While searching places to eat in Elko, this place kept coming up so we decided to give it try. It is located right on Commercial Street, which is a major road in this town. The sign above is huge so it hard to miss. We first stopped by during the lunch time on a Sunday, but we already knew we were going to come here for dinner. The crowd in there had the place completely filled. Dinner seemed to be a slower, more relaxed pace. When we walked in, there was only about half the tables had people dining there so we got seated right away and in a booth because there were several open. The menu for this place has ALOT to chose from. Wether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner there is a lot. I chose the Miner's Delight sandwich, which has corned beef, turkey ham with American and swiss cheese on grilled sourdough, with cole slaw and the wife had a cheeseburger with fries. The server we had was very friendly, welcoming and answered any questions we had cheerfully. Our order came out in less than 10 minutes and both orders were very good. The Miner's Delight was hot and had a lot of flavor as expected with all the different meats and you can't go wrong with grilled sourdough. I would definitely recommend it and plan to return when we are back in the area. read more

Great food great service! When you're in Elko this is the place when you have a group of people that can't decide what they want, because everything is good! My wife got a Chicken Wrap, someone else got pancakes and eggs, another person got a burger, I got hamburger steak and a baked potato. Going to only review my meal because no one shared, so that should tell you a little about their meals. Salad that came was fresh, crisp lettuce, cucumber was nice and crunchy just a great salad. Hamburger Steak and baked potato... good size baked potato loaded with cheese, bacon and sour cream, the hamburger steak was smothered with awesome gravy and topped with onions and mushrooms, if I lived in the area I would be here weekly! However if I ever pass through Elko again will definitely stop! read more

While I'm sure they clean the dinning room every night this place is a mess by noon. It's got a classic old feel and it packs a crowd. Mostly local crowd and if I lived in town is be here all the time. That being said there are not a lot of options and this place is amazing. It's a good spot to stop in for a relatively short meal on the road, centrally located and plenty of parking. The staff is sure enough friendly, pies look delicious. This was our 2nd time in, we had the same waitress and everything was so good. Coffee cup is never empty. Chicken salad club was delicious. We're were hoping that the soup was going to be chicken tortilla again, but it wasn't. If you go when they have it; get it!! Great quick n easy lil lunch spot. read more

Starting good someone (not an employee) the door. My wait for drinks took around 2 minutes and the wait for main food was around 5 minutes. They have a free bathroom, free condiments and seasoning, good chairs. The root beer tasted good and my BLT and fries were good and as for the ambience it was great and they also have a door for their toilet stall. read more

I ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns. I asked for well done and got burned black hashbrowns. I always ask for well done because if not they come out too undercooked for my taste but this has never happened to me. It was burned soft potatoes which would have been better if they were burned and crispy. Not sure why they were so soft. Last meal before heading out home from our quick overnight visit with friends in Elko. Not much open on a Sunday so we decided to go the diner route for a lunch before our drive home. It's a nice, clean, quiet diner with lots of open seating available. Ok service, ok food. Nothing good or bad to report. There is nothing memorable about this meal except that by it filled our tummies. My son got a chicken quesadilla and subbed fries for the beans and rice. He said the quesadilla was a 10 out of 10. I tried it and I agree. His plate came with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. I had the steak sandwich with onion rings. It was a last minute game time decision that didn't work out for me (should have stuck with my chicken Caesar wrap). I ordered it medium rare and got a medium well. The onion rings were bland and probably a cheap freezer item, not worth the upcharge. I wanted a lighter meal but overloaded myself with this heavy option in an Uncalculated last minute mistake while ordering. My husband got fish and Piccadilly chips, which are simply little fried potatoes... nothing special and also not worth the upcharge. His fish was cooked well but bland and more breading than fish. Lemon and tarter were a key. Service was attentive but not memorable. I think I would come back and try their breakfast to see if we just picked wrong. read more

I was working in Elko,NV. Need a quick breakfast, but didn't want fast food. This place was quiet for a dinner at 8 am. The service was quick..I had to be at work by 9 am. I order a hot chocolate...I was definitely awesome...4 inch high whip cream!! Yummy!!! I tried the pancake sandwich...it wasn't in the form of a sandwich though? It was your basic 2 pancakes with scrambled eggs on top and bacon on the side...it should say build your own sandwich instead... It was tasty for what it was, 2 pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon If you don't like too much sugar don't get the hot chocolate it is definitely sweet...however if you ask the waitress/waiter to put a little coffee in the hot chocolate it will lighten up the sugary taste of the chocolate. read more

The location is great. I respect their history but the food can be improved. Very bland & mass produced. Staff is welcoming & friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Didn't charge for avocado (but only gave a wedge). Ordered the Country Fixins for breakfast. Sausage patty was likely previously frozen & dried out. I took one bite & had to spit it out. Gravy was bland. Biscuit was dry. The only decent thing we ate was the Basque Chorizo Sausage. I knew what we were in for when we walked in & I saw the case of their "fresh homemade pies." We arrived about 10am on Saturday morning and the place was hopping! There was a short line when we arrived and we saw two spots at the counter. We inquired if the counter was open seating, which it was and took a seat. We were quickly provided menus and discovered the menu is huge! We made our decision and our orders were taken in a timely and friendly manner. The restaurant has a clean updated feel to it but we couldn't help but notice the barstools at the counter really need to be replaced. They are old, flimsy and uncomfortable. My wife ordered the meaty Mexican omelette and I chose the miners delight which is a hot sandwich with pastrami, turkey, ham, American and Swiss cheese on grilled sourdough. Our meals were delivered in a timely fashion and looked really good. Everything tasted good as well. The miners delight was really tasty and had crunchy grilled bread. My wife really enjoyed her breakfast as well. The place was clean, the service was good, the food was tasty and the prices were decent, a little over $20 for two. read more

Appreciated prompt service on my food and aggressive refills on my cup of black coffee. The food itself -- I ordered what was effectively a wrap of some fried chicken tenders, with some lettuce to balance it out -- was truly nothing remarkable, but at least it tasted freshly made. Stopped in on December 18th in the late afternoon, on the way west to Winnemucca. Was quiet, only a few folks in the restaurant. Looked like they were setting up for a group of about 20 though. Promptly seated, and provided menus. I ordered The Old Hickory Burger and my wife ordered the Ham and Cheese Omelette. Both delicious! Our food came out hot and fast. Plenty for sure. Leftovers for the road. Clean restaurant. The only small downside is the booth cushions need some build up. Had to scoot over so I wasn't sitting in the groove. If you are traveling through Elko, you MUST STOP HERE!! I have been here several times and every time the food is delicious and the staff is friendly. I've had something different to eat each time I stop and it's all been amazing. Their homemade soups are so good - they really hit the spot every time. I honestly wish they sold the T-Shirts the wait staff wears; I'd but one to wear! My favorite had glitter on the logo. SO CUTE! I've been going to this place on and off for years. We've stopped to eat here many times while in elko while they have busy and while they have been on the slower side. Service is always amazing regardless of what is going on. I love their hearty meals and in-house gravy's. We typically come here for breakfast when in town so I can't confidently say I've had lunch here. Stopped by here driving home from Reno. Not much was open on a Sunday afternoon in Elko and this was the highest reviewed and open place we could find. While traveling, I did an online search for a family-friendly place in the town we were approaching, Elko, and chose this restaurant for lunch. Well, when we got there, it was packed, I now suspect with locals supporting a local joint -- forget any travelers. We were pointed to a booth, which was not very clean, but we slid in because it was that or nothing. At first the waitress was friendly, but after she brought the food, she never asked if we needed anything, only returned once for a moment to joke with my husband that wasn't his food delicious? (Never mind the others at the table.) I guess she knew that if she asked if everything was okay, we'd say no, it was all tasteless and unremarkable. Then the waitress ditched us, and my husband finally had to go to the front to ask for the bill so we could get the heck out of there. What kind of way is this to act toward your customers? Do I recommend this place after our experience? No, I do not. I'd never stop again. read more

I'm up here with my husband for work. Got in to town a few hours ago and started searching for places to eat. I did have another restaurant in mind but decided last minute to eat here. First off let me say this is a small, quiet, and cute town. We walked in and was greeted by a few people. Our waiter was nice a friendly. My husband went with the ribeye, and I went with the chicken fried steak. His steak had a good flavor but was over cooked. He asked for Med, and it was cooked well. The chicken fried steak was thin, it looked more like a frozen patty, but it did have a decent flavor. The mash potatoes and gravy had a good flavor, and the veggies that came with both meals was surprisingly good. The biscuit or bread that was suppose to come with the meal we never got. All though our waiter said as soon as they come out of the oven he would bring them to us. I also want to mention you get a salad or soup with your meals.
