The Nantucket Pie was excellent!!! Shrimp, scallops, haddock, and lobster!! Delicious

We came to The Common Man Restaurant for dinner yesterday, May 20th 2026, while on vacation in Ashland NH and it was the best meal we have had all week in NH! The meal was exceptional! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for friendly service and great food in a clean and very interesting environment! Our server, Maddy, was wonderful with a beautiful smile and demeanor! The general manager, Patrick, helped us with a discount from the resort we are staying at and he couldn't have been nicer! This is the restaurant you are looking to try!! You won't be disappointed

I have been coming here since I was a kid and it has always been a one-of-a-kind place. The lounge upstairs and the live music really made the night when I took my boyfriend here for our anniversary. We ordered a few things to share; the uncommon salad, sesame tuna, onion soup, mussels, and escargot. Additionally, our drinks were tasty and the staff was eager to please. It was a nice date night.

Such a great place! We felt like we were welcomed into someone's home. Never been to NH before. Went for the fall foliage of New England. Not disappointed. Food was fantastic! Service was great! So fun to see the area where On Golden Pond was filmed. The Bar upstairs, totally cool!!

Service was great. Bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious as was the cornbread it came with. The crispy pork sammie was not crispy and overall boring. A nice casual and cozy interior with sofas and chairs groups to enjoy food and drinks.

Here for a quick lunch. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Took about 7-8 minutes after our soup and starter to serve our entrees. Drink: Common Man Ale. Standard. Less hoppy than typical golden ale. Soup: lobster corn chowder. Thickly made, generous portions of lobster meat and corn, seasoning was good. Starter: special escargot, snail meat taken from shell and poached with cheese, butter, and served with croutons. A fun dish, snail meat tasted bouncy, cheese and butter went well with the snail and croutons. The additional bread for cheese was cold though. Entrees: my friend ordered the fall chicken and said it was a bit too salty. I had the NY sirloin steak medium rare. The menu specified that it was choice cut, so quality is not up to par with metropolitan steak houses. It also came closer to medium than medium rare. But seasoning was good, outside grill was spot-on, and inside texture remained juicy. Overall: 3.5-4 stars.

We ordered the octopus appetizer which was tender with toasted bread and seaweed salad. The chicken wings app were crispy and had a spicy rub. I had the Caesar salad with MahiMahi which was cooked perfectly. We sat in front of the fireplace, really enjoying our meal and watching the sleet outside. We'll definitely return.

We almost couldn't hear each other across a small table. Decent wine list. They had a Prisoner Chardonnay $14 and Unshackled Cabernet Sauvignon $13. I got an Oberon Sauvignon Blanc for $10. The crab cake appetizer for $18 came with two burger-sized crab cakes, a peach salsa that was the star of the show, and a dill remoulade sauce. Enough to share. However, the texture was like moist breadcrumbs, similar to falafel, and we saw no crabmeat. It was seasoned to taste like seafood, but the crab didn't show up to the party. My husband got the Tuscan filet for $43 and said it was tender but not medium rare as he ordered. It was definitely medium. I got the seafood saffron for $32 that came with two medium sized scallops, 3-4 medium shrimp and a few small pieces of lobster. I saw a few shorts threads of saffron but the sauce was sweet! Not coconut sweet, but sugary sweet. I thought it would be sherry based like a light Newburgh sauce, but no. I'm not keen on sweet seafood. I thought a lemon or sherry based light sauce would have complimented the scallops and lobster better. Sorry Breeze kitchen staff. I have to be honest, but hopefully kind. The food was plated beautifully. You set out cloth napkins. But we can't see coming back for a long while. That was our anniversary dinner. $137.91 plus tip. Swing and a miss.

We were seated right by the window with an absolutely breathtaking view of the lake. No matter what the food tasted like, this was going to be a great experience. We had been working all day, and after 12 days working the Laconia Bike Week, we were tired and just wanted someplace to relax. This was a great choice. We started with a Beet Salad for me and New England Clam Chowder for my dining partner. He seems to be on a roll to find the best clam chowder, as he's ordered it just about everywhere. He said this was good, and my salad was excellent as well. I got the Seafood Paella and he ordered the Crispy Duck. He said the duck was very good, and it came on the saffron rice that was served with my paella dish. The paella was jam packed with seafood. I'd say it's an Americanized version of paella, but was still very good. They do make saffron rice using real saffron as opposed to saffron powder. The shellfish was plentiful and had scallops, shrimp, mussels, and clams. There was edamame instead of peas, which is a bit unusual, but still good. All the seafood was cooked nicely. There was a little too much andouille sausage for my liking, which I removed. With all the food, there was no room for dessert. This was an outstanding way to end a very long week.
