I was running late for work because of the red line having delays. I got off at south station and was miffed that i couldn't make my usual DD run before catching my bus to Newton. Whilst walking to the bus stop, I saw this business. Then I saw that they had almond milk. This gal was sold. I asked San if they were cash only as I only had plastic. San said, "no, we take cards and Australian currency if you have it!" That gave me a laugh. I'm not supposed to have coffee everyday but I can't help it. Especially if it's this good. I love that this coffee shop is run on a tricycle. I love that San and his colleague were super awesome. My coffee was delicious in every way, and they have almond milk. I shall be back quite soon. First the basics - a delicious latte, probably the best since Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in La Jolla (which is more of a place for fancy latte variations anyway), whereas this is a no-frills, trike-based mini coffee setup. I'm far from a coffee expert. I used to go to Starbucks regularly and happily. I just didn't know coffee could taste this good until I sampled a mocha from The Coffee Trike. That was a few years ago. San has totally spoiled Starbucks for me and its syrupy mochas are only a last resort now. My eyes are open and now I see. I've since been to many of the quality coffee places around the Boston area, and The Coffee Trike is by far my favorite. San's customer service skills are superb. He always greets you with a smile and engages you in friendly conversation. And the coffee really is some of the best in the area, if not THE best. I often take a break from the workday to go out, chat with San, and grab a coffee, even if I don't especially want one. I've had so many great conversations with other people in line over the years and it's always a great change of pace from the dull fluorescent lighting of the office. Sometimes you want to go to the coffee trike that knows your name. There's one equation for whether or not I'll be getting coffee from San at The Coffee Trike first thing in the morning. It's a combination of 1) Is he there, 2) How late am I running for work, and 3) How long is the line. That's it. If the formula aligns, this is how my morning begins. Excellent coffee. Great conversation. I'm not one for making easy conversation with strangers, but I once felt some alpaca yarn another customer was knitting with while standing in line here. It's exactly that kind of place. For busy bodies in a hurry, this may not be your spot. The line is often several people deep and San's beverages take time, which is okay because he'll know your name and remember what you said your weekend plans were and ask you about them. San is a fantastic barista. He runs an incredible business with excellent customer service. To those who have never been- San is a barista that has a mobile coffee trike. He can serve any espresso drink. He'll teach you all about the beans, the espresso process. Before coming here, I knew very little about coffee. Now I have my own espresso machine and love making it every morning. My appreciation for espresso is through the roof. In addition to being a great barista, San is incredibly friendly. Like your first kiss, you never forget your first flat white. In my case, San's is the one I will compare all others to (flat white, not kiss). 8 ounces of perfection: creamy frothy milk gently folded into dark, flavorful espresso (in this case Daterra Northern Italian Style from George Howell). Imagine lounging in bed, snuggled in your warm, freshly-laundered sheets and reading a book all morning. This is pretty much that in an 8 oz paper cup. Along with amazingly delicious coffee (the cold press is also amazing and a nice refreshing way to caffeinate on a warm day), San provides knowledgeable and charming service. Definitely well worth taking a detour on your usual bike/transit/walking commute (also at the SoWa open market while that's in season). Yesterday it was pouring outside and I wasn't having the best of days, but San's cheery demeanor and an amazing cortado helped. I don't drink coffee extremely often but when I do I like to enjoy it so I go out of my way to find a nice cup. The Coffee Trike parks itself right near south station but I don't see it much as it tends to arrive after I get there for work be gone before I leave for the day. I finally was able to stop by the other day, and got a chance to see what all the hype was about. I was first greeted by San, who is funny, charming, and knowledgeable and immediately put a smile on my face. I ordered a cappuccino which he prepared expertly as he described the tropical and melon flavors of the beans and how they reminded him of a snack he used to have back in Australia. I honestly would have been happy paying him just for the experience but the coffee was a nice bonus. Anyway, I took one sip and was amazed, this was easily some of the best coffee I have ever tasted and once it cooled down a bit I could really taste all those intricate fruit flavors he had been describing. Overall, this is what coffee is about, if you are a coffee fiend and drink it every day it may be a bit pricey, but worth every penny. I strongly suggest you treat yourself every once you'll be glad you did. read more

I love cold brew, and I had heard great things about this place, but found that my coffee didn't really have much flavor. It was not bad coffee, it just kind of tasted like a decent iced coffee, not a fancy $3.50-for-a-small-cup cold brew. I will say that the lattes looked amazing, and I will certainly be back to try again, because the guy behind the trike is very friendly, and clearly knowledgeable and passionate about coffee. Just got some coffee here for the first time today. I work in the area, and was going to get an afternoon cup of sbucks, when I spotted the coffee trike across the street. The cuteness of it caught my eye, and I decided to forgo sbucks. So glad I did! It is the best cup of coffee you can get around the south station area -- even rivals the Thinking Cup. It is super cute, and San is friendly and pulls a great espresso!! This is an awesome find! He even gives a frequent buyers card...buy 6, get the 7th free.
