesthetic and staff were friendly (shoutout to Jann!) Bonus points for their video menu which is a really cool way to visualize what drinks to get! Only downside is parking might be tough due to the layout of the lot; but there's street parking in the nearby neighborhood as well. Overall 10/10, I definitely recommend and will come back to try out more drinks! read more

Long-time fan here. Every latte I've ordered has been consistently good, but my go-to favorites are the Monkey Business and the Tiramisu Latte. I never thought I'd enjoy a banana-flavored coffee, but the Monkey Business completely surprised me. It's actually really delicious and well-balanced. The Tiramisu Latte is also spot on, and ordering it half sweet makes it perfect for my taste. I also love the cool ape-themed decor and the overall vibe of the space. Tried this place randomly during the day! I got the banana coffee and the banana matcha. The coffee tasted good and the matcha was just okay. I got extra matcha because the original matcha is super light and weak (my friend got the normal version). It still just tasted okay i would't get it again tbh. The banana foam is good but it's not super delicious to come back for. I think i would try another coffee drink with a regular foam instead to give it another try. The coffee wasn't super strong so i'm not sure how much shots it has. they also only have one size which im personally not a fan of :( it was 16$ in total! read more

Second time is a charm, the first time was not a success coz the coffee i want to order only comes in cold so i left empty handed. But since my co- worker highly recommend this coffee shop, i went and ordered flat white with lavender and it was good. I guess their specialty coffee are all iced and im a hot coffee drinker. I want to start by saying i loved the ambiance! The service was okay, i had a question about the latte and was made to feel dumb! I had a total brain fart moment where i asked if there was espresso in the latte and the girl employee looked at me so awfully and responded "uh yeah" super sarcastically! We Yelped what was close to Irvine Park since we were going hiking that morning and needed a quick bite and coffee to power up. Ended up at Ape Coffee and glad we tried it! My bf went with a latte and egg sandwich, and I ordered their famous Cloud Ape with avocado toast. Coffee was really good, but the avocado toast had way too much lime, super tangy, not really the way I like it. This place is definitely popular. The line was long and finding a seat or table was tricky, but we got lucky. I liked the overall vibe and especially the music playing in the background, it gave the spot some extra character. I tried the two most popular recommendations from the signature drinks and overall enjoyed it. Monkey Business is their most popular drink and is basically an espresso with banana cream on top. It's a sweet drink. The Cloud Ape is a cold brew with a cream top and is recommended for those who prefer a strong cup of coffee. Been here a few times to officially give my review. The ambiance in the store is a little dark, natural feeling, brightened with neon lights and the door opening. If you're coming here to do some work, know that there's only a couple tables but wifi is pretty good. Between their two seasonal drinks--sunset ape and midnight ape--I'd say midnight ape is the winner. It has a much stronger taste from the blueberry milk than the strawberry. The matcha cream is delicious. The monkey business is probably their signature drink but I gravitated back to the midnight ape because I'm not a big banana flavor person and the espresso/banana combo was a little light for me. read more
