Ive been to a number of comedy clubs and this one is by far the worst in LA. Idk how it was before covid, but these days its 1. Absolutely gross inside, the bathrooms in airplanes are nicer. You could not pay me to eat here. 2. The staff just does not give AF about you. They are rude or overworked. 3. Shows start over an hour late, they use big names to get you in the seat but then those people dont show....there are MUCH better clubs. Try the Improv or laugh factory over this spot. The acts here were great! They have you laughing for sure. It's a small place, so you'll be sitting on top of one another. They have a limited food option, so don't come hungry. But that's for the best due to the small tables and limited spacing. read more

I moved out of state 30 years ago and missed being able to go the the Comedy Store for a night of laughs. The first four comedians had funny material and made an effort to be funny. The last two did not. Both barely made an effort . It is always interesting when a comedian begins to blame the crowd for no laughs. Don Barris was not funny at all. He must perform for 6th graders who think being rude and gross is cool. He was pathetic. He could star in his own movie: The Death of a Comedian". read more

Iconic spot, friendly people. Yes there is a two drink minimum. Yes seats are first come first serve. I don't know why people are giving bad reviews for this fact when it's stated up front? The waitress offered to make our drink a double to satisfy the two drink minimum but I chose not to. My only complaint with the space is there doesn't seem to be enough wait staff. I wish our gal came back more often, but it seems like they have a routine where they make their rounds in order of the tables and don't just come check on you. food options are fairly nonexistent and the pizza was hard as a rock. the pretzels looked good though. read more

2/5 Stars - Service Issues Overshadowed the Comedy Visited the Comedy Store tonight and while the comedy was great, our experience was significantly impacted by poor service. We encountered a blonde female server who was notably rude when discussing the 2-drink minimum policy. I want to be clear - we completely understand that venues have drink minimums and we respect that as a business policy. However, as non-drinkers (I'm personally in recovery), we were looking to meet the minimum with non-alcoholic beverages and food orders. The real issue came when our server forgot our food order entirely. We sat through the show hungry while she seemed more focused on enforcing drink policies than actually providing service. A simple "I apologize, let me get that food order in right away" would have gone a long way. We're not asking for special treatment - just basic courtesy and competent service. When you're paying for an experience, especially at a well-known venue like this, you expect staff to be professional regardless of what you're ordering. The comedians were fantastic and the venue itself has great energy. Unfortunately, one staff member's attitude and forgetfulness really put a damper on what should have been a fun night out. Management might want to remind servers that customer service applies to all guests, whether they're ordering top-shelf liquor or club soda. Call me Frankie J because this is my obsession. I"M DYING FOR IT TO REOPEN. It's my favorite thing to do in WeHo...Neigh, in all of LA. There is nowhere else you can find such talented comics for $10 or $20 plus a couple drinks. There's just nothing like it. This place has been the start of many ultra-uber-famous comedians but don't get it twisted. Tons of famous comedians STILL play here, work out material or just genuinely enjoy the standup aspect of things. I've been to many amateur nights, as well, and even the non 'famous' comedians bring it. And Jeff Ross roasting people? Classic. It's just always a good night at The Comedy Store. You may want to leave after a few laugh makers get your belly rolling...the night can go deep into the dark sometimes lasting until 1am ish. But stay! You never know what you might miss. Comedy is subjective, but I think everyone can agree that not allowing for heckling at a comedy show leads to dry comedy. There was no banter between comedians and audience, only comedians punching down on audience. and way too many damn sex jokes. Pricing is terrible. Tickets had surcharge online, parking was like $20, and a two drink minimum. I swear even big name comedians that sell out theatres go for about the same as a night here, all fees considered. I went to the Main Room for the 'Best Of' 8pm show on a Wednesday night and it was great! There were a variety of comics that I can't even remember all of their names but the show wrapped up at 11:30 there were so many. There is a 2 item minimum, but there was a pretty good selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options! I got the persecco and it came in one of the mini-bottles so it was more like a glass and a half which isn't bad for $17. read more

Amy Miller, Craig Conant, and another woman with brown hair and glasses were all hilarious! so they do have a few good ones. The comedy store itself feels outdated and kind of gross feeling to be in, and honestly the majority of the people we saw were not funny at all. Mostly guys crying about not being able to get laid by women- a lot of the time it felt like the crowd was uncomfortable a lot of the time they laughed. And they seemed like they were the regulars. and at the end of the night they let an older man come up, who joked about underage women being Adult entertainers. The nostalgia here is very enjoyable. Seeing all the great comedians that have come through those curtains. Truly a landmark that should be recognized by historical leather bound books. I was sexually harassed by Don Barris in the middle of a show at The Comedy Store. Didn't know who he was, didn't know he was going on stage, and it was completely disgusting and traumatizing. He targeted me during "crowd work" and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I got up and left. It's horrific to know that this establishment has been hiring him for years knowing that he constantly harasses the paying audience members. (didn't know he did this until I researched him afterwards but now I know he's been doing standup here for years) I will never go back. Actor Kirk Fox also made a joke about checking out underaged girls. Men who are predators like this do not deserve a platform. The Comedy Store is unsafe for women. read more

The comedy store in my opinion is a mixed bag. First and foremost, all of the comedians were actually funny and professional. I have seen a lot of comedy shows throughout the city and this is no easy feat. We also got to go to another show after ours for free where the talent was equally good. On the other hand, the location is difficult to access and parking was a bit of a nightmare. The kitchen is closed so there is no food. For a 7 pm show, food or even snacks would be ideal. But, judging from the limited drinks selection, and how slow they come out, we were probably better off with no food. Who does not carry coconut rum? Also, they ask you to order both of your minimum 2 drinks at the same time. Not so they can stagger it out. But so they can give you 2 glasses of wine or pints of beer at the same time. What? If you are going to charge us the penalty of automatic 18% for coming out as a group, the least that you can do is give us some service. In reality, being able to group your customers drinks on one check makes it easier on you so why the penalty?! After we left, recovering our cars from the nearby 15 dollar parking lot required waiting for the car attendants to acrobatically move cars around so that you could access yours. When comparing this spot to the sleek machine that is Hollywood improv, it's tricky bc their comics suck 50/50 but the service, food and parking are so much better. read more

I am giving 3 stars because we were lucky enough to see Tom Dreesen on the bill. Tom is a class act! The other comics on the bill all seemed to blend together. I couldn't tell one from the other and some looked like they rolled out of bed. The bum look is just embarrassing. As mentioned above Tom Dreesen showed everyone how stand up SHOULD BE even in 2024. Food was ridiculous....$22 for some tiny frozen pizza suitable only as survival food. Service was pleasant enough from the door guy to the waitress. Piano player was far too loud...you couldn't carry on a conversation. The Comedy Store has an amazing history but stand-up has changed almost beyond recognition today with it's carefully chosen topics and woke politically correct nonsense! Iconic. We paid a little extra to get a booth and it was worth it to not have to discuss our marriage for the sake of the comedians crowd work. Towards the end of the show before the last couple comics some drunk girl stumbled in and sat in the back, giving obnoxious drunken commentary through an entire set. Security finally came through and told her to GTFO which I really appreciated but wish she would have gotten kicked out earlier. We went to a show in the Original Room and only wish I had been in town longer to also sit in the Main Room and Belly Room. Our server came through to get drink orders before the show and informed me I could make my drink a double to meet my two drink minimum so I did that. read more

Always love the comedy store! This time tried the late night show. Excellent comedians and the service was great as usual! However they started like an hour late so the show went way past the time it was supposed to end. You could tell the comedians were starting to loose the room and people were leaving. Super fun night of comedy. Saw "headliners of the OR" on a Saturday. The show was top notch and worth every penny. However the 7 o'clock show was closer to 90 minutes than 2 hours and other shows were closer to 3 hours. If I were to come again I would definitely not purchase an early show ticket because it was the same price as other shows but half the length with less bigger names. Lots of comedians were there watching the show but weren't interested in doing an extra set to make the show longer which is a bit of a bummer. I hope to come back in the future but I wo t be buying tickets until I know who's performing. read more

The staff at The Comedy Store were great, all of them I interacted with were super friendly and funny, and all comedians themselves according to the guy who explained house rules before we were seated. The funniest part was how easily I was convinced to upgrade to the booth seat for $40 cash (which I didn't have on me) The ATM was outside down the street a bit, got to enjoy some Hollywood wildlife while withdrawing my cash, like this older gentleman dressed in his Sunday best, (hat w/ feather included) who strolled by chatting up the line of people waiting to get in; he invited all to take communion with him by offering his doobie. Seemed nice. Drinks at the bar before the show weren't part of the 2 item minimum, which was explained, totally got drinks while waiting anyway. Boot seat was the way to go. Didn't get food, drinks were good (strong) I can't remember all the names I saw that night, but everybody was great minus one whom I didn't really like their humor style. Arsenio still got it, Ali Wong as the surprise guest was fantastic, and the Roast Master Jeff Ross gave a performance that was unlike anything I have seen from him, this was right at the beginning of the Israel/Hamas conflict; it was both equally hilarious & touching. Bobby Lee was just touching. MC for the night deserves a shout out as well as the Piano Boy, can't remember names, so does our server. A veteran of the waiting game, she floated across the room at a 90° angle, swiftly clearing empties and delivering the "okay one more" rounds. I didn't get the water I ordered for last last round though, but I took a Lyft so not a huge deal. The negatives only being the no water, the ATM outside, and it was my first time so I didn't know there were 3 rooms, and wasn't informed, (but that's where the outside bar was and my actual line didn't have that perk, the upgrade to the booth made it not matter anyway.) Luckily the other couple swapped us spots so that dude and myself can be behind our ladies. (Do that more often, honest suggestion.) Anyways, the comedians rocked Adam Day was my favorite, my girlfriend's was Steph. Everyone else was great!. Ordered: 2 soft drinks ( $4.00) Ginger Ale $4.00 and Pino Griggio $8.00 Food: chicken tenders $10w/ fresh potato chips added $3. Served with BBQ dressing, Ranch Dressing , & ketchup. My total bill was Total bill $17. $13 for food, $4.00 for coke. Pro: asked for coke ( fountain drink) with NO ice. This saves on actually getting your product and not getting screwed. Only issue was I paid general admission for this show, go in and was seated in a really nice seat (front row of the section I was in) then the staff had me move back a few rows so that a couple (who paid the same amount per ticket as I did) could sit there instead. And it wasn't like they were lacking in solo attenders. There were 3 others around me who came alone as well. The couple was so sweet and I don't blame them, I just hate how this venue values couples as opposed to solo attendees. It's not like the seat next to me was going to go un-filled. read more

I came to this comedy club for a fun night out while visiting from out of town, hoping for a great experience--after all, I've been to plenty of comedy clubs over the years and I know what a good night of laughs looks like. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a comedy venue. First off, we were excited to see the show but quickly became frustrated when we were seated in the back, despite there being plenty of open seats closer to the stage. We were trying to make the best of it, but the sound was terrible, and we could barely hear the jokes. My cousin and I kept asking each other, "Did you hear that right?" because we honestly couldn't tell if it was the mic cutting out or if the jokes just weren't funny. Several of the jokes were about pedophilia, being attracted to children, jokes about rape and abduction, and incest. They crossed lines that turned the jokes from funny to really gross and uncomfortable. And I am a very open-minded person that can laugh at pretty much anything without getting offended. But that was just strange and gave me icky vibes. Several people walked out before the end of the show in disappointment and probably discomfort. One of the comedians, in particular, was downright painful to watch. She seemed completely out of it--slurring her words, barely making sense, and screaming in a way that felt more aggressive than comedic. She spent her entire set looking around for "ammunition" from the crowd, trying to make jokes based on people's appearances (which, to be fair, can work if done right). However, her attempts fell flat and were just awkward. To top it off, she went way over her time, and the whole thing felt like an eternity. We were waiting silently for someone to take her off, because we were bored and it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Things took a bizarre turn when my guest and I quietly started talking to each other in the back to try and make sense of the jokes, since we couldn't hear anything. A manager approached us and scolded us for "heckling" by laughing at the wrong parts of the set. We tried to explain that we weren't laughing at the comedian but trying to understand the jokes so we could actually enjoy ourselves. His response? "You're not laughing at the right parts, so you need to pay attention to the punchlines." When we pointed out that we couldn't hear, his answer was, "I know, because you're in the back." When we asked why we were seated there, he said, "I don't know, but you should have asked to be moved." We asked if we could be moved, and he told us it was too late. We asked for a refund since the experience was horrible and we didn't get to see the end of the show, and he said "you're not getting your money back and these people will escort you out." Two workers walked us out and one of them said we should complain because we were sat in the ADA seats when we didn't request them and there was a lot of space in the venue. It was baffling--this entire interaction. The vibe was just off, and we felt like we were being blamed for the poor experience. The food was horrendous--pizzas, pretzels, and cookies (the comedians were even trying to make jokes about how terrible the food was, but they weren't funny either). Honestly, we were so disappointed in every aspect of the night that we were actually relieved we got kicked out early to try and find a little fun somewhere else. We ended up having a much better time just talking to each other and random people at nearby bars, laughing more in five minutes than we did in the entire two-hour show. It's such a shame because I had high hopes for this place, but the terrible talent, indifferent staff, and awful food made it clear that they have a long way to go. I truly hope they reevaluate their management, improve their talent selection, and figure out how to make their guests feel welcome. I'm I'm LA on vacation and was so excited to go to the Comedy Store! This is where it happens right? Not tonight. August 13 2021. OMG. Our group felt sooo uncomfortable with 70% of the acts. Not only not funny, but not even jokes. Political statements that didn't ever hit a joke. This was to be the highlight of our trip. Now we will go find something else to enjoy as this was NOT it!! The Comedy Store is the pillow princess of comedy clubs. The location and history is iconic but the actual experience is pretty bad by even the laxest of standards. My biggest complaint is the seating and the process of getting everyone seated. Doors do not open when they say they do so you end up waiting an hour outside for no reason. If you don't wait in that line, you're getting a bad seat probably. "VIP bench seats" are some of the worst seats in the house. It's also placed right by the hallway with doors they DO NOT CLOSE so you hear everything going on down the hallway and outside during the show. I honestly think it's an inside joke to scam out of town people who don't know any better. If you're not rolling 4 people deep and getting a booth, be prepared to have some weird cramped experience with a stranger basically on your lap or in your personal space. Food menu is terrible microwave style pizzas and pretzels and THAT'S IT. Drinks are $18, tiny and nothing special. Parking is not close and $21. Staff has an attitude and legitimately asks for "tips" (aka a bribe) at the front before seating you. They make you choose which two drinks you want at the beginning instead of naturally letting you have one and then order another based on how you feel. Food purchases do not go towards the 2 drink minimum, unlike other comedy clubs. The no phone policy is good. They make you put it in a yonder bag. Also I would caution anyone against buying tickets online. Several people around us paid up to $1200 for fake tickets for their group. The Comedy Store STILL let them in, which is probably why it was so miserably crowded on the "VIP Bench." My advice for visitors is to eat dinner before, order two sodas to keep the cost down, and pay extra for the booth. Go drink before or after someplace else if you really wanted alcohol. This place can be OK if you do it properly and come in with the right expectations. My advice for the club is to remove the seats behind the pole others have complained about. Get rid of the "bench" style seating (it sucks) or seat way less people at them. Remove the total number of seats so that proper tables and room is available for everyone who buys a ticket. I'm talking tons of two people tables so you're not sharing one on a date night and some 4 or 6 people tables for larger groups. Open the doors at the advertised time, not an hour later. Get real food. If you don't have a proper kitchen, perhaps there's a way to get a food truck in the back to use as a kitchen. If there's really no kitchen and the food truck kitchen isn't an option, have people order food ahead of time online and cater the food in. read more

When planning out my trip to LA, The Comedy Store was the top thing on my wish list. I am so glad I was able to go, but there is definitely room for improvement in the experience. Tickets for a Sunday night show were easy to purchase online and relative inexpensive. Staff at the door and at the ticket counter were very friendly. Our server was just okay. There is a 2 drink minimum, which is standard for comedy clubs, but the server really pushed for us to order both at once. You could tell she really didn't want to check on us much - and she definitely did not check in often during a 3 hour show. They also don't sell any kind of food. Honestly I thought selling some kind of food was legally required if you sold alcohol, so this was super surprising and disappointing. My blood sugar dropped very low and I felt trapped in the room without any options for a quick snack to bring me back up. (I know my blood sugar is my own problem, but I didn't even consider that I wouldn't have ANY option for food here - lesson learned!). I felt bad for the people who went on stage at the end. The crowd was fizzing out (some even leaving all together) and I wonder if offering food would help keep the crowd's energy up? Drinks are expensive but pretty strong, so I guess that evens out. My double margarita was $40. The doors opened about 20 minutes later than stated on the website.
