I am stoked by this restaurant. Nick's kitchen produces exquisite plates in a beautiful environment. Our hostess and server was Emily who could not have been more attentive or helpful. Shrimp and Grits? Three times, even better than some coastal restaurants. Grilled Salmon? A big 10 for the table. Deserts good, Bread Pudding (in GA?) large and spot on. I could go on. Oh, good wine list and bar. This location has been several things over the past 40 years and I have experienced most of them. We stopped considering it due to the instability/inconsistencies. This time, everything is grade A and has been consistently excellent on six different occasions over two years. Food quality and prep is now superb. Dinners are special and I am not sure it is the same kitchen of crew for lunches. The restaurant is housed in The Ridges which has a hotel that requires 3 meals per day. We travel the Southeast regularly and get to try Hotels and Restaurants along the way. Coming from the New Orleans and Tampa areas, we usually have high expectations for a restaurant. read more

Amazing dinner! We arrived at 5 on a Tuesday because we were staying at the resort. We enjoyed a lazy 2 hour beautiful dinner! It was happy hour, so we enjoyed HH Old Fashions before dinner. For starters, the chef sent out a wonderful spinach artichoke pastry app. We shared a Farmhouse Salad, and changed out the goat cheese to Blue cheese. For dinner, our server suggested Halibut and Short Ribs, so that is what we ordered. There was no rush and we enjoyed some wonderful tasting food!. Our service was perfect. We had a wonderful breakfast with Dawn a few weeks ago. I loved the tastefully landscaped and decorated environment, and of course, the Lake Chatuge view. It was mid-week and off-season, and Dawn served as hostess, server, and chef to create an enjoyable experience. Great service, nice ambiance and delicious food. Stayed at The Ridges on November 4th, 2025 and walked over to the Oaks Lakeside for a bite. We ordered a Caesar salad with Chicken, a Wedge salad with Salmon and a side of grilled asparagus. Everything was fantastic, the low light mood was a really nice vibe, and Danielle was an excellent server. She was very attentive and timely. We will definitely dine here on our next visit. Staying in Hiawassee for work and tried out the Oaks Lakeside kitchen. First of all the restaurant is beautiful. The atmosphere is great. Second of all the food is amazing. Pork belly bites were perfect. I don't understand how a place in the mountains of Georgia can have the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. The service was also outstanding. This is a great little gem in the mountains of northern Georgia. Highly recommend. The only negative thing I can say is my table top was a little wobbly. read more

Went today to the Jazz Brunch. Restaurant was busy because they have a great Brunch and advertised a Jazz group playing. I envisioned not being able to have a conversation but the singer was going around to make sure volume allowed easy conversation. She offered to gladly turn it down as needed to give the proper upscale ambience. The manager was busting it as well as the servers to get the tables cleaned as fast as possible as every seat was taken. Folks lingered longer due to the music and ability to converse. First time at this restaurant and it was a terrible experience. We arrived during their advertised happy hour and asked what the happy hour specials were. They seemed so confused and didn't think they had happy hour. I mentioned it was on the website. We heard the staff having a discussion and they came back to tell us about a couple of drink specials. I ordered the old fashioned. It tasted so strongly like rubbing alcohol, I couldn't drink it. My husband ordered the chicken special, and I ordered the redfish. Both dishes came swimming in liquid, so they were soggy to say the least. As my husband was eating his chicken, he noticed it was extremely bloody. He immediately stopped eating it and mentioned to the waitress how undercooked it was. She took it away without a word. A manager came over to the table in a bit and said, "You had a question about the chicken?" Ummm no question, it was dangerously undercooked. He said it was cooked with a sous vide method and that causes bloody veins to be visible. This chicken was bloody through and through, not just some veins. Suffice it to say, they took it off our bill, but it was such a bad experience. I would not recommend or go back. read more

We went for thanksgiving meal 3 years ago. I have been a local since the 70's as we had a family business in Blairsville. First off we had a reservation but we waited lengthy while others reservations came right in and were seated immediately one of which was sat in the window seat that we specifically stated we wanted on our reservation. On top of that while standing in line waiting to be served the lady behind the counter (our server) kept eating green beans on her plate stashed behind the counter as she served us saying "I'm hangry" which left no green beans for the paying customers. Not to mention it was Covid era. After reporting it to the manager in which he said he would adjust our ticket it never happened. We will never go back. read more

The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen recently started a program they have named the "Supper Club". Each Sunday and Monday they offer a custom take out menu for pick up on Wednesday afternoons around 4:00 pm. I have now tried this service two times and think it is an awesome way to experience fine dining in a take-out format. So far I have tried the wild salmon cakes with tomato bisque and wild game meatloaf with mashed potatoes and home made gravy along with a large slice of delicious bread pudding. Both of these dinners were excellent and presented in containers and instructions requiring minimum home prep. We much prefer take out to in house dining and this menu provides excellently prepared food at a very reasonable price. We love this new program and think it is a great way to bring fine dining into your home. so take a day off from the kitchen and give the Supper Club a try. I think you will love it. By the way the wild game meatloaf may be the best meatloaf I have ever eaten. highly recommended. read more

Very relaxing dinner on a special occasion for my wife and I. We each had a glass of the house rose, split a wedge salad and had fish over forbidden rice (she had the Salmon, and I had the Redfish, which we shared). Each dish was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The Manager came by and greated as well. Very relaxing atmosphere, and the bar had a piano player who made the evening that much more enjoyable. We also split the brownie sundae desert which was exceptional. The place is not inexpensive, but we were very pleased with our evening.
