We love the Common Man, so we came in here with some pretty high expectations because the Common Man is usually very good. First time coming in for breakfast, and make that the last time too. First we couldn't find a clean booth, then they had no ketchup out, and then we got our food and things continued downhill. We got the eggs benedict, the hollandaise was decent, the eggs were cooked appropriately, but the home fries were still hard with a spice we didn't like, and the English muffin was undercooked. We also got the roadie, which is just an egg sandwich on an everything bagel, with a side of home fries. More of the same here...undercooked home fries and pretty much untoasted soggy bagel. There were just young guys working there, and it was clear they didn't care about the dining area at all. I think they felt like it was just their job to cook. One of the best rest stops off the highway especially if you are heading into Boston from New Hampshire. Nice and clean. The place is warm, there's a nice environment of friendliness all around. The lines move quick and the staff is friendly. We ordered our favorite pulled pork sandwich and home fries. The food was spot on. Everytime i pass by this place will definitely make a point in stopping by, filling up the tank and enjoy a great sandwich. read more

We have stopped for coffee and gas but never for food. The Hi-Way Diner is exactly what you would expect. Decent food served relatively quickly. The reason for this review is to spotlight the two young employees who took care of me. Alexis, who took my order, was delightful! She made eye contact, was friendly, professional, enthusiastic and knew the menu! Jake made my burger. Jake was like Alexis: Friendly, polite, made great eye contact and knew how to converse. I can't remember the last time I was anywhere that two young employees were enthusiastic about their jobs, did their jobs well, were articulate, friendly and helpful. Very basic diner food - nothing outrageous. However, supremely friendly staff sets them apart. The lines go quick for the most part and there's something for everyone. It's a great alternative to turning off of the highway in search of food or a rest stop. read more

I was shocked by the cleanliness of this rest stop. The bathrooms were very well maintained. We also grabbed a couple breakfast sandwiches at the diner. The service was fast and the girls behind the counter were very friendly. One even went out of her way to get me a chocolate milk. All rest stops should be modeled after this one. read more

So my wife and I stop at this rest stop every time we go to NH and have never eaten here just do to wanting to get to where we are going we normally just grab some drinks and hit the rest rooms. But we were both a bit hungry on our last trip and decided to give the common man a try we both got vegitarian wraps and a side of fries. The food was ready much faster then I expected so I regret not getting food the others times we have been up and now we will grab food every time cuz it was great. The fries are fantastic. Only complaint would be my wife had a few pieces of bacon in her wrap luckily she's not a "karen vegitarian" and understand it happens. Honestly wish we grabbed food every time because it was really that good simple food fast and way better then a McDonald's or other fast food place. read more

It's a glorified highway rest stop, but boy is it glorified. I really liked all the choices, including customizing your own sandwich, wrap, or pizza. I got to have a wrap just like I wanted (with no hassle or mistakes). The pesto pizza is pretty good, although the chicken on top was dry and chewy. They have lots of great oddball things, like their own brand of diet root beer. Outdoor seating. Wow. I was shocked at how good this place was for a rest area. Where else can you jump off the highway and stumble into a fairly priced, quick, friendly diner and leave satisfied? My wife and I happened upon this place by chance and decided to give it a try while on a road trip and we were not disappointed. My wife got a grilled cheese and it was way above average. I got the Uncommon Cuban and I was blown away. The pulled pork they make with this is TOP NOTCH. Like. I've been to fancy BBQ joints that can't even touch this pork. The deli-sliced ham was nice and thin and was just perfect. The "fried" pickles were a nice touch as well. You have to try this sandwich, I'm telling you. It came with chips and I'm fairly certain they're made fresh here because these are not some stale, Lay's potato chips. These were excellent, not too crispy, not too salty, actual potato-potato chips and were the shape of hand cut, not machine pressed chips. Even the bread was awesome. I couldn't believe it for $10 and 5 minutes of waiting that I would get such a treat. We WILL be back the next time we road trip through here! read more

I ordered eggs benedict with regular bacon instead of canadian bacon and home fries...the person taking the order looked annoyed about the substitution. What I received was limp french fries, and muffins saturated in salt and butter, topped with eggs cooked all the way through, fatty flaccid undercooked bacon and tasteless mustard yellow hollandaise sauce with the texture of paste. I never throw food out - I always take it home. This meal was an exception. Very disappointed since this is not my usual experience at Comman Man restaurants. This diner has done nothing to distinguish itself from the usual quality of food served at roadside rest stops. I'll wait to eat until I can get somewhere good next time. read more

Ordered breakfast, the woman at the counter was unfriendly but not extremely so at this point. After 15 minutes of waiting I asked for the food to go when it was ready. She was nasty at this time but never told me there was an issue with the grill. After another 10 minutes I asked how much longer and the woman (older brunette with long hair) while searching in her purse behind the counter called for the manager and never even looked at me. On what planet is it appropriate to serve a $3.95 breakfast sandwich in a burned English Muffin? The short order cook wasn't busy, there was no line. He wasn't a careless kid, but a middle aged man, who didn't care about doing a good job, every single order.
