Heard about this place through Yelp ! Right across the street from Wolf's. Street parking available too. Due to the weather I had to switch gears and do a pick up instead of dining in. When I got there, I sent my husband in to pick up our chowder. He FaceTime me so I could see the bar area. Tastefully done. A large draft beer list, with a comfy lounge to enjoy your cocktails. As far as the chowder goes, it wasn't your traditional chowder that you would find along New England. Its quite different. Yes, it's thick & creamy, but they totally changed up the chowder profile by using dill and other seasoning. I tasted more of the spices instead of the seafood in the chowder. I know takeout is much different then sitting and getting served. So I'll definitely go back to try again. The service was excellent. Drinks were great. We all got different dishes and everyone enjoyed their choices at the time. However, one person spent the night on the toilet with food poisoning and another in our party felt ill as well, though not as sick as the first person. They drove in from different states meeting up that night for dinner and both only had that one night of digestive issues so we think that it was something at this restaurant. Classic Albany 10. My wife and I were so excited to try the Copper Crow. I walked towards the entrance and was immediately excited that I made a reservation, because the line was out the door. And then I realized why. They have a system where the host takes your name and then goes and checks on the table and then returns to seat you. The poor guy has to do twice the walking. Not sure if he's the owner, but he appeared sweaty and coughed into his shirt so my guess is the regular hostess was a no show and he was doing his best with a cold (that is going around), but definitely not the right person to meet and greet guests, but I'll give him a pass for those reasons so my rating has nothing to do with the system or the host. Space is a 5. While waiting for my table, I noticed the bartenders making drinks and it was no surprise that my drink was excellent. Our server. Also a 5. Good timing and great energy. Friendly. Then we ordered and the food arrived. Chowder, papusas, papaya salad, duck bahn mi, and the calamari. The chowder was unique and filled with clams. Herby and intense flavors were the star and not the flavor of the clams. Liked it, it not sure I could eat an entire bowl. Solid no doubt. The papusas were a little undercooked missing the crunch. But what it was really Missing was salt. I personally think butter and salt are terrific. Sauce was so delicious. That takes me to the calamari. Jumping out of order because the calamari was also missing salt and the dipping sauce was ok and plain, but dipped into the papusa sauce saved the dish. I wasn't paying attention and thought I was biting into calamari, but it was something mushy. There was just too much going on with the calamari. Too many people at that party IMHO. Just like the duck bahn mi. It's a very simple dish and this one was overly sophisticated. Bold perhaps. I called it a hot mess where there are too many big flavors competing against one another and missing the crunch of a classic bahn mi. The papaya salad was crisp and tangy and yes, I think it was in the bahn mi, but perhaps sitting too long in the sandwich so I didn't get the crunch? Portions. Very good. Prices. Excellent. Saw a review saying they were overdressed as business casual, but the restaurant is worthy of defining itself as business casual dress. I would encourage people to look nice going out. Nothing wrong in that and frankly, who cares what the table next to you is wearing. Enjoy the company you're with. Friends, spouses, dates, etc. Definitely a place I'd revisit and re-review because maybe I caught it on an off night. Properly saying fried dishes is worth at least a star! read more

Some of my co-workers brought me out to The Copper Crow for my birthday! It was a wonderful experience.We made reservations on OpenTable, and were sat promptly upon arrival. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about both the food and beverage menu. She made great recommendations to the group, and clearly knew the menu through and through. My friends got the Wandering Cowboy, which they both enjoyed, I tried some a bite of steak, along with some of the red curry gratin it was very delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the Angry Pork Schnitzel and was overjoyed with how moist the pork was, something that is very hard to do with a thin bone in pork chop. It was a very well composed dish with the classic spaetzle and braised cabbage. It was elevated with the hot pepper relish and mustard cream sauce. I almost didn't want to share any. Our server checked in with us after the first few bites to make sure everything was tasting great and the right temperature. The manager also stopped by during the meal to check in. We all tried some of their desserts, and they were great! The key lime pie, and fried oreos were the star of the show. In summary it was an amazing visit to The Copper Crow and I look forward to going back. read more

I went here for a work dinner that we had set up family style so I didn't order individual items off the menu myself but all the things we tried that had been ordered for us by the person who coordinated the dinner were delicious! There was a really good fish croquette and a really good grilled chicken dish that we had. I don't know the name of it on their menu but it was so good! read more

Food and drinks were fine, service left us wanting. They tried seating two different couples right next to us in an otherwise empty restaurant, then tried doing it again after we had said it bothered us once and we thought that was kind of rude. I took part in the yelp chowder fest. I ordered from take out and picked up at approximately six or 630. The place was very nice inside given the location. The bartender that handled the transaction was very well dressed and presentable, as well as friendly. I ordered the chowder and also the roasted root salad. The cost of the chowder at $10 a bowel, although free for this yelper, seemed a little bit expensive given the size. The same for the roasted root salad at $14. Upon home, I couldn't wait to dive into the chowder. To my surprise the Newport chowder appeared to be concoction of cream and flour. It was devoid of any seafood flavor or flavor at all and the shrimp and potatoes and I think scallop were all crunchy as if not cooked through enough. Needless to say I was quite disappointed. I thought my taste bad buds went out on me until I dove into the roasted root salad i ordered on a whim. The salad was very good, letting me know that my taste buds were not gone. It was a very flavorful concoction of many root vegetables, beets, carrots, Greens, parsnips and BlackGarlic shallot vinaigrette. The salad to my surprise was a saving grace to the whole experience and was delicious. read more

I really enjoyed my meal at Copper Crow. I ordered the chicken, and the people I was eating with ordered the corn pasta and the ribs. Everything was delicious, and the serving portions were really generous. We have been here a number of times before attending events at the Palace and had good service. We went last night and the service was down right rude. We had reservations and were seated fairly quickly. After waiting 25 minutes, I had to go up front and ask for a server to come to our table. We had tickets to a show, but had allowed plenty of time under normal circumstances. It took so long to get our food that we had to ask for our bill before our food arrived. Out server never came to ask how we were doing. The food was good, but not enjoyable when stressed to get to an event. We had to get up and ask for a to go container and we're meant to feel like were annoying. We won't be back read more

After looking at the menu online we were looking forward to trying the Copper Crow. We went for a late lunch around 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and our server came out and greeted us right away, we started with the falafel salad and as an admirer of falafel, I found this falafel to have a funny tasting spice in it that didn't make me like it very much. But the grilled cauliflower and the dressing on the salad was very good the texture of the falafel was very good, not burnt or overcook or as hard as a hockey puck. we continued with our entrées, mine being the orange, miso, salmon and my dining partner had the short ribs with kimchi. The orange salmon, potatoes and asparagus were very good. However, the salmon was not cooked well enough towards the thicker center part so I decided to take it home for a late night snack. the short ribs were very good, very flavorful however, the temperature was not very warm so either the dish sat out for a while before bringing it to us or they did not heat them up well enough before serving them. The kimchi was super spicy and after a couple bites, Neither one of us could try anymore . The ribs were served with a piece of cornbread. We finished our meal with a blueberry shortbread cheesecake that was outstanding. Not your typical cheesecake. It was very good mascarpone cheese and fresh blueberries compote on top. they had an interesting menu and I have to say there was more than one item I would've liked to try so I'm sure we will be back. We enjoyed sitting outside downtown and it was quiet which I was a little surprised but overall, I would say they were very good with just a couple of bumps in the road. Went for my Birthday in August. I had the Korean BBQ. They were ok, but didn't taste as fresh from made to order. Kimchi Collard Greens and the Gochujong Dirty Rice were very good. My wife had the Venezuelan Asada Negro. The beef was tough for being slow braised, and not seasoned very well. The pupusas were her favorite part of the dish. read more

It was just ok-ish. Calamari was fried pretty perfect, Poblano app was tasteless even with the Verde. Steamed pork buns were good. Entrées were nothing to write home about.
