It looked like another family restaurant and reminded me a little of Denny's as you walk in but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. There is plenty of parking if the plaza isn't too busy. We got seated right away for a late dinner service. The server was attentive and checked in often. Menu selection was large with a wide array of ethnic food - Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian and Western food. Service was fast but mind you, it was late at night and not too many patrons there. My beef taco was perfect. Very tasty, perfect portions, healthy and light. I was not disappointed. My companion had the Chinese sweet and sour. Price was decent. A simple family restaurant along the line of ABC or the pantry, but better in my opinion. I'll start with the food. Good selection of the usual stuff with a few more ethnic choices (like butter chicken). Really good specials like the Friday ribs deal (worth making the trip) where you get a full rack for the price of a half rack. The food is what you pay for essentially, simple but satisfying. Where this place really shines is the service. Everyone is always super friendly and pleasant and polite! The General manager makes rounds, chatting with customers often and even helps serve. A very comfortable atmosphere. All in all, a great family restaurant that will be a regular place for me and my partner for sure. read more

Since reopening the service & quality of food has been terrible. We've been going here for over 2 years and always enjoyed the food & amazing service. But it seems since the good managers were laid off & the owner of the restaurant has been taking on the responsibility the quality of service & food has gone to sh*t. We've been there 3 times since they've Reopened and have been unimpressed all 3 times. It seems like over time the services is getting worse and worse. For example, yesterday we went in for breakfast was so disappointed by the food & service. We were seated then waited 5 minutes for someone to take our drink orders...another 10 minutes to receive our drinks. We asked for cream, sugar & cutlery & the waitress rolled her eyes as if i was being a pain in her ass for asking. They dropped off our food minus the kids toast so we figured they were going to come back with her toast. We didn't see our waitress for about 15 minutes and when we finally did I asked her about the toast but at that point the kid didn't want the toast anymore. All the food was overcooked. We could hear the couple at the table 2 spots over also complaining about the quality of the service and food. This is the first time in my life that I have not tipped but this place was so disappointing I couldn't bring myself to give them any more than they deserved. When I went to pay at the front there was 2 other customers in the waiting area complaining to the waitress & being very vocal about the quality of service they were receiving. The owner of the restaurant was cowarding in the corner watching the customers go off on his employees about the service. The owner literally stands in a corner watching his restaurant go to sh*t. They need to bring the good managers back. One was named Cherry and the other was a Brown guy who I don't remember his name but when those 2 are working that restaurant has amazing food & service & a family friendly feeling. Until they do we will not be visiting this restaurant again. And by what I observed yesterday I'm not the only one who won't be back. read more

Place to go esp if you goto coquitlam center or to port moody park etc. Plenty of parking too. And you wonder why I gave it a 3 star so here goes... We were seated promptly and order for beer for me came pretty fast-beer was chilled and so were the appetizers (sweet potato fries and calamari). Both appys were good but our server forgot to bring th plates for the appys so we waited about 5 minutes and then finally dug in. When she came around we asked for the plates and she was nonchalant about it. For entree we ordered the halibut something and a salmon something. Both were pretty disappointing. We had high hopes after out appys and beer. Anyways its an ok place to go but I was expecting more. For 2 of us it was about $80 with tax and tip (10% only ). I dont think I would return. If you are looking for a very fast very bland food this is the place to eat.I got the "full" rack of ribs and in most places it would have been a half rack...my wife got the burger...McDonalds big mac would have been better. This is an honest review from a couple that don't expect a lot from the Coquitlam Grill. Service: 3 out of 5. I don't like overly chatty or fake servers, but this one seemed like she did not want to be there. We all have bad days, but there you go. Food: 3 out of 5. Not bad, not great. Right in the middle, I had baked lasagna, my wife had Chicken Pasta, it was what we expected. No drinks, $35. Why only 2 out of 5? My wife bit into her salad and out came a plastic bread bag tie. A full white one. And it hurt. Not expecting it - and why would she?! Manager came and apologized, said someone must have opened a bread bag and it fell in. Wow. Thanks for explaining that to us. This place needs a cosmetic makeover!! HOWEVER.... The staff were amazing! Very tentative and hilarious. The menu was huge, which kinda scared me =/ But I ended up ordering the baked chicken with broccoli and cheese. on a bed of stuffing and rice on the side. My boyfriend ordered a clubhouse. The meals came fast, and were pleasantly delicious. My only complaint was that the stuffing was a little on the mushy side. other than that. The flavor was there. My boyfriend was pleased with his clubhouse. The food was like something my mum would have made me. The place was busy, which is nice to see. Before I started being a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant I had never been here! About once a month my director has a Girls Night Out Dinner and Makeover here for us consultants and clients. It seems like a bizarre place to have it but it works. We get the back room and are treated VERY well. It's not the best looking place but the food and service are very good! The atmosphere is relaxed although on a Mary Kay night you're bound to see a bunch of us dressed up in skirts of some sort. For a home style restaurant it's not bad at all. Only one word can describe the food, and that's "wow". I had the southern fried country chicken dinner. Best cauliflower ever...I can't believe I just said that. The food comes out quickly and steaming hot. The staff is very friendly and like I saw someone else say, the menu has lots of items on it to choose from. I've been hear a few times with my boyfriend and this place never disappoints me. I always get the Cajun Lime Chicken Penne and time and time again they always make it to perfection. From the Caesar salad that comes with it down to the penne everything is ALWAYS made fresh. The service is also impeccable. It's a neighborhood restaurant and so there are always people dining inside, no matter what time of the day or night. And I think it's because the people who work here not only enjoy working here, but they make the customers feel like they're family. All in all I enjoy this place. I started to come here around 2011. I am impressed with the extremely friendly service. The food is good and consistent. I like the sundae dessert and they seem to have a chocolate mint cake that is always sold out. Took me like 3 years actually to get 1 slice. It was rich and minty. At one point I have tried 90% of the menu and most of the items are fantastic. I love the ribs and pasta combo, they are generously portioned. For days I feel like tomato, the jambalaya rice bowl can hit the spot. Pulled pork Mac n cheese and pulled pork baguette are also fine choices. For salad eaters, the strawberry summer salad is a very refreshing one to go for. Recently, the price went up by about a dollar. The menu changed removing a few of my personal favorites from the California chicken burger to the bass fish burger. Overall, you can get a great deal eating here. read more

Oh coquitlam grill.. I could sing you praises all day long. Coquitlam Grill is truly a gem in Coquitlam. At first I wasn't exactly turned on to it's exterior - it didn't exactly exude elegance and it gave off this old pub feeling vibe, but I promise you if you give it a try and go in and have a meal, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I remember my first visit at the Grill on a late Saturday with my husband. There was quite a wait but when we got seated the waitresses and waiters were swift in getting our beverage orders and meal orders down. Don't look down at the old exterior of this building because inside this place runs on high energy, organization, and extremely high service standards. There are TVs everywhere you look and even a bar for individuals that all have their individual t.v. screens in front of their chairs so that you don't have to feel awkward watching the game alone. It also runs on very high technology as we can see - they take orders on their iPhones and there are tons of workers on the floor at a single morning to cater to all the tables. This place is huge btw! In terms of food, it's a great price for fantastic food. They've hit the spot on my meals every sing time and the portion is generous. I've ordered their strawberry cake breakfast at least twice now and I'm still so impressed with it. It's priced at 12 something but you get 2 eggs of your choice, 3 sausage or bacon, potatoes of your choice (I highly recommend the flat mashed kind) AND 2 pancakes with strawberry and cream/syrup/strawberry sauce all on the side for you. It stuffs me every single time and I love it! It's far better than what they serve at Cora with an even better price. I highly recommend everyone to come to the Grill for a breakfast , lunch, or dinner and bring the entire family. As for myself, I'm going to be returning one day to try their dinners and see how those pan out. read more

Staff is always friendly and super willing to accommodate large groups! A large group of us go here almost every Sunday. The wait is never longer than 20 minutes, even for large groups. Food comes out fast, servers are attentive and there is always someone floating around with more coffee and water - I almost never have to ask for a refill! The manager is so sweet and friendly to people, all ages. The menu is great and the all-day breakfast is awesome, especially for weekends! My only complaint is I wish they were open later!! read more

Overpriced mediocre food. I ordered a turkey cranberry sandwich on focaccia and it was gross. The turkey was dry, the bread fell apart. Great place to take young kids. The servers are well versed in handling loud, noisy, rambunctious tables and always with a smile. My kids love coming here with Grandma. And it's a great stress free place to come with the kids as parents too. Big menu, lots of different choices and very good value comfort food. The mac and cheese is my kids favorite; as is the ice cream sundae dessert included in kids meals. I've had the Thai shrimp salad and the lasagna and both were terrific. Happy they are open for dine in, however, unimpressed. My friend and I came for our favorite dessert, the Brownie Avalanche, which is apparently not back on the menu as of yet. Alrighty, we've come all the way from Langley to finally enjoy our BA, but we'll concede. After an enormously long wait (over 30 min) we get the Chocolate Lava cakes. Tasteless, semi warm, a bit of whipped cream with 1 strawberry cut in half and DRY. BORING! And, $2 more than the Brownie Avalanche. I've had Chocolate Lava cakes before and this was NOT it. Thank Goodness for the mint chocolates that came with the bill. They were MUCH tastier than the overpriced tasteless dessert we had to settle for. Needless to say .... NO TIP!
