It is really unfortunate to have to write this review, but we feel disappointed after many years of loyal patronage. About 6 months ago, we made major and expensive upgrades to a desktop PC through The Computer Factory, including the installation of a new operating system, installed improved RAM, and a replacement and upgrade to the existing SSD. In only a few months, our newly installed SSD failed, and The Computer Factory was unwilling to help. They did not offer a refund (about $300), they were not willing to send in our SSD to check on manufacturing defect or exercise the product warranty. They weren't offering solutions or helping us understand our options, and at this point, we are just out hundreds of dollars. The worst part is that the staff really didn't seem to care at all. It is clear to us that this must be a manufacturing issue, and we don't understand why they are not willing to help us replace the SSD or maintain us as customers. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars as patrons of this business, and it's a true shame to have write this. If The Computer Factory would like to make this right, I would be happy to have a conversation. Until then, I do not recommend spending your time and money here. read more

I am a retired engineer with plenty of computer-based design background, but I got tired of constantly trying to improve one of my window machines. I decided to let someone else look at it, so I went to the Computer Factory and upon their suggestion, they swapped out my hard drive for an SSD complete with Windows 11 on it. They worked fast and efficiently and I now have a great fast laptop. I would highly recommend these guys to upgrade or fix your computer system. Last weekend I couldn't log on to my computer. Don't you just hate surprises like that? I remembered a referral my friend gave me to Computer Factory. It's hard for me to switch on the computer side of my brain; it doesn't get used very much. Very fortunately for me, Derrick, who works with Paul and Nome and might generically be called "staff," was my savior. He is attentive and disseminates information in a very educational way. He gave me the pros and the cons of what he suggested. When I shared with him that I'm not that computer literate (though I worked on a computer for 18 years!), he did NOT recoil in horror or wander off. He simply translated more simply and made me a part of the solution instead of a nervous bystander. He was fiscally responsible with my money and helped me move outside the box a bit and I'm so appreciative. When I picked up my computer, he, as promised, sat down with me and went over a few directions. It was a wonderful experience and now my computer runs beautifully. I'm actually happy I had an issue! I should have just walked out as soon as I walked up to the counter; I saw the old guy grunt-sigh annoyingly as he realized he had to get up because he had a customer. This is the 4th computer we've bought here. The headphone jack didn't put out audio. I kinda had to convince them of this but Derek was very respectful and listened. He told me they tested it but to bring it in. He confirmed the issue, fixed it while I went to lunch and I picked it up. I also dropped off at that time a computer built there 5 years ago with a loud fan. Unfortunately I chose this place because I saw an advertisement in "The Paper". I took my tablet in for repair and they told me it wasn't worth fixing and offered me a used laptop with plenty of memory and Microsoft office already installed, so I traded in my tablet and got a used laptop from them, a month of use and the laptop stopped working so I called them and they said bring it in and they'd check it out,they charged me 108.00 for repairs, they said they had to erase everything and reinstall the OS or something like that, this computer never worked like they said it would, they said it was better and faster than a new one and it was very slow from the beginning. Waste of money. Now stopped working again and I'm not going to waste another dime on these guys. The shop is dirty and full of dusty old computer stuff in heaps and piles and generally disorganized and dark and sloppy. Not happy with customer service either. They don't stand by their products either. It sucks because I wasted $400.00 there and have nothing to show for it. I'm going elsewhere for my computer needs and so should you. read more

Same thoughts as others.They didn't call when the PC was ready,the place is a dump,waited behind 1 other customer for about 10 min.while Paul just sat at his desk not wanting to bother to get up and help me,the little technician boy spent all of about 5 min.blowing thru the changes and could tell I wasn't very computer savvy so he treated me like I was a lost cause,when I got home and couldn't find any old files so I called and got Paul who would not give me the time of day let along a couple of min.to just point me in the right direction,he said to bring it back in at $1.00 per min. with a 30 min. minimum.Yes it seems they did fix the original problem but don't be fooled by the free diagnosis,the follow up care will cost you plenty if computer stuff is not your strong suit. read more

I bought a desk top computer from here about 6 yrs ago. The first time we turned it on it had no volume. All the volume controls were on and the light bar that shows a graph of the 'noise' you should be hearing was moving up and down yet nothing. Turned it off, started it again and voila, sound out of the speakers. This would happen at least ever 3rd or 4th time I would turn it on. Sometimes while using it the volume would just go away. I thought it might be something I was doing or didn't do so I put up with it for about a year before I said enough. so I called them to see what they could do for me since they built it. FIRST thing out of his mouth on the phone was 'that couldn't happen'. I said yes it does and it is STILL happening. He then gave me a short lecture on how good their machines are. Anyway, he made me a believer that even if I did take it back or wouldn't be worth the bother. My belief is, they reuse old chips and parts from other trade ins so they don't know really what could be wrong. I have put up with it ever since but I finally got mad enough to Yelp this. HAD they said, 'Bring it in, let's take a look at it', I would have been happy. Instead, I got the 'Our stuff is the best, don't know what you're talking about' lecture. I should have known when I bought this that there might be a problem. I paid in cash. When I gave it to him he holds the money up and says to his wife, 'Honey, we can go to the casino tonite'. Our company, over the years, has spent THOUSANDS building/buying computers and equipment from them. We asked for a referral for an IT person. This guy they recommended is extremely old school. He's risking damaging our server hard drive (if it's not already). He has made mistakes that he won't fess up to. Even though he keeps providing as his "proof", the very document that clearly shows his mistake. Very pompous and prima donna type. Seems to forget that he was hired. Not the other way around. Anyway, this is not about him. Except that they recommended him. So, I called to ask a question about a hard drive we had bought from them. I explained that we were having an issue with the IT person. I was asked his name. I told them. They then tell me how wonderful the guy is. I explained that it is just something that has been blown out of proportion. I tried to get back to my question. He asks my company name. I tell him. He then says: "Well, we like (blank) so if you don't like him, we don't like you!" Then he hung up. Great way to do business. I think we all know where I'll suggest people NOT go. read more

I wouldn't buy from them ever again. Terrible Customer Service in the store and afterward. If you've a question when you get the PC home, don't call Computer Factory. All they do is sell hard drives in a tower with absolutely no help if you call with any questions. Once they get your money, they forget about you and the computer they sold you, meanwhile, they take your old one and make money recycling it. Paul's attitude is much to be desired. i took my computer in for a repair & the charge was $60.00. they never called me when it was ready.i finally checked in with them @ (oh, it has been ready for a while. ) any way, i brought it home & found out it was more screwed up than when i took it in. i took it back & they charged me an additional $90.00. i brought it back home, plugged it in & never have i seen a computer so screwed up as mine. i called them & ask for the credit of $90.00 out of the $150.00 i paid & they refused. so what i am saying is if you have computer problems stay clear of this place. they do not know what the are doing except taking in your money for extremely faulty repairs. please let all your friends know about this computer factory on san marcos blvd. & to be very wary.you will be wasting your money!!! read more

Have been buying PCs from Nome & Paul @ Computer Factory for several years. They are great to work with. They ask what you want to do with the computer and then build a system that meets your immediate needs but also has power & capacity for years to come. Their PCs come with anti-virus and anti-malware software that they've tested to be the best at the time. I recently downloaded an .exe file (on request of someone purporting to be a Yahoo Tech Rep whose phone number I found on a Yahoo Help community website). Afterwards the "Yahoo rep" asked for $199.99 to "remove virus from the PC". I refused and took the PC to Computer Factory. Computer Factory technician Julio found & removed many different malwares, although he had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Win 7. Julio saved me a lot of time (and grief) by reinstalling my documents, pictures, videos from my external hard drive backup. If you need a new (or repaired) PC, the Computer Factory is the place to be. read more
