I stopped by for a coffee and tried their Butterfinger latte, which definitely lives up to the "candy flavor" theme, but it was extremely sweet, so much so that I couldn't finish it. Stopped here for a pre dinner treat on a warm afternoon. We caught them at a good time when the line was much shorter than we had observed a few hours before. They have a good selection of ice cream flavors and sundae combinations on the menu, in addition to coffee and a full menu of savory food items. We ordered through the walk up window and our ice cream was ready within 2 mins. I had just a single scoop of dark chocolate raspberry and it was amazing. It tasted fresh and had chunks of raspberries in it. My bf had the reese's explosion sundae. It came out in the same size cup as mine and was almost double the cost. I thought the toppings were good and his was delicious, don't get me wrong, but I think it was pricey. They don't have any seating out front on the sidewalk, but did have an outdoor patio and several tables available inside. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Ordered an iced coffee. Sure it was cheap. Just under $4. But it tasted so watery and honestly tasted like barf. I asked for liquid cane sugar, and they had no idea what that was. So I had to put packet sugar in it, which doesn't dissolve in iced coffee. So it tasted so disgusting. I took one sip then tossed it in the trash. The "Coffee" Mill can't even make coffee. Change your name to "Water Mill" if you can't make coffee. read more

Terrible food. The fries were covered in a really terrible spice. It had so much spice it stunk. Tossed those. I wanted grilled onion. She was too lazy so she put raw ones on my burger and I told her. I would not eat raw onion. The burger was really chewy and spongy at the same time. It was not hamburger. We took a day trip to harpers ferry. It was brutally hot. And we were dying..... we found this little place to have lunch. It turned out to be a little gem. For such a small place, it has a wide variety of menu items, all the way from salad to cheese burgers and wraps. Our group had bacon cheeseburger, turkey and Swiss wrap, and garden salad. We all thought the food was very good. We also treated ourselves to dessert including ice cream scoops in a dish and turtle sundae. The ice cream was good. The turtle sundae was great. I think they used real whipped cream. We were thankful to get out of the heat and had a little nice place to have lunch. There were only two ladies working. So the service was a little slow, but we would not complain at all. It is not the type of place you would expect fine dining experience anyway. In fact, we recommend this place if you are visiting harpers ferry. read more

This is our fav place to stopby whenever we go to Harpers Ferry. It's very small cozy Cafe, with a lot of options of good coffee. They serve small bites as well along with bakery goods. The seating area inside the Cafe is very small, the tables are very tight, little uncomfortable to sit there. But they have a outside patio on the back. We always pick our coffee and Muffins from this Cafe first and then start walking around the beautiful town Harpers Ferry. read more

Cute bakery with large outdoor sitting. We got a pistachio muffin to go with our coffee. Oldest daughter got a specialty coffee which I don't remember what kind. My wife and I shared a Americano. Small restaurant at the foot of High Street. It's a good place for lunch if you're touring the town. Order at the counter and pick up at the window. There are a few seats inside but since it was nice we went outside to one of the nice umbrella shaded tables. I had a sandwich and a soda, and I guess after the lunch rush was over the cook came out and said hi to us and took our c empty plates and cans. It was a nice pleasant lunch. My friend and I came here after a hike up the Maryland heights trail to the overlook. I literally had THE BEST strawberry smoothie from here. I'm not sure if it was only good because I was hot and tired BUT regardless, it was amazing. The ice cream that my friend had gotten looked amazing too! To let the customers order in line. they have three dirty tables to sit inside but its not comfortable because people line up right there. one has a dirty freezer next to it thats the one we sat at waiting for our food. seems like the food is frozen then they cook when ordered. The wait is long. You get your food when your number is called. one person in our group (group of 3)had received they're order wrong so it was taken back. good luck on getting a refill on a drink if they are busy. The hole place needs a deep cleaning. They do have a outside sitting but if it raining you want to be inside. Dairy Queen or any fast food is way better so I suggest that if you want somewhere to sit and refills and clean. read more

Eating at the coffee mill in harpers ferry,. We sit down at outside table. It has bird poop and soda or ice cream spills. Maybe, the people just left and no time to clean the table. I ask waitress about getting the table cleaned, she brings me a rag to clean it myself. OK, so I cleaned it. This is picture of my Sante Fe salad AFTER I asked where the black beans and corn are? The young waitress, "I don't know." She takes my plate and brings back same salad with said black beans and corn. Ok.. now, I need a knife to cut the chicken. I ask waitress for one she responds. This is a dirty overpriced restaurant for the quality of food they serve. They need to lower the prices and make sure that restaurant is cleaner. Also, I want to comment on another reviewers post. (Grace) Obviously I am not a fan of this restaurant, but her polarizing political views are not warranted. If you don't like the Confederate flag don't come to a historical town about the freaking Civil War. I am sure that the manager is not racist. She has staff of different ethnicities. I waited 15 minutes for a server to come up to me. Once the server did come up to me, they were very nice and I enjoyed speaking to them. Their service flowed with the overall vibe the place -- hospitable. Being that I did have to wait; I'll have to knock off a star. They did see me. I had spoken to one of them to inform them I was here. There were only 2 servers for outside with about 3 or 4 tables a piece. I had to track them down by walking up to them, passing all the other tables to say, "Hey I want some water. I've been hiking for about three and a half hours and I need something to eat as well. Please can you accommodate that?" OK, I wasn't really that big of a bitch about it, but when a girl is hungry and when she's tired and when she has drove an hour to come here and she wasn't prepared when she came, what else is she supposed to do? Wait another 15 minutes? Nooooooo! I order the bacon burger and fries and then I got the apple pie a la mode. I was carb loading.... or just generally being a fat ass, but I enjoyed my food. I probably took an hour to eat simply to enjoy every bite. Their apple pie is homemade, and it was fierce! The burger was good, the bacon was better! The fries to me were very bland and needed more seasoning. even with a dash of salt, that wasn't enough to solve that problem. I left half of them untouched. Probably for the best though so I can leave more room for my dessert. I sat on the patio for my dining experience. Patio has several seats available with umbrellas open to cover you while you eat providing plenty of shade. Bathrooms are questionable as far as safety but are sanitary. I wouldn't really worry about it too much considering how old the building is. The commode just seems like it hadn't been fixed since it was installed 50 years ago. Would I return? Probably. Prices are reasonable, and you get a lot for what you order. The burgers are a solid option and I would go for above anything else on the menu. Side note - they have vegetarian options. "Smoothies" are just blended, flavored ice. No, you can't take out a "fruit" because they are just how the flavors come (I got Pomegranate Cherry). There were still large chunks of ice in mine, and there wasn't too much character. Service was kinda slow, considering she only had to add a squirt of flavor into ice and blend it....she didn't even put a lid on it, or give me a straw!! ...and the napkins were out!!! wtheck?? Kinda pricy, too, especially for what you get. I thought I'd like anything cold and sweet after an 8-mile hike, but Coffee Mill did not hit my spot, unfortunately. The Coffee Mill has been around a long time--I remember going there as a kid during trips to Harper's Ferry, so I have a special attachment to it. It was always there for me when I needed a hot or cold drink and a break from walking, like a beacon standing there at the bottom of High Street, the first restaurant you come to. Now I take my daughter there...she loves the flavor burst ice cream (strawberry, of course). Prices are a little steep, but as I've noted before, this is true of every establishment right on High Street. Service is very friendly. Nice outdoor seating area. We went here twice during our day trip to Harper's Ferry - once after a few hours of tubing down the river and once again after we went on the hike on the Maryland Heights Trail, and to be honest, both experiences were disappointing. After our tubing trip, it was the middle of an 80 degree day, so we were looking for some cold ice cream to to cool ourselves down. I got some peach ice cream, and the whole thing was pretty underwhelming. First of all, the initial reaction was that it looked like there was a lot of artificial coloring being used - the ice cream was way more "peachy" than it should've been, and it was immediately pretty off putting. When I had the ice cream itself, it was super melty, and the ice cream definitely didn't look peachy enough - it didn't feel as cool and refreshing as it should've been coming in from a hot day. The one redeeming factor, however, were the little peach bits in the middle of the ice cream. Although they were pretty sparse in the ice cream itself, it was like finding little pieces of treasure on a deserted beach of mediocrity. After the 6 mile hike up and down the Maryland Heights trail, I was looking for a big, filling meal. Partly because I was wanting to give this place a second trail, and mostly because I needed somewhere quick as the last shuttle was leaving at 6:45, I came in and got a cheeseburger with fries to go. The fries just tasted very gross - they looked like they came frozen and we're just heated up, and were very bland and almost hard to eat. The burger was just... meh. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. It was just... OK. Overall, pretty disappointing experience. 2 stars mainly because the service was actually pretty good and the people were friendly, but the food could really use work. read more

After eating a hot dog next door at the Swiss Miss we decided to step 5 feet over to the Coffee Mill to get dessert. Two frozen custards, one vanilla and one chocolate vanilla swirl, were ordered from a very friendly server. They were delicious! One suggestion though. Don't try to eat frozen custard while hiking uphill towards Jefferson Rock. This is what we did. It was quite difficult hiking up steps and eating our custards before they melted. The Coffee Mill is an odd place in Harper's Ferry. I came in a few weeks ago looking for dessert. Their outside sign advertised custard, but they just serve Turkey Hill ice cream. Less interested, I looked at the baked goods. I picked up a fine Red Velvet Muffin ($2.99) but had a really odd experience with the staff in my checkout. While the muffin was fine, there was nothing exceptional to bring me back to this shop. Between the false menu advertising and staff interaction I had, this place just gave me shady vibes. read more

* I hate to crap on mom and pop spots! A very forgettable and odd spot in Harper's Ferry. I went with a group we were treated poorly. Barely any room to sit as it's a small store of itself and because we were a group of people we got crap service. Food wasn't fresh and overpriced due to the location. There is other options, don't settle for this place please. Also the menu had options but in reality they don't serve it all. The setting makes you feel like your back in 1992 and everything is old, the chairs, the tables, etc. I say this because they up charge on food you would think they would spend some money into their business. What my group ordered was nothing complex, yet these guys managed to find a way to mess it up. My relative ordered ice cream... somehow they messed that up too. Also the food took incredibly long which I understand as we were a group however the restaurant wasn't packed at all. And like I said the quality of food is not good everything tasted at least the day old. And the water? It tasted not like clean water, which is rather odd. Between the wack service, the bland and bad food, and the overall experience I would suggest you go elsewhere. Seriously hated my time here. Great hot chocolate! Had the pulled bbq sandwich meal with fries and cole slaw, better than Stuckey's in Nanticoke, Pa., who were the former champion on pulled sandwiches. My wife had hamburger with apple wood smoked bacon. Fast service, quaint and WV friendly. Of course, we walked out with a warm cinnamon apple maple pie for home. Finding some place to eat near the National Park section of Harper's Ferry can be a bit tough. Unless you want to talk further up, you're kind of limited to various stores and shoppes. We found The Coffee Mill and decided the food sounded acceptable. That pretty much sums up our experience, too. The setting was more like an 80's or 90's diner. Small tables with bench seating, not much in the way of climate control (it was a bit warm thanks to the humid heat outside), and the usual insect life (thanks to the open air). Still, we weren't expecting fine dining, so it was only mildly uncomfortable. Our server was alright, although seemed a bit overwhelmed by the number of customers and often disappeared. Everyone was professional and helpful, even if they seemed super busy (even when nothing was going on). The food itself was alright - nothing to write home about. It hit the spot and let us finish the park without getting too hungry. Would we come back here? Maybe - depends on if we feel like heading further up to some of the nicer joints, or just want to grab a burger and keep going. I'd like to give them a 3.5, but for now I'll just say it's "A-OK". read more
