Even areas I would have never thought of which is my favorite! When I'm in the San Diego area and I have time I stop off at this store. They are pricey but they have lots of things that you cant find at Target/Walmart. My only complaint is the customer service, they could try being friendly. I purchased an item that was a floor model and the rep said she would give me a discount for it being scuffed but when it didn't work, she didn't even tell me. Great store, if your trying to get organized there's nowhere better to shop. I had to dock a star because I was in the place for over an hour and not a single employee said a word to me until I reached the checkout counter. I see a lot of reviews bring up pricing as a negative but comparable products cost just as much at other stores and if your looking for cheaper storage solutions you'll have to settle for less desirable materials and build quality. Took one time to go into the store and be convinced that the elfa closet system is what I needed for my small closet. Only one complaint, "Pop Program". They say spend $100.00 and get $15.00 credit off the next month? That's great, but when I spent $1500.00 in the elfa sys. plus another $330.00 for installation. I only got $15.00 credit. Not what I call right! 4 stars are for the excellent people who help me in the store and the "elfa system". read more

I went to the Container Store with high hopes and signed up to meet with a closet designer. I waited 1.25 hours in the store. My patience was running out and I went to look for someone, anyone to update me with status. I thought leaving and getting a cup of coffee would be nice. I couldn't find a single person to help so I left. 1.5 hours of valuable time wasted. I'll be shopping elsewhere, hopefully someplace with customer service. read more

What I like about the Container Store is that it's a great example of how a business should be ran. Yeah, they specialize in selling containers in a country where there is a lot of competition and more convenient places to get such items. However, the selection is fantastic. Prices range from affordable to the absurd but the quality is great all around. The best part about this location though is the service. Above all, they are friendly, approachable and professional. It is one of the few places where each employee I made eye contact with at least generated some sort of acknowledgement, like a smile or wave. It is the biggest reason I suggest shopping here and don't mind paying extra. The only thing I would like to see more of are color options. This is a specialty store so multiple colors of what I'm looking for should be available, which they weren't. Overall, I really like The Container Store. If you need any sort of storage items for your household, I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

You can find just about every type of container at this store. I love their bathroom container collection as well as kitchen gadgets that truly make your space more functional. Their products are so functional that they can provide organization even to the smallest spaces. They have a variety of products for office spaces, travel, hobby junkies and just about anything your heart desires. Unfortunately as much as I can praise the products, I can say this store leaves much to be desired in customer service. I have been to this store numerous times and only once have I ever received attention from one employee. I regret not remembering the young lady's name but I have not seen her there recently. The staff appear very self involved with store tasks and not so involved with the customers. I made a special request to receive a call from the store mgr about 1 yr ago and I have yet to hear from her/him. read more

Merry CORPORATE GREED Christmas everybody! I stopped in to purchase a few specific size containers for fragile Christmas heirlooms needing protection from damage. I ended up with about $60 of various plastic bins. As I was checking out, an employee was unpacking office furnishings requiring assembly. The employee was putting the packing material into a trash bag. I told the employee the packing material would be perfect to cradle the heirlooms. She said it was against their policy to give me the packing material. I (politely) asked for a manager. I explained I had just purchased $60 of their designer plastic containers, but I would like to re-purpose the packing material for some of the heirlooms which were almost a century old. She said "I hear you" but they could not give me the packing material. (She tried to say they use if for displays) but she would be happy to sell me some packing material "at a discount" (Their similar designer packing material was selling for .59 cents a linear foot!) Wow... The CORPORATE GREED of the Container Store smacks down Customer Service at Christmas. Funny... I don't think their cardboard is any better than anyone else's, but their customer service CERTAINLY isn't! Bah Humbug. read more

Very useful stuff but they're terribly disorganized. I bought an Elfa closet system, installation was easy (once I got all the right parts a week later) and it's nearly as good as a professionally installed closet for much less. The sales person wrote the correct color on her notes, but the wrong color on the order, and quoted us the wrong price. The color we asked for was a lot more, but they only charged half the difference after we found their mistake (still at the store). The supports and connectors are all counted automatically by their design program, so I thought no way could they get it wrong, but critical parts were missing. On the phone they were quite nice and said they would send them overnight, no charge for shipping or the parts. Three days later, no parts. I called and got the same reaction again, and they had no record of whether they made the first shipment or not. Second one worked. Doing this again, I'd go to a different Container Store. Update: I did another Elfa closet from the same store, and they've changed the design so that the parts missing the first time are now built into the shelves. Maybe those Swedish engineers read my review. We had the same design consultant as the first time (what luck); we caught her on two mistakes, and I inspected everything before leaving the store this time. read more

place is probably the alternative to ikea or bed bath and beyond. seems a bit expensive for certain things. like a laptop light was $14. The good thing about it is that they have ALL of your organizing needs. Don't really know places that have that. Plus, plastic hangers are only 29cents a piece! STOCK UP! read more

This container store is packed with awesome products as well as its wonderful staff inside there. I am one of their regular shoppers now, I am no longer a stranger to the place. The asiles are tall and spacious, collections of BPA-free containers big or small were sourced from multiple origins and they are very unique from one another. I bought a couple of the Made in Japan KEEPER containers for my room and used for keeping my snacks and small things in one place, they were worth good buys. I love how they display cloths hangers, very neatly presented and not too densely packed together, the section has variety of hangers for all types of clothing, you could buy them individually or in bulk sizes. I usually go there during daytime because natural ray often shines through its ceiling-to-floor windows, very relaxing for shoppers like me, that's one reason why I love coming here more often now. I recommend shopping there weekdays for those who needed a less crowded shopping atmosphere. read more

She was very polite, friendly and very professional at the same time. I would recommend everyone to ask for Agneta in case you are looking for a designer for your closets. The shelving leaves a lot to be desired (particle-board constructed systems and overpriced, in my opinion, novelty shelving) but they have pretty much anything else you would expect for organizational purposes at various price points. read more

Although I love the store and the products, my last experience was not acceptable. I picked up items and at checkout I used my bank debit card, selected debit and input my pin. The cashier told me it said to use credit, so I asked him to cancel the transaction and I uses another credit card. So I paid for the items using a credit card and left the store. As soon as I got home I checked my bank account and also called my bank because I thought this was unusual. The transaction had cleared my bank account and withdrawn the funds (over $100) from my checking account. I also had a transaction against a different credit card. Basically - double billed. After two calls to the store, first being told oh! it will clear tomorrow you have not been double charged. At which I told the individual BofA said it has already withdrawn funds from the checking account. I also double checked that my credit card was billed - it was. I was told I would be called this morning, I wasn't. In calling back I heard - oh! it was a computer mistake it can happen to anyone! Their accounting department in Dallas would catch it next week, it happens frequently. So based on that if you buy anything at this store you better check your receipts, your bank accounts, credit cards etc as they think double billing is a normal occurrence. They will credit the double charge back to my checking account at BofA in 3-5 working days. This is not an acceptable practice!! read more

I met with a closet planner at the store and received a detailed plan of the closet installation that I purchased in early January. The in-store person was helpful. The problem occurred when the installers did their part. There was very bad communication between the store and the installers. The installers didn't know they were installing drawers and shoe holders - had to show them my picture of the plans that I received from the store. The installer didn't know that they first needed to remove two shelves in the closet before installing the new. I had communicated this very clearly with the store. The installers put the closet shelves and hangers too high. I asked them to move it down and they said they couldn't. After they left, I moved it down myself. This took me an hour and a lot of frustration. I had, after all, just paid $180.00 for the install. I purchased hooks that were to be on the right side of the closet and the installation of the shelves was supposed to be to the left of the closet so that the hooks would fit on the right side. The installer didn't have those instructions so centered the closet shelves and now the hooks are useless because they are so snug against the right wall. I called the woman at the store, Troy, who drew up the initial plans with me and asked me a zillion detailed questions. I explained the poor installation work. Troy acted concerned and surprised and said she'd get back to me. I never heard a word. That was on January 21st. I decided I should write this review. Maybe it will help prevent this bad experience from happening to someone else. read more
