Went there for the first time and the service and the food was all amazing. We really enjoyed the conch fritters and the fish dinner.

We were visiting family in Northern Florida and took a day trip to St. Augustine. We did a quick internet search and found the Conch House and decided to pay them a visit for dinner. We sat outside in one of their tree house looking gazebos overlooking the water. It was a beautiful evening with fantastic food and service from our server Amber. The shrimp and grits was excellent and the corn bread is some of the best I've ever had. Also highly recommend the calamari, conch fritters, and key lime pie for dessert. I already want to re-visit St. Augustine and a re-visit to the Conch House is a must. read more

Pretty good little restaurant in St Augustine. I was taken here while out with my boyfriends family and while it wasn't my first choice (solely because I am not big on seafood) it was pretty good. The food was good (overall consensus) and the service was good. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. My only problem is the lack of variety regarding the food choices. Typically I've found other seafood restaurants will have more chicken and beef options but they only had a handful of options. I ended up ordering chicken strips and while they were pretty good, I was hoping to see a burger on the menu. read more

I really enjoyed the outdoor seating environment and by chance you might get to set an a special booth! This booth is closer to the water and on a higher level which is great for scenery. I shared a dozen steamed oysters with a friend and at first we had no idea how to shuck them lol. Stunning views at this restaurant on the water. Right in the marina The Conch house has prime location. Parking is easy as there is plenty available. We kinda just stumbled on this place so we had to wait a little to get a table. But fear not there is a bar to wait at a little further down the marina! So we did. Wait was shorter than anticipated, and we got seated at a awesome table overlooking the water, just perfect. The menu is huge, already had drinks from the bar, just beer and bubbles. Obviously lots of seafood here, we got the conch fritters, steamed oysters and French fries to share. The conch fritters are not really my thing, but my friend loved them. The oysters, I usually prefer raw, but these were great steamed. Not over steamed. Enjoyed trying to open them, successfully sometimes , sometimes passing into my friend as I couldn't open it !! Their fries were awesome, super crunchy, seasoned, hot, perfect with all our other stuff. Our server was terrific, personable, friendly, full of suggestions. Arrived to meet friend for lunch. I was not allowed to be seated until he arrived. When I asked for table for 1, I was told I cannot have anyone join me or I would be removed. Isn't it sad for a restaurant to deny my business due to the crazy rule. I could have had a drink and appetizer while waiting. Plus being removed if I had someone join me??? What a lucky shot to have come across this spot in St Augustin Beach. We arrived early afternoon on a Weekday, place was not crowded and we were seated up in a high tiki table overlooking the bay by a friendly staffer. Tyler was our waiter and he made some great recommendations for appetizers, we enjoyed the alligator nuggets in a yummy dipping sauce. The conch soup was delish. We ordered the popular rum drink( forgot the name) but had rum 151, pineapple & coconut rum, very good. Then we ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich, soooo yummy! My husband and I came here and to Harry's while in St. Augustine and we loved this place much more. No wait, much less crowded, and better food. I had the grouper meal with rice and beans and it was so delicious. The fish was blackened and both perfectly seasoned and cooked and so good I wanted more. The rice and beans were a little bland, but the fish made up for it. My husband got the scallops and they were good. The sauce they were cooked in was a little sweeter than we liked but we wanted to try something different. My spicy margarita was very yummy. We were right by the water and it seemed like they may have live music some nights. Our waitress was very nice and so was another server that she was working with as they checked up on us often and didn't rush us out as we were there pretty close to closing time. I've tried this place several times but each time I go away thinking over priced and average food. Arrived and asked for hut seating. Although you can seat 2 in the huts it can hold upwards of 8. I was waiting on 5 more to arrive and they did not want to seat us while we waited. I decided to grab a beverage but I didn't want to go out the pier to get a drink. It was crowded and extremely loud with a band playing. So, although I wanted to be seated to purchase drinks and appetizers I was told I had to wait. But after the entire party arrived it was a total disappointment as the food was not good. Oh and although we should have watched, they automatically added 18% gratuity, which included 2 very young children, the server did not mention that gratuity was already added. So we almost gave the server 38%, because we added 20% on top of the 18%. But we did catch it. I've been to some great restaurants and the server always reminds the person paying. Not here!!!!! When you go to the conch house you can walk out in the pier, where their is a bar, tables and chairs, as well as live music. It's a fun place if you are just wanting to hang out and have a drink. Cocktails will run you about $10-$12 and beer is about $6-$8. There is no food service, but you can go to the actual conch house and get food to go and bring it back. The only problem is, if they are busy they won't do to go orders. I get that, but we were hungry and drinking so we ended up leaving. We were really enjoying ourselves, but needed to eat. We had our Valentines a few days early due to having to work. We didn't make a reservation, got there and were sat right away (it was chilly so everyone was inside but we wanted a hut) win for us. I forget our waitress name but she was wonderful! He really enjoyed the Mahi special and his Mi Thai drink & he LOVED the kie lime pie. The lobster Mac n cheese was really good though I feel like it could have had more lobster for sure. I don't ever remember visiting a restaurant quite like this, yeah it's unique to say the least with its individual dining pods strung out from the deck with most of them sitting over the water, so it's definitely got a cool factor of ten, but I'm here for cocktails and food and at this point any atmosphere will do. Of course there's a forty minute wait for a pod, but the interior seating has no wait and with the humidity above the ninety percent range the air conditioning sounds pretty inviting. We were fortunate to get a nice table window side and the hostess provided us with nice clean laminated menus to look over until our server arrived. I don't think I read the first offering when Joshua our server arrived with a giant smile and a very friendly vibe - not knowing the drinking laws we assumed there weren't any and all ordered a mule heavy on the St. Augustine Vodka and after quicker checking his watch his nodding meant he could now serve alcohol (note one to file sleep in on Sunday's they don't serve alcohol in this county until noon - note two to file forget note one and remember to bring your own alcohol to enjoy before lunch I mean breakfast). The Food: Fried Alligator - it's spicy and almost melt in your mouth tender, this is definitely a starter you'll want to try - if you've never experienced gator this may be a good time to try it on... Blackened Jerk Chicken Sandwich - yes chicken I live here I don't always need to order seafood or the fish of the day even though today the fish was wahoo - the chicken arrived blackened and spiced to perfection topped with pineapple salsa with a thick slice of ripened tomato and lettuce, I ordered mayo on the side - today it was served on a soggy potato bun ( hey it's okay I didn't need the carbs anyways but it's likely most would have been disappointed) putting the bun aside this sandwich was nice, very nice I highly recommend it. Shrimp Anastasia - Sautéed locally sourced shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes and prosciutto, white wine butter sauce served over pasta with shaved Parmesan. I think the ingredients speak for themselves not what I usually crave but the girls said it was spot on. St. Augustine Mule - Hand crafted St. Augustine, Florida Cane Vodka with Barritt's Ginger Beer and fresh squeezed lime juice with lots of ice and a few wedges of lime - a refreshing and hydrating beverage with a kick of a mule, drink plenty but be responsible I'm sure you know your limit. Going with 5 - food was perfect and Marshall provided great service. Had the special of the day fish Taco - great flavor, came out hot and the aioli sauce on it hit a perfect flavor. Love the corn salsa on it too. My wife's shrimp plate - well all the shrimp were gone! Seriously though, they butterfly the shrimp prior to frying, which is a nice touch and a light breading too. What a neat restaurant we have early November- but this is a must eat for the summer. It is right on the water and lots of outdoor areas. The food was good but the atmosphere so cool. If you are in Florida and you want a truly unique Florida experience, The Conch House should be your first stop! I discovered this place 25 years ago and instantly fell in love with it. How many places can you order conch fritters and gator tail? Both of which are absolutely wonderful by the way. This restaurant has been around for over 75 years. It's a staple of the St Augustine community. On Sundays they even have live music, weather permitting. Today is an absolutely horrid day weather wise, so, the restaurant itself is very slow. Lucky me. I ordered the conch fritters and these little fried delights come in a well balanced batter with nice little pieces of conch and a variety of spices and peppers. They are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Exactly how they are supposed to be. The fritters are served with a delicious key lime mustard dipping sauce that compliments the subtle flavors found in the fritters itself. The Local Gator bites are nice sized, tender and the batter they are fried in is fresh and cooked to order. They melt in your mouth and they come with a slightly spicy template that compliments the meat well. If you have kids, you could order these, tell them it's chicken and they would never know. Once they scarf them down you could then blow their minds by telling them they just ate a gator! The kitchen was out of crab today which is too bad since I was thinking about getting the crab cakes. I ended up ordering a bowl of the soup of the day which was a very nice seafood chowder. It has pieces of lobster, crab and shrimps in it. The base was creamy and smooth with a little bit of a Sherry background and fresh ground black pepper. It was sublime and did a great job of warming me up after a wet cold and windy day in St Augustine. The meal was topped off with a slice of their home made Key Lime Pie. It's clearly made in a square hotel pan instead of a traditional pie pan. So the piece of pie comes out Square instead of the traditional wedge shape. It has a really nice thick Graham Cracker crust with a rich creamy tart key lime center. It's served with a dollop of whipped cream, a sliver of Key lime and even a chilled fork. A very nice touch. The pie itself has a very rich flavor of Key lime and custard doing a wonderful dance in your mouth. It's not too sour, nor too sweet. It holds a perfect balance that leaves a full flavored experience. And yes, this is a real key lime pie with it's slightly green tinted yellow filling. I've had this pie all over the world and this one is as good as anything you'll compare it to! It's their own recipe, made in their own kitchens for 32 years! The rest of the menu has a number of signature dishes incorporating their very own Datil Pepper Sauce. The menu has a variety of interesting pairings which sets it apart from the usual national chain restaurants and I'm very impressed that they are taking chances with their food. It's very refreshing to see a chef not afraid of spreading his or her wings. The restaurant itself is a traditional nautical themed restaurant right on the Matanzas River but they have multi level dining which makes it interesting as well as a number of outside booths that look like little tropical cabanas. The restaurant has a very nice blend of music featuring Steely Dan, James Brown and other singer songwriters from the early 70's. It's a very relaxing environment with a great view! Wether you are dining with family, a date or even friends, this place has more than enough to make certain that your meal will be both different and mentionable at the same time! I look forward to coming back some day. But, honestly I'm kicking myself for not getting here sooner. This is, after all, one of my favorite places to get a really extraordinary meal! read more

Service on a Sunday night is really non-existent. Perhaps the Conch House should consider closing on Sunday evenings. The place was NOT busy, yet it took over 25 minutes for anyone to bus and clean our table so our party of 6 who met there at 6pm could be seated in a Tiki Hut. Stopped here for some eats and drinks while on a roadtrip here in St. Augustine. Winded up being a great time and possibly the best waiting service we've had thus far. This place is so popular it was over an hour to wait but with a cool boardwalk, ocean views, a bar over the water and a band playing we weren't going anywhere. They have really cool and different seating options for the restaurant. You can choose to sit inside in the Captains lounge, the out door deck, the Everglades dining patio, the topside bar, and some seats were outside in their own private tiki and all have great views. Seats were crowded by the bar area but no worries since they had more seating below on the dock that was covered and you still had the views and the music. After a couple of drinks we were text that our table was ready and Mackenzie was our waitress. We were a party of 5 and she took care of us like a true professional. We NEVER had to ask for anything not water, straws, refills, napkins, sauces, I mean she was on point and made our whole experience even better. She recommended some great dishes and we all stuffed our faces and needed to be rolled out like rolly pollys. We started with gator bites. I've never been a fan but these ones were the best ever! We also had the conch chowder, conch fritters, and the cracked conch....and these were just the appetizers ha ha. We could not resist this menu! I had the shrimp Anastasia and I'm telling you I would come back for this dish alone. It was so light for a pasta dish but it had some serious flavor that I just wanted more of it was that damn good! Bestie had the shrimp and grits and the proportion is big enough to share for 2 to 3 people tops. Bae and other bestie had the crab cake dinner and didnt share but I stole a fork full and last dish was a pecan crusted island catch fish, I thinknit was Corvina. Anyhow everything was fabulous and we ALL walked out with doggie bags. Really disliked the calamari. The breading was super thick and took away from the taste of the calamari. Just didn't eat it. The shrimp and grits was not worth the price. Great staff. Great view. Great food and drinks. We stopped here on the way back Downtown from the Lighthouse. I recommend eating outside in the tiki huts if you can - lovely view and breeze. We had fried food which was fantastic - lightly breaded, very flavorful and calamari you could cut with a fork. Afterward you didn't feel like a lead balloon was in your belly. We tried a few cocktails - Gombay Smash and a Spicy Pineapple Margarita. I loved that Margarita. If we had more time in St. Augustine or if I am back again I'd definitely grab another meal and cocktail here. read more

The outdoor seating and the tiki tables over the water are wonderful. We had the mahi both fried and blackened - came out excellent! When tide is high, the tables are over the water, you can feed the fish below. Past visits we had dolphins swimming in the area and the kids loved seeing them. My fam and I were in town for the weekend and they decided on the place for lunch. We were a pretty big group but they were able to accommodate us pretty quickly. This place is in a cute area. It over looked the water and had some cool watch area you could up in. Forgive me as I don't remember what everyone got but I ended up getting the conch burger with fries and the side of the table I was on got the nachos to share. Nachos were fire and the burger was your standard burger but it didn't disappoint. Service through out our meal was pretty good. They were attentive and super nice. We LOVED the Conch House!! We went around 4:30 pm on a Saturday evening and it was packed!! Plan to wait awhile for a table if it's a beautiful day! We wanted to sit in one of the huts that over look the water, so the wait we were told would be over an hour..but it ended up being exactly an hour. We didn't mind because they have a great bar at the end of their pier and they had live music. Once seated we were greeted by a great server who was very friendly and attentive to our needs. He had great suggestions for the menu. We ordered drinks and the shrimp and artichoke bake and it was delicious!! For dinner I had the shrimp tacos, my husband had the fresh catch.
