    House made sauces and salsas

As one sometimes is, this story begins with a van full of 7 hungry ladies driving through Lawrenceburg, KY. We began googling places to eat and happened upon a listing for The Colombian Corner. "Colombian food? In Lawrenceburg?," we asked ourselves. "Why sure," we answered. This ended up being quite possibly the best decision we've made in a very, very long time. The Colombian Corner is a family-owned Colombian restaurant (mom, dad, 3 brothers) located in a regular-appearing strip mall. It, however is NOT regular. It is unique, local, delicious, and truly a treasure. We were greeted warmly, supplied with complimentary plantain chips and creole sauce, and given a rundown of both the specials and any regular menu items about which we had questions. They also made sure to explain which items could be altered and adjusted to fit any dietary preferences and allergy needs. Juices and sauces are made in house; there are at least 7 salsa/sauces - my favorites were the spicy green salsa and the creole sauce (SO much delicious garlic). I ordered the vegan platter: sauteed mushrooms, corn, white rice, pinto beans, yuca fries, and plantains. SO good, SO fresh, and enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Although The Colombian Corner is about 1 hour away from home, I am absolutely upon and willing to make the trip to Lawrenceburg just to eat here again.

Greeted at door. Service was excellent. Explained menu and specials. Brought us a little bread treat. Everything was amazing. My daughter is vegetarian and they made her a vegetarian sampler. Cheese empanadas was my fave! Super clean. Would go back anytime!

The service was amazing and friendly! The food was equally as amazing. Super yummy vegetarian options and my husband got the steak. He said it was the best meal to date since we arrived in Kentucky! Only sad they are too far away from us to come more often.

This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you! We were greeted so warmly as soon as we walked in. The gentleman taking our order was helpful explaining their menu offerings. We started with the mango juice. It seems like they have different juices each day and they were out of one. It was delicious! For our meals we ordered the Bandeja Paisa and this chicken and cheese dish (I forget the name). Both dishes felt prepared-to-order, fresh, and homemade. Hot, great flavors, and presented really nicely. Our waiter recommended the dessert special of the day. He said it was a family recipe. I don't know what they were called but I can still taste them now - guava-filled dough with a creamy sweet dipping sauce. Melt in your mouth!!

My wife and I tried The Colombian Corner tonight at Eagle Lake in Lawrenceburg. They're fairly new. According to the owner, they are the only authentic Colombian restaurant in Kentucky. It was fantastic! My wife had chicken arepitas--a spiced corn meal cake--and I had bandeja paisa (pictured)--sort of a sampler platter with beans, rice, chorizo, pork belly, pork and egg. They give you an assortment of sauces so you can experiment. Great food, people, portions and prices! We'll be back. 5/5

Great food! I love their vegetarian options, it's the only place in the area where you can be served delicious plantains and cassava/yuca.

Food was great. Had the Picadia for 1. Make sure to get salad on the side or in a different container. Definitely would get again.

That's how I found out about them! One of the staff came over and explained the menu to us. Super helpful and friendly! My friend and I started off with los jugos naturales. Mango and passion fruit. Delicious! Sometimes drinking something sweet compliments eating something savory. We shared all the food: buñuelos, patacón ( it looked like tostones topped with guacamole and different meats), arepa de carne, and sides of frijoles and rice. The sides were large too! I was very impressed with the portions. We ordered too much to share between the two of us. But I'm glad we tried a few things! There was a lot to choose from on the menu. Everything was good. Fresh, flavorful, and well presented. I loved that they played salsa music in the background and had Spanish language channels on the TV. It's such a great ambiance that I can't wait to go back! The food was so good. And they offer items that I've never tried before. Love it here! It's kind of tucked off the usual strip of businesses in Gardiner Lane. It's on the side of the building between King Buffet and Planet Fitness. Tons of parking!

The homemade sauces are to die for, let's just start there. And second, I'll admit that I've gotten carryout from there two days in a row. I will say that the online ordering platform on Yelp is powered by Grubhub and the prices vary from the dine in menu. The torta here is literally the best in Lexington, and I've eaten them from more local places than I care to admit. The bread was so fresh that I'm thinking it was homemade. The steak option literally looked like it had a pound of beef on it. The melted cheese and the guacamole were fantastic as well. It was like a fat cheese steak sandwich at half the cost of a usual cheese steak sandwich. Oh, and it also comes with an order of fries, which is a nice surprise. I've also had the chicken burrito plate. It comes with two burritos, rice, beans, cheese sauce and guacamole. The guacamole and cheese sauce is sooo good. I think the white queso is a regional thing and I'm glad, it's my favorite. I recommend asking for the cheese sauce on the side so that you can add some to the rice. Thank me later.

We then moved onto the cochinita and the mushroom based tortilla. The cochinita was a good sized serving topped with an orange sauce. I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly and it was a pleasant surprise. My wife had the mushroom tortilla dish which the mushrooms themselves were good, but we noticed the tortilla felt as if it wasn't cooked all the way through and had a doughy taste to it still. The tortilla may have been too thick but either way it was slightly off putting. To drink we split a Jamaica with mint which was delicious and hydrating. It was mainly a mint leaf that added the slight mint flavor so it didn't over power the hibiscus. Would highly recommend. For a desert we had a Mexican tiramisu which was overall a great end to the overall food. Only negative was the mandarins slice on the top of the dessert was very tart which clashed with the sweetness of the dessert. The ambiance was decent and had low light setting which was nice, we personally did not like how close together the seats were as it made it seem like the just wanted to cram as many people into the area to maximize profits. Would be nice to have a bit more space. Speaking of profit, I do believe the dishes were solid but I truthfully don't think the prices are worth it. I understand the farm fresh is a huge part of it, but when you're selling 3 tacos for 25$ it's clear there's a specific group of people this is geared towards in addition to the part of town. This is the main reason I am giving it a 4/5. The service was exemplary and our server was on time, very polite and was amazing at giving recommendations. She was the one that recommended the starter. Overall would come here sporadically or for special occasions but would not make it a regular occurrence due to pricing.
