    Apple walnut salad add chicken

Shoulda checked yelp before I went. I posted a review on google but sharing it here for the real foodies. Original review posted February 2025. "The food was good. Chicken parm was a little dry and a little too much breading for my liking. Broccoli cheddar soup (soup of the day) was excellent. The girl who was running the takeout stand lost a star. When I asked for utensils she shrugged and said they don't have any... She told me if I wanted utensils I can go buy them at the dollar store across the street. I didn't get her name but she has a terrible attitude. Edit 3/6/25: Second negative experience with same hostess, Autumn. I'll spare you the details. Buffalo wings were very dry and a 2 or 3 out of 10 spicy, average at best. Grilled chicken was also dry."

    1. I have dined here for a regular dinner: 07/23/22 2. We used the upstairs space for my wedding rehearsal dinner: 09/23/22 3. We had The Sumner House cater my wedding: 09/24/22 Let me tell you that Ryan is GREAT & so is his staff. I got engaged in May of 2021 & started my search for a caterer. The venue I chose suggested using The Sumner House. Immediately, Ryan replied to my inquiry & so began the hundreds of emails & phone calls to quote the wedding catering & rehearsal dinner. Their menu & options are MORE than fair. I had received other quotes that were triple, if not quadruple what his quote was for up to 100 wedding guests. The food is AMAZING. I highly suggest the steak tips. The mashed potatoes are buttery & awesome. They offer fresh seasonal vegetables. You also get your choice of (2) desserts with the entrees. The apple crisp & assorted cookies were a big hit after dinner & through the night as the wedding & dancing went on. We had the prime rib, stuffed pork & chicken lasagna for the rehearsal dinner. OHHH MY GOODNESSSS it was ALL SO GREAT! Their cheesecake & chocolate ganache cake for desserts are incredible. My father loved the chocolate ganache cake so much that he had 2 pieces & had to refrain from a 3rd. The bar gets very busy with the locals, especially on Friday & Saturday nights. In the summer they do offer outdoor seating. The building is near or about 200 years old, I believe.

Ample parking. Quick service. Stopped here on our way home and although it was 5 minutes off our way, it was worth it. We ate well. It's an old house but really well maintained. It felt like we were in someone's house. Everything was clean. Victoria took great care of us. Thank you!

Great place to have dinner after all day skiing. Delicious food, friendly people, thematic interior with opportunity to learn about local history.

Great, cute place. Nice menu. Friendly staff.. takes credit cards. Site is kind of historic with the placemats explaining the history of the Justice who founded this restaurant. Great job! Thanks!

Great sandwich! I…read morestopped by Reel Deal Deli in Charlestown for lunch takeout recently. This cozy sandwich shop serves up a variety of made to order breakfast sandwiches/burritos and lunch sandwiches, cold drinks in the cooler and root veggie crisps. The bagels, muffins, breads and wraps used here are homemade as are the sauces too. When possible, the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. The prices here are fair. There are a few tables inside the shop and a few tables outside on the wooden patio. I ordered the Hot Reel Deal Beef ($12 plus tax/$13.08) which was made to order in the open kitchen behind the counter. The sandwich I ordered was very good, which had thin sliced grilled roast beef, caramelized onions, melted cheddar, bacon, and spiced mustard on soft homemade focaccia bread, a really nice touch to make a great tasting sandwich.

Well it sounded good but when we got it it was cold, the meat was hardly there, and it was shredded meat like scraps. It was disgusting and the focaccia bread which is homemade was OK but it fell apart. I have proceeded to message them on Facebook to let them know how I felt about our experience and they read it and never responded. It's a good thing they're selling because they need to put somebody in there who really cares about the product they put out

That said, the coffee, food, and service are worth it! There are two seating rooms and one of them opens out to restrooms and a very small shopping/business mall. The tables and chairs are thick, heavy, rustic wood reminiscent of a country kitchen, and the acoustics are pretty good! No echoes or a need to yell to friends or family at your own table. The service is stellar! Lots of students work here and they are top notch. The food is outstanding. Their hash browns are literally the best I have ever had. They are wispy and crispy, and will not leave grease on your plate or in your belly. The eggs are always perfect, no matter how you ask for them, and the pancakes are the best you can get without making them yourself at home. They are served with a syrup, but for $2.00 extra (at the time of this posting), you can get real maple syrup instead. By the way, their coffee is not limited to regular and decaf. There is a delightful coffee drinks menu for options to enjoy at your table or to go! Tucker's also does take out, so you really have not excuse to miss this delightful place.

What you'd hope for in an updated rustic old Vermont building. 2. The service has been excellent on both visits, with the caveat that breakfast is busy and the food took a long time to arrive. 3. Breakfast was solid. Not transcendent but solid eggs and toast and home fries and coffee and everybody seemed happy. Room for improvement 1. For Putney Vermont - get some decent vegan and vegetarian options. 2. The veggie burger was bean based, mushie old-school 70's style. Fell apart as soon as you picked it up. 3. The cheeseburger was good. It's just that for $18 you could show a little more attention to detail. A greenish slice of winter tomato. A single leaf of iceberg lettuce. 2 ringlets off an onion slice. And no pickle. 4. The fries that came with it had to be sent back to be cooked longer. And there was a big puddle of oil on the plate once I slid the par-cooked fries onto a side dish. The server was lovely about it and they came back fast and cooked through. But my guess is the oil wasn't hot enough hence the grease puddle. 5. The chicken orzo soup was meh. I don't try it. Brought it home for sick family member. And sorry but my personal pet peeve - the pre-calculated tip options were 20,22,25% and all calculated on top of the sales tax. Understand that it has gotten VERY expensive to go out for a burger for your average local. So putting a little more attention into it would be greatly appreciated. All the best, and thank you.
