I really liked this on the water seafood spot! The conch fritters were tasty and the tacos were packed with flavor. The coconut rice was my fav part. My only gripe is that when I called to ask about the tiki bungalow tables, I was told that they were first come first serve. But the very next day when we arrive, we were told they were closed?? This restaurant was recommended by family, so we came to check it out. The tiki hut was lovely in the light breeze, and the service was very friendly. However, the calamari was so highly spiced, I couldn't eat it. I'm a huge fan of calamari and order it everywhere it's offered. It's not standard for it to be spicy. I understand that a lot of people prefer for everything they eat to be spicy, and if the Conch House wants to serve it that way, it's ok, but there should be a warning on the menu. Just call it spicy calamari. My husband had the "cracked conch." Cracked means it's tenderized with a hammer--this conch was hard and chewy because it wasn't cracked. Again, if you want to serve conch without tenderizing it, you can do that. But don't call it cracked conch, because it isn't. read more

Man, this place used to be off the hook back in the day with cars parked up and down the street; busy, busy, busy. They've been fairly quiet the last several many times we've been in over the years unless you wanted to wait to be seated in one of their cool unique Jamaican style grass huts over the water; you'll wait for that but it's fun. The ambience and service were both amazing and our meal was even better. We tried the appetizers conch fritters, gator bites and conch chowder- all were fantastic. For entrees we shared shrimp tacos and buttered rum scallops. If you go here you must try the buttered rum scallops. It was a perfect dish of savory and sweet with perfectly prepared cheesy grits and scallops. I'll forever dream about the flavors of this dish and am inclined to try to replicate it at home. The kids loved the pina colada smoothie. I wish we had saved room to try the key lime pie, but it was impossible after how stuffed we were. On a 7,000 mile 24 city food trip and researched this place for my st Augustine day. Was excited for both cinch and gator! When I said table for 1, they originally weren't going to seat me and have me wait but then said there was a table inside not near the water if that was ok. Totally fine, but after being seated I saw that dining area at 50 percent capacity at most. So from the start I don't think I got the full experience as I ate in an empty room with nobody else seated during my stay. Food wise... Bahamian conch fritters with key lime mustard aioli (the fritters were excellent but the key lime was too aggressive for my liking and I ended up using the ranch from my other item). Cajun fried Gator tail with minircan datil ranch (cooked very well and tasty ranch based pepper sauce). Side of Coconut rice was bland and forgettable but thought it was a nice $2 addition given that I ordered 2 apps. The plantains were very good as well. Server very friendly but the tone was set with the hostess. I also heard while eating seemingly the manager telling someone who was training that they made a mistake. This was my third or fourth time eating at the Conch, and it was stellar as always! Even with a massive crowd, the staff works hard to provide everyone with excellent service. I ordered the ahi tuna salad, and it was very yummy! I'd definitely order it again! I also ordered the conch island iced tea (their version of a long island), and it was amazing! Shrimp and hush puppies were very good. Service is average at best. You have to ask for drink refills, servers don't come to table very often and condiments are hard to get. When I ordered I asked for ketchup and tartar sauce. After food came I asked two more times for it. When we got ketchup the bottle was empty. When we got ketchup the bottle was empty. When we asked server for another when he walked by he said "it felt very light". If you know it feels empty why bring it. My wife asked for refill of drink, but I had food in my mouth. She got a refill and mine remained empty. I don't recommend Cole slaw. I can't take service off this review for some reason. read more

We have been regulars here for several years. The fried shrimp were traditionally Saint Augustine style and they were definitely Mayport. We ate there recently, and the breading was changed to a Panko like breading with little flavor and I'm not sure if they were Mayport. I hope they were. The burger also changed. It was way overcooked it used to be a nice patty, but now it's a double cheeseburger and very thin pieces of meat. The meal wasn't bad just not like what it used to be and not sure how we feel about going back. Looked up restaurants to try in St Augustine. I saw conch house come up and saw that it looked to be a classic! Right on the water in a marina and plenty of outside seating. Says it had been there for 75 years and the menu looked extensive. The service was friendly but a tad slow to the end. We were seated inside and had a great water view. It was a nice spot! Food was good, I wouldn't say it was great. Conch chowder was actually really good, as the was calamari. Entrees we're okay. Lobster Mac was nice and a good portion. I thought the fried shrimp really had no flavor and the sauce served with it wasn't great. I would love to see a coconut shrimp or something similar, I just wasn't a fan. I did love my soup though! I would give it another try if I come back maybe for lunch or have drinks at the dock bar. They do have a bar out in the marina which looks really cool, but we didn't get to go read more

Very nice evening dinner on the water at the Conch House. Love the private outdoor seating areas. Above the water and close enough to hear the live music at the bar. We had a great server who answered many questions. Made it well worth our choice of tequila for the margarita! We ordered shrimp and grits and a blackened ribeye. The blackened ribeye is a relatively new menu item for the Conch House and has become a very popular choice. The aesthetic of their outdoor seating area is very innovative and comfortable. Really could not do appetizers because they would be eaten by myself. All seafood appetizers. Ordered the salt run catch on the Market fresh. Turned out to be a big filet of mahi mahi. My Father wanted me to share his review. We have been going to the Conch House for over 15 years and the food and service have always been great, until recent. Last weekend we had lunch we friends and were shocked! The changes were devastating. The server said there was a new Chef who completely changed the menu. They always had the best shrimp & grits in town, but the new version is terrible! We were also disappointed that Grouper and Mahi were no longer available. It is sad to see a great restaurant ruined! I simply can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before now! Good Grief! This is one of our "go-to" places in St. Augustine. The restaurant is a little rough around the edges. Whenever we have family or friends visiting...we take them here! Why? Well...because I/we know we are going to get a good meal, good service and we like the view! When our local friends want to eat out...we often meet here. The fried gator tail is really good and is our favorite here, but I wish they would consider offering it blackened. I/we think any of the appetizers are good and often make them our meal! I really like the calamari, the fish dip, and the lobster bisque when they have it. I recommend the Jerk chicken and the plantains too...yum! I can always find something on the menu and I have eaten my way around the menu, however, it is limited. Yes, the menu lacks a bit of variety, so please take a look at the menu online before heading out. We've actually met folks here before that either didn't like or couldn't eat anything on the menu except dessert. They have a few land items, but it does lean towards the seafood side. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is seating over the water well, which is pretty cool. Sometimes you may have to wait depending on staffing and the day of the week. Moreover, they do not take reservations. If you have to wait, that is fine...just take a stroll down to the bar on the pier, enjoy the outside views, or take a walk upstairs to the lookout area. Parking is plentiful and they even have an overflow lot...and it's free! They offer a uniform discount with proof of ID (military, vet, police, etc.). Woot! Thank you for this! Note: This may sound silly, but the manager can be unfriendly and the rudeness can be off-putting. It caused a large group of us to depart one day after asking a simple question and they lost business. I have had interactions before and it kept me from going here for several months. The vibe of The Conch House is definitely it, especially if you sit out. There is a beautiful view of the water. There's also a bar in the middle of the water that you can walk up to and grab a few drinks. Make sure to go on the weekends where they have live music and you can enjoy it. For Appetizers, I ordered the Bell Pepper Calamari which was tender and plentiful. I personally do not care for bell peppers so honestly, I can't review them since I didn't have it. For Dinner, I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and I will say... one of the best I've ever had. I would absolutely come back, but next time... I'm bringing bug spray because I did leave a few bites. Let's start with the positives- the location overlooks the water and is expansive with alot of outdoor seating. Every staff member was friendly and our wait was short. We ordered conch fritters, jerk chicken and grilled fish with coconut rice. Unfortunately, the conch fritters had a weird recipe which featured carrots. Given that I am from South Florida with Bahamian roots, and have grown-up eating a lot of conch and Caribbean dishes, I was shocked that this recipe was so different than what I was accustomed to. They are large, however, it had more batter than conch and unfortunately, missed the mark for me in terms of flavor. Equally, the jerk chicken was also really odd too. My partner said it didn't even taste like jerk chicken and it was dry and bland. It wasn't authentic at all. My fish was fresh yet, also left a lot to be desired in terms of flavor. The best thing I consumed was the coffee and the ginger beer. I cant recommend the food but the view is ok if you are more concerned with that than good food. read more

Being with good friends makes every experience that much better, that's why I rate this first night dinner we had out in St. Augustine, FL as A-OK. I wasn't in charge, so when my friend that plans had picked this locally owned restaurant I was happy to support their very long history of having a restaurant, Marina, hotel etc. We were here for the restaurant atmosphere, drinks, and dinner. We choice to take a first available inside or outside table. We ended up with inside which wouldn't have been my choice as there is so much to see outside on the water including these cool booths in tree houses. Anyway we sat inside and froze as the AC was on blast. Our server Ella was as pleasant as could be. Unfortunately as for most restaurants, they're currently understaffed and Ella was overloaded with needy tables like ours and things took a really long time in between meeting her, placing orders, getting drinks, getting food, to-go boxes, getting checks, etc. According to the planner from our group the menu hadn't changed much since the last time she was there in 1986. Is it just me, or is that weird? I get it! Continue to do what you do well and the people will still come and enjoy. But on the other side of the coin, it would be super nice to see modernized options too. I did the calamari app, the lighthouse lemonade and the side of lobster Mac and cheese. It was all A-OK, but it didn't knock my socks off. I really enjoy being surprised and wowed and didn't get that vibe from here. We also got the Burger and fried shrimp plate they were also really good the waiters were really nice and fast at delivering the food they said it was going to be a 1 hour wait but it turned out to be a 15 min wait.
