We came to eat here while staying in Elko. The food was great. Even the picky kid liked it. The service was excellent the waiter was friendly and super efficient. The ambiance was great for families.

Wonderful breakfast/lunch joint in Elko! We stopped here on our way from Utah to Reno, but stumbled across this place when the normal breakfast spot we go to was closed. Boy, I'm glad we did! The interior is much more than you would expect from a traditional coffee shop, and the service was spot on! I got the Popeye omelette with a side of pancakes (it's all about balance, right?!) both were phenomenal! My son and husband got the French dip with fries, and loved them! The ranch was the best! Service was super fast and friendly, and the food came out really quick, which was nice since we were tying to get home in a storm. I wish I would have bought one of the items in their dessert case up front (pies, muffins, cookies, cheesecake), but I was so full, I couldn't think about eating anything else. A definite must-try!

The Coffee Mug is warm and inviting. The brick walls are beautiful. An adjoining bar with tv makes for a large space. Both of us ordered French toast. It is amazing. The coffee is hot and flavorful. The staff is friendly. Will definitely be back when visiting Elko.

Had breakfast with my family and the cost was good, service was great, and food was just about a 4/5. There's always a great atmosphere here, as long as you don't mind loud and busy. I never have issues with finding parking. Sometimes there can be a longer wait, but it all depends on when you go. read more

This place actually deserves zero stars. Worst food ever. We got two dishes that were recommended by the staff. Apart from getting mashed potatoes instead of fries, the food was disgusting. The shrimp tasted as they were re-heated 10 times. The sauce was disgusting too. Better go to McDonald's. read more

Meh. Took my little ones here. It had a good crowd of people so the noise level was nice so my kids didn't bother anyone. I got a breakfast sandwich that wasn't very good . Not bad just bland with no flavor but I was super hungry so I ate it all. The hash browns were gross. Got pancakes for the kids and they were good. I also got a cup of coffee that tasted like water. Like they ran the coffee using old grinds. read more

If you're traveling down 80 and looking for a breakfast spot you have to go to the downtown area The CoffeeMug is the best place in Elko with huge portions and the super friendly staff is Out server was Elvia and she was a total sweetheart. We will definitely be stopping here on our next trip through. read more

Good food, good prices, the only thing is they wouldn't let my dad bring in his medical assist dog. He explained the law and she was nice enough about it, but still just and FYI if anyone out there has a dog with them. read more

Been here a couple times already staff is always friendly and their food is pretty damn good. I had the crazy Alfredo and let me tell you it was delicious the second time had the pastrami burger it was great as well. Prices are fair and we aren't done here yet. read more

Was in Elko for work and tried out a few places during my 4 day stay there. This was definitely the best meals I had (went there twice). The atmosphere was nice and the staff very friendly. Wish I had found this place earlier, I wouldn't have wasted my money at Denny's. read more

For what it is, it is easily 5 stars. Was driving through Elko and decided to check this place out. It was around 1pm on a Monday. Ordered the garden burger with fries. It was yummy. Was it amazing? No. Was it worth $8? Definitely. My waitress was very nice and the food came in under 5 minutes (it was not very busy at this time/day). I'll stop here next time I drive through Elko. Basically an excellent alternative if you planned on eating at a fast food place. read more

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of the nearby Esquire Inn, and we went before seeing the good ratings on yelp. The food was good, homemade, large portions and reasonably priced. Very popular breakfast place for good reason. Nice booths...my wife is happy they have grits. That with 2 eggs is $5.35. I had oatmeal, $2.99, comes with raisins, milk and brown sugar, all good. Found this place on Yelp, but also the owner of the Esquire Motel, (excellent place to stay, recommended it so we walked over! We were waited on by a fantastic, friendly waitress named Tina. Our order was promptly taken, and we never had to ask for anything, constant water, coffee refills! We had eggs, country potatoes, bacon and pancakes, all that comes with my egg order, I didn't order anything on the side, impressive!!The food was fabulous, and you get a lot of it for an excellent price! Highly recommend if your traveling through Elko. read more

The place has great reviews but the omelette we had(Popeye) was bland and tasteless probably due to ingredients that were not fresh? The bacon was crisp and good but the hash browns were undercooked and the English muffin wasn't toasted well enough. The coffee was just OK...all told an underwhelming & disappointing breakfast though better than Denny's! read more

It's a decent size restaurant, kept very clean. The waite staff is friendly but the service is slower than I'd like. I had the fish and chips and my son had the homemade macaroni and cheese. There was more good than either of us could eat. If I were to compare the food to a chain restaurant I would say it's comparable to a Black Bear diner. read more

Okay, selection but the food was greasy and cold. Owner owns Dalling Hall and both venues leave something to be desired. Gas station is the vibe of the bathrooms in both places which is saad since the historic buildings are kinda cool. Dirty sinks, floors, and mirrors... not the vibe Id expect from someplace that seems to be loved by the locals. read more

My wife and I came to the Coffee Mug for the first time today after hearing pretty good reviews. We both ordered Shirley's Special- which is chicken fried steak and gravy with eggs, country potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. She got her eggs scrambled with the biscuits and I got my eggs over medium with toast. Everything was cooked to perfection although I have had better chicken fried steak. The service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive and nice and our food came fairly quick for a place that was somewhat busy. The place was very homey and spacious, we will be coming back again. read more

We had a quick overnight stay in Elko and haven't ever been here before. On our way out, stopped here and it's delicious! Best country fried steak ever. Everything is homemade and you can tell. Cinnamon roll and peanut butter cheesecake was to die for. read more

A very good Reuben sandwich, fresh and hot french fries, plenty of refills on the Diet Coke, and friendly service. The dining room is no frills, but has kept the tin ceiling and basic decor of the historic building. I'll be back in on my next trip through Elko. read more

Definitely come for the breakfasts as these are the best item menus. I've had several of the lunch sandwiches and some of the dinner items and the breakfast items are definitely the very best. I love the French toast the best and come about once a week. read more

The food was awesome, the carne Asada breakfast was probably one of the bests I've had. I was impressed with the homemade tortillas that came with my breakfast, now that's a rarity! Great atmosphere , clean, friendly service! They must have asked us 10 times if we needed more coffee, it was very nice. read more

Stopped here on our way through Elko. Giving 3 stars solely due to service. While we were seated promptly, it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our server. The restaurant was busy, but other tables that arrived after us were waited on first. Had to ask for our order to be taken. Food was great, coffee kept coming. We stopped there twice in April for breakfast on our way to Reno and back Simply awesome food and staff, my coffee cup was never empty. We recently came back from Sacramento and was able to stop for lunch the staff and food was excellent! Only wished it was closer to Wyoming! read more

On the day we were here the place was very busy because of the Cowboy poetry annual event was in town. Either way service was awesome and so was the food. In reading reviews from others, one needs to know the style and intent of the place. People looking for sophisticated, fancy meal will be disappointed. People looking for a family style meal, with the warm and engaging people, with honest, real, good food, will be thrilled. We were there for a late lunch. Our server was extremely kind and explained the menu, process, and local favorites The Pico Punch had a touch of Vicks 44, but that's exactly what it should taste like. The quantities are huge. Cabbage soup broth was delicious. Italian bread would be better if warmed, but still good. The salad was robustly tossed and the dressing had a nice touch of garlic. The steak sandwich was tender and had an excellent marinade/flavor. Fries: very greasy and not their finest moment. We have family in Iowa and this all felt similar: Midwest friendliness, warmth, and good food. We were leaving at 445 and the line had grown to 20 for dinner! Appeared to be locals/regulars. As another noted, yes, there are brothels just down the street. Hey, it adds to the local charm!

There are many framed pictures along the wall, and some baskets hung as well. The restaurant and bathroom are exceptionally clean. The waitress is very kind and full of personality. Told her I had some food allergies and she seemed to know the menu very well and told me what to stay clear of. I ordered the SHISH TAWOOK and my husband ordered the chicken rolls. After 15 minutes, they came back to the table to tell us that they were out of chicken rolls. So he ordered the same thing as me. The food came out on a wooden board similar to a charcuterie board. There were six small pieces of chicken, and the sides of hummus, rice, and tabbouleh . I ordered a side of pita as well. The chicken was flavored perfectly. However, the chicken was overcooked and dry. The rest of the plate was delicious. The pita was very good as well. We both really enjoyed this meal. The only thing that brings my score down was the overcooked chicken. Otherwise it would have been perfect. This place gets 4.7 stars. I would definitely come back

During a recent trip through Nevada on our way to another state, my wife and I had a pleasant breakfast at the Coffee Mug, during which I observed cheerful employees and a seemingly cheerful local clientele. I enjoyed the breakfast. It was standard fare, but reasonably well prepared. I only soured on the place when, as we were about to leave, my wife brought to my attention a "Let's Go Brandon" sign prominently displayed on the wall. Though I don't have thin skin, I was offended and saddened by this hateful display. This sign is not only a big middle finger to the fairly-elected President of the United States, but is also a middle finger to interstate travelers, such as my wife and me, who don't share the owner's Trumpian politics. We had just put money in this person's cash register when we saw a sign that functioned as a big f--k you to people who think as we do. In earlier times, business owners would never even have considered publicly expressing themselves with such coarseness and invective. Our common culture is in decline, as the provocative sign revealed. read more

The service at this restaurant was truly impressive. We came in as a group of seven, and shortly after, a party of 20 arrived. Despite the sudden rush, the staff handled everything smoothly. The bussers and other employees all jumped in to help the waitresses, and it was clear they worked well as a team. Everyone seemed happy to lend a hand, which made the experience feel even more pleasant. Our waitress was especially attentive and made sure everything was perfect for our table--she really nailed it.However, the food was just okay. While the service was top-notch, the pies were a bit of a letdown. The cream pie, in particular, wasn't fresh, and the cream had an odd crunchy texture. It's a shame because the rest of the experience was so positive. Great service can elevate a meal, but the food needs to hold up too. Overall, it was a mixed experience--excellent service, but the food felt pretty standard. read more

Seriously!!! I just read the review of Shawna Chapman and I seriously feel Diane (if you're still managing/own) the restaurant you need to talk to your waitress about this!!! There is absolutely NO WAY a customer should be treated like this!!! I know the group who went in there and I know for a fact they always spend a lot of money AND tip VERY well!!! Shame on you all for this BAD behaviour to customers!!! Esp people who have been so loyal to you! This was this ladies first time in Elko but the rest are from there and how dare you-waitress treat anyone like this!!! My daughter is a waitress and would never ever treat anyone this way!!! I am beyond angry and disgusted!!! I will NEVER go back there again and trust me I'll let others know!!! read more

Our first meal in Elko since moving here was at Coffee Mug, and we couldn't have chosen a better spot to kick things off! The French toast was absolutely delightful, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The biscuits and gravy were hearty, plentiful, and absolutely delicious--comfort food at its finest! The friendly atmosphere and great service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back for more! Highly recommend this gem for anyone in town. read more

We moved to Elko from out of State. We were looking for a restaurant. A friend told us to try the Coffee Mug. We were very pleased. My husband is Gluten Free and the Waitress named Lisa was very helpful she was able to get my husband an excellent breakfast. She knew her Job was able to work on our issues. Lisa was very professional friendly and fast. We definitely will add this to the top of our eating places. Vickie read more

On a cross-country trip heading east and this place was recommended by the local Marriott. Desserts are handmade daily, we had live music on a Friday night (closed the place with a moving rendition of Laredo--what a treat!), and the food and atmosphere were excellent. Our server Vanessa was welcoming and personable. Highly recommended; one of the highlights of our trip. If I were a local, I'd be a regular. read more

Great food. Wonderful, perfectly prepared prime rib. We enjoyed the staff and atmosphere so much we went back the next night for pie and coffee. Highly recommend. Prices are very reasonable, but don't let the price fool you. It may be inexpensive, but the food is as delicious as you'd expect at a high end restaurant! read more

I definitely didn't think that it was that good i had to wait for half an hour just to eat, but the food is very tasty I definitely didn't think it was worth the wait but there was good service and I would eat there again if it wasn't crowded. So I recommend it if you don't mind the wait. read more
