Everything about our experience was top notch. It was our anniversary and we were congratulated by the host, by our waiter and the chef left a card on the table. The drink selection was great, appetizers were very good. I had the ribeye and it was incredible. Perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. My wife had the scallops which she loved. I was in North Georgia visiting family and friends and for our last night in town we went to the Copper Door to eat, have some drinks, and socialize with friends. What a great way to end our visit. Walking in we were greeted by the chef/owner Dennis, as well as several others of the staff. Extremely friendly atmosphere, and now I know what southern hospitality is about. You would never have guessed that the building was an old gas station. Our waitress Amber was great and was able to answer any and all questions about the menu. Let's start with the bread/rolls. These would rate as the highlight of most meals I've had, but this night they were an indication of what was to come. They were more Yorkshire Pudding than rolls. The basket sat on the table for a minute or two while we carried on with our conversation before the aroma forced me to dig in. Light, airy, and golden brown, I've never tasted anything like it before. Accompanied with butter compounded with honey and horseradish, we had to order more. Appetizers were Georgia shrimp sauteed in butter, garlic, herbs, and red pepper flakes. Simple, but perfectly executed and never taking away from the perfectly cooked, extremely sweet shrimp. A bowl of mussels in a nice broth of leeks, shallots, diced tomatoes and Pernod. I couldn't resist using the Yorkshire Puddings to scoop up the remaining broth. While my two other diners had perfectly prepared beef, filet and rib-eye, I went with the veal chop. I arrived on my plate with roasted red potatoes and a nice squash and asparagus saute. The chop was nicely frenched and served with a demi-glase. Perfectly cooked to medium/medium-rare, I finished the entire chop before I realized I didn't offer a taste to my other dining companions. If you are ever anywhere near this part of N. GA or Southern NC, do yourself a favor and take to time for an excellent dining experience. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant hidden in the charming city of Hayesville NC. With fine dining limited in our area, The Copper Door is a real treat. For special occasions this is our go to choice. And, we have a business, The Luffa Ranch, and need a place to take clients. This is the most wonderful restaurant. We can talk and enjoy wonderful food. We love the prime rib and seafood selections. This place is amazing! Walked in a little skeptical and I'm not really sure why. I guess it was hard to believe all the great reviews. It's a nice place. Very cozy feel. The waiter was very informative. I knew I wanted to try the mushroom soup and grilled caesar and my husband knew he wanted the ribeye. Everything came out looking amazing. My husband always uses steak sauce and asked for some. The waiter looked shocked and asked him to try it first without it. He was right. No sauce was needed. It was amazing. My husband has eaten steaks all over the world and he said this is by far the best steak he's ever had. Even chewed on the bone! What a wonderful place tucked in this tiny town. Visiting a client in Hayesville I decided to try the Copper Door. Another visitor from out of town and I made reservations for an early dinner. It was an outstanding experience. They have a large menu with a wonderful variety for appetizers and entrees. I enjoyed a crisp wedge salad and absolutely perfectly prepared prime rib. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service in all the years we have been eating there, The steaks are outstanding, the seafood is always cooked just right and the deserts are exquisite. The Copper Door is just head and heels over any other restaurant within an hours drive, consistently excellent. Although a 45 minute drive each way for us, we always go at least every 2-3 months because is worth the drive. Upscale atmosphere, versatile offerings, solid service, and usually a tempting special or two. We have taken guests there many times and every single one of them goes back on their own, or takes their own guests there. You cannot go wrong with this choice when looking for that special meal. I won't go through the menu because there are many choices so every diner will find something that appeals to them, but I will say the bone-in rib eye steak stands out for me. I rarely order steak out unless I am at a really great steakhouse like Bones, Hal's, Del Frisco's, or Ruth Chis. I am not saying it is in that league, but it is also not priced that high either. It is very tasty, and always cooked perfectly. I mention it because many would not think of getting a steak here, but it is worth considering if you like red meat. Within an hour's drive of our mountain home, this is the Gold Star winner, and it isn't close. read more

Such a nice surprise in the mountains in Hayesville North Carolina. From the moment we walked in the service was extraordinary. Actually arrived an hour early for a reservation due to her our unfamiliarity with the area. They were able to get us in and set at the perfect table for my wife and me to enjoy our anniversary celebration complete with congrat table card and nothing but smiles. Good but not great. Very pricey for what you get. We got the crab cake appetizer. It was full of crab meat, but a small portion for the $12 price. I had the chipotle chicken and it was tasty. Rolls were weird and pastry-like (but not in a good way). Sides were good..I had mashed potatoes and asparagus with carrots. My Husband had NY strip steak. It didn't have much flavor. The Copper Door was recommended to me by an acquaintance, he said it was well worth the 2 hr drive from Atlanta so I decided to check it out. The service was outstanding, our waiter was very thorough and knowledgeable. We had a crab cake and beat salad as an appetizer, both were amazing. I had the filet, which I ordered the medium-rare, but it was rare, not a big deal, it was an outstanding cut, very tender, it was delicious. My wife had the scallops, which were very good as well. Without question, this is by far our favorite restaurant in the surrounding area, which is near our 2nd home in Blairsville. The house filet is unparalleled, plus the wild mushroom soup is a Must appetizer! Entire staff is so courteous and attentive, and owner Dennis continues to do a remarkable job with the menu and overall quality in every aspect. Being a wine buff, I especially like the very reasonable corkage fee that is in place, so that I can always bring a nice bottle from home to enjoy with our meal. I have eaten here twice in the last two months and have no complaints! The first time I had the beef filet and it was cooked to perfection! The second time I got the Costa Rican swordfish and it was delicious. You will not be disappointed with the food. Our first time back to our favorite dinner spot in Hayesville since March. We still love the best bartender in NC, the filet and the wine. However we were truly shocked at the new prix fixe menu. We've always loved ordering the beet salad, crab cake, mushroom bisque and a steak. But now we must order 4 mandatory courses at $65 per person?! They've got everyone working there in black vests and ties BUT the customers are allowed to wear gym shorts and baseball caps?!!! Really Chef-make up your mind. Are you a high end, top of the line restaurant? Then have a dress code. Have some standards. They still need (after years of suggestions) to work on decent ambiance-lower the lights, add some flower vases and better candles, some nice jazz we can hear. If you're going to be high end at $65 per person, then make the experience complete. And for goodness sake tell the running shorts to go home and change. read more

We frequent this restaurant often and bring out of town guests as well as local residents. The food has been outstanding lately. Our latest meal consisted of the the carrot ginger soup, the salmon appetizer, grilled romaine salad and the tenderloin. The popovers were perfect and not too brown. Our only complaint was the romaine could have been grilled a little longer. The wine options by the bottle are very nice and our tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Keep it up!! Went to the Copperdoor for the first time recently. The ambience in the room had an intimate feel. It is dark inside, but I felt it was right for the place. We started with the crabcake cake. The sauces with it were fantastic. Probably one of the best crabcakes I've ever had. The house and caeser salads were fine. My entree was crawfish tortellini. It was awesome. Pasta was perfectly cooked. The sauce very delicious and the crawfish amazing. My partner had the surf n turf. Filet mignon with scallops. Great tasting steak.
