35 minutes and no food. We paid for our drinks and left for our appointment with no food. Poorly run restaurant if managed at all. They have two small flat top grills to cook on which is no where near enough space not to mention two cooks with no help at their stations. Breakfast the quickest and easiest meal to prepare and serve but evidently not. There will be no second chance here. Menu was lackluster with extra charges like hash browns that are included with a two egg breakfast everywhere else but not here. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! We opted to sit outside on probably the nicest day of the summer so far. We were there around 9:30 and had to wait for about 10 minutes for our table. The hostess was extremely friendly and pointed out the bar for us to get drinks if we were interested. I highly recommend the blueberry lemonade and vodka! They put fresh blueberries in it! Delicious and refreshing!!! My husband had the bloody Mary and it came with lots of additions and a shorty chaser for an extra $1. This restaurant is dog friendly and has water bowls ready to fill for anyone who brings theirs with. Our waitress was very pleasant and our food was served pretty quickly considering how busy it was. We had biscuits and gravy and a half poindexter (which is very similar to a garbage place at Franks). The prices are very reasonable and I can see why this place has such great reviews. My family loves the coffee pot. My daughter asks to go here whenever we go out to breakfast. I have found the specials, which they write on a dry erase board behind the counter, to be their best offerings. My daughter ordered the caramel apple french toast, a special, and it was amazing. I have tried various benedicts they offer and they were all very good. It is a small place so it can become very crowded on the weekends. They have a nice outdoor seating are in the summer. read more

I can only give this place 4 stars because I've only just been here one time. But this place hit the spot for me and my wife. Not only was the food amazing but the service and the quick delivery was right on point. Next time we get the chance to come out here to visit her family we will be coming back and if it's as good as it was I will give it 5 stars. Had the French toast, half order biscuits and gravy, single pancake, eggs, bacon, toast and hasbrowns. Loved it all but the stand out was biscuits and gravy! Food was decent but the wait staff ignored me before during and after I ordered, to the point of being a studied practice! My sister and I came from Lake Villa, Illinois to have breakfast at the coffee pot. Boy oh boy I wish we went somewhere else. Our waitress had a personality of a rock. A young girl with blond hair. Didn't even say good morning to us just came right up to us and asked if we want something to drink. So we got our coffee and she took our order. I order the corn beef hash and over easy eggs and my sister order a mushroom and Jack cheese omelette. Well, I got over hard eggs and burnt hash browns and about 2 pieces of Corn beef hash. My sister got a Mushroom and cold American cheese omelette..we told our server and she offered my sister a new omelette but we didn't want to wait another 40 mins..yes, 40 mins for our food in a restaurant that had about 5 ppl in it! Ugh oh and she never came back to refill our coffee or ask how our cold food was. But when she drop the check the omelette and coffee was off the bill. That was nice. The best breakfast food I've had. They have their own homemade bread that they use for the toast and it is so good! I usually order the omni-benny which is like eggs benedict with bacon and other breakfast meats as well as a bunch of veggies including zuchinni (I can't remember everything that's in it). The service is always great even though they have been packed everytime I've been there. All the servers work together so you don't have one particular waitress. My only complaint is how busy it gets. If you want to go on a weekend, get there really early or expect to wait in line. read more

Happened on this cozy little diner. Don't let the size fool you! The friendly staff were buzzing like bees and food was flying off the grill! I had the banana bread french toast with a side of bacon! Delish! My friend had the italian beef omelett that was to die for! My other friend had the smoked salmon benedict on their homemade toast. The hollandaise tastes home made and it was topped with fresh dill and capers! We all shared our meals and were literally purring it was so good! Did I mention the bacon bloody mary? Started going to The Coffee Pot for around 30 years. The owner was Bob and his coffee would help the fish to bite early. Went there a lot but nothing on his menu really seemed better than the coffee. I stopped going fishing after my brother (who in-trod it to me) past along with the coffee pot. Years later my wife told me one of her friends and another lady bought it. I guess there were hard times after that. But as time past all hell broke loose when it came to food. Since retiring I've ate at The Coffee Pot often. The heat in the summer on the little patio is almost impossible to bare. And the flipping bees just drove you crazy as you sipped Tea in the afternoon. Inside, some aren't your friends and some seem alittle weird, but your friends are there too. I have to say though, the food in the morning is what this little hole on the wall (yes it's small) is all about. You can eat breakfast along side almost anyone because they are there for the food and no one can say enough about the staff. Friendly, like you were in you own kitchen with the fam in this homey eatery. The Menu is great and you are (most mornings) tempted to try something you wouldn't try else where. Parking's a b-tch most days and maybe you should stay away so I can get just one place to hide this beater I drive. That and all these terrible people and wait staff of bees.
