My mother likes sandwiches but they have to be exactly to her very specific liking or they're simply not good, not good at all. One simple chicken salad with tomato on ciabatta from The Corner Cafe and she was hooked! Thank god. We had take out sandwiches this weekend - a Turkey Gobbler on ciabatta was stuffed with turkey with cranberry sauce and a nice enough stuffing, though a bit bland. The aforementioned chicken salad was once again a hit. A big Reuben filled up the bottomless pit that is a 12 year old to satisfaction- you can substitute coleslaw for sauerkraut if you like. A sophisticated teen-aged palate liked the Brooklyn, a spoof on a Reuben: roast beef, caramelized onion, coleslaw, thousand island on toasted rye. Juicy hot dogs were grilled, on crispy rolls and condiment-ed to order. We liked everything, it was good and priced reasonably. My only quibble is that sure, the food was good but there wasn't a wow to be heard. Nice sandwiches, nice people running the Corner Cafe and nice prices so I guess it's win all around, Personally, I just like to see or taste something different from what I can make at home. On the other hand, the food is solid, dependable and reasonably priced so you can go and get a good meal, breakfast or lunch (never had breakfast, so can't comment). The bread choices are good and a bit different from the run of the mill white or wheat. There are grilled paninis, salads, wraps and subs as well as individual flat bread pizzas and I'm hoping that while working through the menu I'll find the "wow's" in there. Oh and there are dinner trays for take out, small or large feeding four or more: standard selections like chicken parm with ziti, spinach pie, chicken cordon bleu, etc. Good stuff. read more

Let me tell you something: when I was little, I used to wake up and ask "What's for dinner?" Dinner is just my thing, so it's a pretty big deal when breakfast manages to knock my socks off. Numerous times, mind you. The extensive amount of options on the menu is unreal! If you're an indecisive diner (like me) it's going to take you a while. But no matter what you order, IT WILL BE WORTH IT. So far, I've tried an egg bowl, Eggs Benedict Florentine, Eggs Benedict hash, among many others. I honestly can't wait to give their pancakes and french toast tries as well. No matter what you order, always make sure to get their au gratin home fries as your side! They are deliciously cheesy and worth every calorie. Tucked away along route 139, you'll find this classic, little breakfast joint. Small place, big menu. From the breakfast scramblers, to the bowls, to the benedicts, and all the specials, there's definitely something here for everyone. Whatever you order, make sure you get a side of au gratin potatoes. You will not be disappointed. Cheesy, casseroley potatoes hot out of the oven. I've gotten a bunch of different things here, but my favorite breakfast is probably the California Benedict. Flakey croissant topped with spinach, bacon, tomato, avocado, and poached eggs. My DH and I stopped at the corner cafe for the first time this Saturday simply because it was on the way the Marshfield farmer's market. We got a late start to the morning which caused us to arrive at the busiest time for breakfast. We waited the estimated time by the hostess (around 20 mins) we waited outside and hostess called our cell when the table was ready. She was very attentive, but never rushed us; she remembered our order perfectly and checked on us at just the right times. I ordered the crab benedict over a croissant with o gratin home fries. Woe, delish and no... I did not finish all that! I order the crab benedict anywhere I see it offered and can get homemade hollandaise. This was one of the best ones I've had in a while. We also shared a small fruit cup and a side order of the homemade jalapeno corn cakes. Not overly huge, perfect to share and all super delicious. The only reason I give it 4 stars today to is because my husband ordered the french toast bowl. It consists of french toast sticks and sausage over scrambeled eggs and homefries. Sounds great right? Not when you cannot even eat the eggs because they are drowning in Syrup. My husband does love maple syrup, but he said it made everything taste one noted. sweet, sweet sweet Also, the have an alarmingly large menu which is usually a bad thing for restaurants, but they seem to handleing it just fine. First time since the big remodel and first time for lunch, so I'm going to be forgiving--especially since it's "new." I positively adored the small town breakfast spot ambience and the amazing breakfast menu of the "old" Corner Cafe. A friend and I stopped by for lunch to see the new digs and, I'm sorry to say, lunch was a bit good and a bit disappointing. It's loud. There wasn't a table available, so we sat at the bar? counter? and still were needing to raise our voices and repeat ourselves over the dishes clanking, babies crying, people talking, etc. The bistro feel is beautiful, but not conducive to conversation. We ordered the Thai salad and it was small, but slightly better than mediocre. The dressing was great, the lettuce fresh, but what absolutely ruined it was canned pineapple. It doesn't have to have pineapple--try grated carrot or purple cabbage. What else could you do? But, please, not canned pineapple. Enough restaurants in Marshfield and surrounds to find better (and quieter) lunch for the $$. I'm not giving up on the Corner Cafe, though. I'm going to try it once or twice more--for breakfast--and hope I rediscover my old favorite. read more

Really good breakfast and lunch spot in the center of town. The sandwiches are good and tried breakfast here for the first time today. It was still packed on a Sunday at 12:15 but we snagged a small table right when we got there. My husband got a breakfast wrap and I got the New England breakfast. His wrap was good but really small and not worth $8 and change. My meal was very good- scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, home fries and two pancakes with blueberry. They charged $2 to add the blueberries. Next time I'll opt for just plain pancakes. Got the raspberry iced coffee. It was decent but likely won't get again. I'll try the junior mint one next time. Overall a really good breakfast and lunch joint in town but it gets really busy, awful to pull out of if you're going towards CVS, and pretty pricey. This is a place we'll come occasionally but too pricey to come often. read more

Another great place on the south shore! We've only had breakfast here but it's outstanding. The menu goes on for pages. It is online so you can narrow it down before going if you'd like. If you like Benedict in anyway you should check this place out because there's more than a dozen varieties on the menu. They are also one of the few places we've found huevos rancheros. The breakfast sandwiches are small and don't come with anything so keep that in mind when ordering. It definitely can have a wait especially on a weekend so plan accordingly. read more

I got the classic eggs benidict, however the cafe has an entire section of different variations of eggs Benedict (praise lawdd), including a smoked salmon Benedict and Italian one with prosciutto (drooling..) I guess I'll have to come back and try these next. The dish comes with a choice of hash or home fries. Typically I get full pretty fast from home fries but these were cut into smaller bits mixed with onions and herbs....they were fantastic and complimented the eggs Benedict well. It took a little over half an hour for the food to come out, which was a bit long since it wasn't too busy. I've been down a couple more times and the food is still excellent. I love these places that are non-chain operations run by real people who are not just employees making a buck. This is a family operation and it's clearly important to them that they get it right and that the customer is happy. One cool thing is that they now have a Lavazza Expresso machine so all of a sudden they have the best espresso shot in town. I was hesitant to write this review, as I don't want his place to get super crowded. By far the best breakfast in town! Such a cute place, has about 7 tables and then a counter with 4 stools, which is great if you are running in alone. All the food is to die for, and their coffee is on the strong side. The waitresses are friendly and nice( not like another breakfast place in town). The have all the standard egg dishes and pancakes, but they have some real variety.
