I just love this store. I have organized 4 closets and 1 pantry with the elfa shelving. The designers are top notch and helped me design my space. 3 of the closets - I had the container store install- which cost a little but it was worth it. 1 closet and 1 pantry installed myself. It wasn't too bad. So happy with the products. Staff are friendly and always courteous and helpful. Not a lot of shoppers so I hope they don't close down. Best to buy when on sale! read more

Sadly I don't see this door surviving too much longer. Things are way overpriced and at least 85% of their stock qualifies as trendy and trinket-like. They really need to hire, the lines are very very long on the weekends! If you need help with Elfa or customized closets do yourself and make an appointment. The lady with the short blonde haircut is rude with zero patience. If you park in the garage and call for pick up, they don't answer. The sign reads don't get out your car, yet they don't come or answer the phone! Gosh what a nightmare to get organized. The 90min parking only has 2 spots, then drive up has 3 spots but again when you click I'm here on the app/email no one comes! Everyone must be reorganizing but I think ever since the Netflix show, The Home Edit (THE) came out, everyone is clamoring for the tools to have pretty bins! Sunday afternoon and we waited in line to enter the store. Probably a half an hour wait. (Nice music pipes in the area though.). Nice to have a limited number of customers as shopping was very nice. Unfortunately most of THE merchandise was sold out. Saw many online order bags awaiting pickup so that is the way to go. Prices at the store have always been high. But if you are looking for one stop shopping on functional, pretty organization tools this is the place to go. I only came to look at THE stock but came out with items that caught my eye (a Velcro holder with handle to wrap around my garden hose but I need to move it away from the faucet while my house is getting painted: a huge carbiner that I can put on a hook on my garage shelves to hang bags. Huge store, overpriced BUT if you are looking for something very specific and don't want to drive to 3 other places or search online, this is a good source. I needed a plastic organizer/tub for under my parent's sink. I wanted a dark color and dimensions were specific. Low and behold, they actually had something that worked perfectly. I ordered too many of a container that I planned on using but then realized that they would not work. This was after buying many, many items. When I went to return them, only options for returning an item were: Didn't receive; Item damaged; Item missing. You must upload a photo of damage. I thought about damaging each one because this was so maddening but that seemed wasteful. Now I'm stuck with $95.94 worth of containers. Ordered our master closets, were told we needed to pick up from the store when they were ready. We never received an email confirming that the closets were ready. I called and left a message, never received a call back. Called the next day and finally was told they were ready (a day later than originally promised). The installer comes today (super nice, definitely not his fault) but he doesn't have the design for the second closet. He asked if we had it and I have no idea where I would even find that. Overall, the communication was non existent and for the price, I'd expect a little bit better customer service. Edited to add : the measurements were off and we have to go back to the store to get additional pieces and they forgot to package the knobs with the order, which also need to be picked up as well. read more

So I absolutely love the container store! Wonderful product and always find what I'm looking for. I was there this evening looking for these hangers and went in looked at where the hangers should be and I could find them. So I asked the lady who was working and she looked up the SKU number and said she should have then if there not then we get then back in stock January 17. It said on there website they have 4 in stock. Then offered to help me find them. Didn't ask if I wanted help didn't even look like she care to help me. So I was a bit upset. Shameful customer service! We ordered 16 wood and sea grass drawers to fit an organizer and were informed that it would take two months for them to arrive. We're in a pandemic, so no problem. Just as we were rushing to prep for a 5-day trip, we received notice that the containers were in and had to be picked up by 4:30 or they would be returned to the warehouse. That seemed rather unfair, given that we waited months, but my husband took off from work and drove all the way from Oakland to Walnut Creek, ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT A MERE 4 CONTAINERS had arrived. Yes, the store insisted that he drive 13 MILES IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC to receive a quarter of our order! When I called to ask WTH, both the clerk and the supposed manager REFUSED TO DO A THING. They kept saying, "Well, we don't have the containers, so..." And I kept saying, "No one's complaining about that! But here's the thing: You could have called us and saved us a trip. You could have delivered the order to us. You could offer a refund or discount. You could even apologize." I work from home and have been a Container Store fanatic for years, but there are plenty of worthy businesses out there that understand the customer contract and make me want to support them during these hard times. read more

Two times in a row I ordered something online to be picked up. Upon arrival, I checked in with the woman at the front (Jollin), who told me she would call someone in the back, then no one appears until 15 minutes later (after I escalate things). This is in a virtually empty store with employees wandering around doing non-pressing things. Jollin even named the employee who was supposedly "working on it" but that employee was spotted near front of the store with no clue about the pickup. I don't know why Jollin didn't make sure to get a response from the person she was supposedly announcing the pick up order to. She seems extremely incompetent. The store is so poorly run, and seems to have no respect for their customers' time. Two stars only because the merchandise is good, if pricey. read more

I really like the Store. It is big. It has almost every type of storage system available. Sometimes too many to pick from. I get headache from too many choices. I think this store is generally about 20% more than what you can find elsewhere but the quality is really good. Nice to have this place is Walnut Creek. Also lots of little gadgets and fun stuff. There is only street parking if you want to know. I actually could spend hours here. The only minus to my rating is the prices. I would wait for the sales or coupons. They do have a rewards program but due to limitation of these stores, it was not worth me setting up my email for it and getting spam mail. I am not here enough. Placed an order for an earring organizer and website told me they had four or five in stock. went out of my way to downtown Walnut Creek, to pick up the order and waited for about 15 minutes until someone helped me. to which he said "we don't have the item" and told me to come back sometime this week or the next, when they have it. I went to get a custom craft room (Elfa) and I had an appointment. The person who helped me, Keri, was nice and knowledgeable. She helped me build my craft room in no time flat and she went and got the shelving I needed for my pantry. She was great and I highly recommend her. Finally got a chance to drop by earlier tonight and omg I was there for almost an hour browsing through all their items! They are located right below the parking garage and they even have a few designated parking spots on the 2nd floor. They also let you take the cart back to your car and you can just leave it there after. No need to bring it back. Anyway, I got myself some cool stuff for my new place. I got discounts cos some of the items have blemishes. I didn't even think of asking for a discount but the cashier told me he'll hook me up with 20% discount since he saw the blemishes on the acrylic organizers. So yeah, thanks for that! I love shopping here. Always clean and organized. Easy to find merchandise and friendly staff. Finding a parking spot might be a challenge but if you go upstairs you can find some designated spots where you can park for 90 min. I went with my step daughter and family to this store. Had bad customer service previously but decided to give it another try. Found a mirror for her. 75% off. Took 2 clerks about 15 minutes to figure out how to ring it up. But finally they got it. Very sad the clerks have not been trained on how to use the register. Get home. Open it. Broken. Parts missing. The complete lack of integrity of this company knowingly to charge $100 for a broken product that is complete trash is the epitome of sleaze and consumer fraud. My first initial experience here was great! All of the staff were very friendly. They literally went above and beyond to help me which I really appreciated. However this last visit was the exact opposite. Now the reason for the review. When I came in Luci was helping another customer and being really sweet to her. However as soon as I came to the counter she gave me a hard time. I told her I needed to return 4 of the item (one of the items broke) and the rest were still in there packing. I asked her a question about the coupon they'd offered me in my purchase which I didn't receive the last time I came. She immediately became very hostile. I was simply asking a question. I told her there was no need for the hostility. She then started to talk to me as if I was a child and asked me if I wanted to speak to a manager. Now I do! She then began to explain everything to him (with a much nicer tone). He said it would be fine and to give me the discount they offered in the beginning. When I expressed my concerns to him he kind of brushed it off and talked about the coupon which wasn't the issue it was her tone. Needed help but it took me about 8 minutes to flag down someone. I went through 3 staff members until I got what I needed. Kudos to Liv, the only person who was able to get everything that I needed. Went to the counter staff member, said I needed help just to ask if I can use my activated credit account even without a physical card and dismissed me; went to another staff member to ask the same thing but before I even asked the question, I was asked if I had an appointment, when she was entertaining other people's queries even without an appointment. She was only entertaining white people. Maybe she was the custom closet rep but she could've helped other customers while not busy or direct them to the right person.
