Great place. Love the decor and the waitstaff is super attentive and kind. The food.. oh boy!! Wow!!!!! Loved everything we had! Our waitress was Sam. She was the sweetest person. The bartender went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our mixed drink as well. I loved how they put up a big thick cloth barrier so you wouldn't feel the draft when you walk through the front door and into the dining area. This place deserves more than 5 stars. I found The Copper Fox on Yelp and it looked great, as did the reviews. Those positive reviews were spot-on. I booked a reservation as they require. The interior is very well done, tasteful and eclectic without being crowded. I sat at the bar and the service was very good, attentive but not overly intrusive. Both the soup of the day and the chopped salad were phenomenal. You can truly taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients here. The kitchen isn't cutting corners. Super cute restaurant in Springfield if you're passing through like I was and needed to stop and charge my car. The sweetest waitress and staff that could not have been more accommodating with a two year old in tow. As for the food, I got an avocado toast which was more like a salad on a piece of toast than an avocado toast. Still super yummy but not was I was expecting. The avocado is cut up on the toast vs being smashed and spread across. Potato wedges were hot and salty, no complaints there and my daughter loved her OJ. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Might get a little loud for dinner service with all the hard surfaces but just fine for lunch. I ordered the roast beef sandwich... perfect flavor balance, nice rare beef, and even the potatoes and salad hit the right notes. My aunts ordered a mushroom Reuben... which is not on the menu but the chef obliged and it was also delicious. The only thing off-putting but not enough to knock a star was the ketchup was made from onions and not tomatoes... tasted a little odd. They do have Heinz but you have to request it. Dessert was a chocolate pecan bar with coffee ice cream. The aunts got ice cream and tiramisu. The pecan bar was just right... soft and gooey but very flavorful. It's a local favorite so had to try them. Very good. For main entree I got the flank steak. Really delicious as well. They have a nice bar area and some murals on the walls. Hubby and I went for our anniversary. Our waiter was very attentive, had great suggestions for us and was an overall delight. We had the charcuterie board, a few delicious cocktails and dinner. Truly the best restaurant in Springfield, I love the Copper Fox. The first time I went with my wife, we figured it would be good, but never imagined this! It's not even about the quality of the food, which is great. But when the waitress greeted us and started saying the specials, I said something like "oh we're vegan, so we'll get something else" because the special was a meat dish. I don't even think I said it to anyone in particular, but the waitress responded "oh you're vegan! We can do something special for you!" And I've never done this before in my life, but my wife and I said "ok, we'll have that!" without a clue what it was gonna be... and it was great! Again, it wasn't even about the food. I just felt at home there, and anytime we're going out for a date, the Copper Fox is going to be a top choice. Springfield has a lot of heart, it just needs a chance sometimes. We've eaten here 4 times in the last 5 months. The food is consistently very good. Lovely cocktails. I would happily recommend the Copper Fox on food alone with a solid four stars for food. However: The service at our most recent visit was extraordinarily slow. Unacceptably slow. It was more than three hours from ordering cocktails to paying the bill at the end of the meal. I did appreciate the server acknowledging that some thing was amiss with the timing. Although he never said what it was- he just kept thanking us for being patient. Also - the restaurant has horrible acoustics. We struggled to hear each other at a four top and our ears were ringing when we left. A simple addition of acoustic tiles to the ceiling would solve this problem and make it a far more comfortable dining experience. This is a nice restaurant, almost great. They need to keep trying, and not rest on their laurels as the new (ish) cool spot... read more

Our cousins just hosted a meal at The Copper Fox following the funeral service of their brother, our cousin. Apparently, The Copper Fox was one of his favorite haunts. For good reason. It is a warm, charming, comfortable, local haven. And the food was unexpectedly superb. Whoever is working the flavor magic in that kitchen is a master of their craft. We were served a rich, beautiful, complex salad of fresh greens, seasonal vegetables, torn cheese, and a light, flavorful dressing. I didn't have the meat, but the roasted, seed-crusted salmon was moist and well-seasoned. The sweet potato, carrot, root veg hash was very tasty, not overly sweet as one might expect from the ingredients. But--the true piece de resistance was the warm potato salad. I heard more than a few others declare it the best they'd ever had. I don't disagree. I couldn't figure the flavors, not mustard, not curry, not mayo, olive oil? Maybe a little of all. I couldn't grab it. Outstanding. I didn't even mention the local beer and wine selections, the kind, efficient waitstaff, the real paintings on the walls, the metal-covered tables, and the copper-covered bar. Nice place. Beautiful place, good food, and very friendly service. Horribly long wait. My party of 2 arrived for a 7pm reservation and we weren't even seated at a table until an hour later at 8pm. It took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive: a burger and a salad. At this point people that were seated after us had already eaten and left. While we were waiting we looked over the lower star reviews and saw exactly what we were experiencing. If you are going to believe any review, please believe this one: eat before you come, you will be waiting. Most of the other guests were also discouraged. The place isn't that big, and there is more than enough wait staff. I genuinely have no clue how we ended up spending 3 hours there. I guess it is more the type of place people come to chill out for the night and have drinks with friends- which sucks because the food was good! We dropped in on a Saturday evening. Our reservation was at 7:30 and our table, about the last to be filled, was ready, the band was playing and the place was rock in'! We ordered drinks from the well stocked bar and soon ordered appetizers ("dirty potatoes" that were just excellent!) and a burger to split. The food was top notch as were the drinks and entertainment. The service however, was slow. It took an hour for the appetizers to arrive. We took our burger to go 30 minutes later as our 2-year-old grandson was ready for bed. I suspect that, like a lot of small businesses these days, it's a struggle to hire competent employees and with unemployment at historic lows, help has been hard to find. The slow service though didn't seem to be a problem for others in the full house as the music and libations made for a fun time! read more

Very overpriced. Poor service, seriously watered down drinks poorly prepared food and a wait staff with an attitude. This restaurant is in the same location as 56 Main. That is all that it has in common with that restaurant. The very young chef formally worked at the Hartness House Inn. He and his wife are the owners however I suspect there may have been other investors. The food was marginal. No bread basket. Extremely high prices. Poorly made drinks. I highly recommend not wasting your afternoon or evening at this establishment. read more
