Kitchen , rite next to our table

First and foremost, Place is not as depicted in the pictures. Menu was too long and confusing. We took lot of time to identify the dishes. Veg and Non veg Appetizers were not fresh, it was felt as served from frozen. Entree's were better but still dint felt fresh. Of all the items we ordered Chicken biryani, Dal tadka were decent. Salt lassi was very salty, couldn't even drink ( after complaint they changed it to more diluted). Most of the dishes were lacking authentic Indian food tastes. Person attending us was nice and very courteous. We were treated with free deserts and discounts. Place is little pricey for the quality of the food. Overall felt the place is overrated.

I have nothing but praise for the Cotillion! Normally if I'm eating Indian cuisine, it's some where in Queens. My experiences with Indian cuisine here on Long Island have been pretty poor. The food tends to be over priced, small quantities and lack of spice. Today I ordered the lunch special from the Cotillion and was very impressed. The portion size was large, had the perfect amount of spices and the food just tasted incredibly fresh! The fact that they include a small dessert just seals the deal! If you come here, say yes to dessert and order the Gulab Jamun!

According to its very nice manager, The Cotillion has existed in one incarnation or another for at least 60 years so it is a relief that this review will not have much impact. The Cotillion restaurant is a small and attractive space attached to a much larger catering hall.It has a large parking lot.On Tuesday, 11/22, I hosted a dinner for ten here.Upon arrival I made small talk with Mr.Manager and he made me a terrific Vodka Martini. Our group assembled and we were seated in the empty restaurant. The restaurant features a menu which reads longer than your average novel, containing not only Indian dishes, but Indian/Chinese and Thai food as well. We ordered and, after an extensive delay of nearly an hour, some appetizers arrived. The Vegetable Samosas and Spring Rolls were well received.I passed on apps and ordered two entrees instead to accompany my crisp and refreshing Taj Mahal beer.I asked Mr.Manager for his suggestions. He recommended The Cotillion Special Biryani which I chose, along with Hakka Chili Chicken to get out of my usual Chicken Tikka Masala comfort zone. The Cotillion Special was a winner, arriving as a massive mound of tasty rice with shrimp, lamb and chicken. The rice was moist and nicely cooked.I would certainly order this dish again. However, the Hakka Chili Chicken was tough and hard to eat.I took most of it home to try the next day to give it another chance to please me but I could not eat it. My fellow diners liked some of the entrees. They mentioned the Chicken Saga, the Basil Ginger Chicken and the Mango Chicken.I tasted someone else's Chicken Tikka Masala and it was meh. The biggest problem with our evening was the extreme wait for our food.We were the only people in the restaurant and the single chef that was working could not get the dishes out on a timely basis. We were not able to leave the restaurant until 9:45 p.m, not good on a work night when many diners had long drives home. The Cotillion did not meet my expectations but I would not rule out a return visit.

The restaurant is medium sized, lots of booths, and was decorated for Valentine's Day. They take reservations and were pretty busy. Service was good, although a little slow at the beginning. I tried the following dishes: Cauliflower Manchurian (3/5): This dish was pretty good, but not amazing. I did enjoy it. Garlic Chili Noodles (3.5/5): Pretty good noodles, not very spicy but good flavor and consistency. Hakka Chili Chicken (4/5): I liked this chicken, but my dining partner did not. The chicken was boneless dark meat, which I really like. You can get it with no, light, or full gravy. We did full and had it with rice. I did enjoy this dish. Overall, I had a pretty good experience at HAKA. No dishes were real standouts, but they were all decent. It is not a bad option for Indo-Chinese in the area.

The menu has both indian and chinese dishes. It's not fusion just two different cuisines being sold. We ordered a roll that came with shrimp tempura, mango and salmon. It was very good, a warm grill that felt like a sandwich. The side galore noodles we ordered were dry and not very flavourful. We ordered shrimp with then and they came with fried/tempura shrimp, which we found odd. There was also egg on the dish but it did nothing for the noodles. We ordered the noodles regular so they should have had some sauce but there was none. The chicken dishes were both really good. The chicken wasn't overly fried or breaded. It tasted fresh and had a good bite to it. I like the spicy garlic chicken a bit more because of the spice. The haka chicken was more of a sweet and salty flavor. Both were tasty. If I'm in the area I'll come back here.

Super friendly staff. Hot and sour soup- great balance of flavors but not sour enough. Certainly hot The Thai soup - absolutely delivers on spice and thickness. Dangerously delicious! Chicken tikka masala- sauce is nice and thick, seems like made with coconut milk not cream. Seemed to have 0 salt added. Had some spice flavor but missed the mark on a true tikka. Hakka chicken - failed to deliver on the promise of flavor. Had good taste but nothing note worthy. Seems to have fallen on the bland side Pad Thai - more saucy than other places. Shrimp in the dish are all tiny baby shrimp. Tastes a bit none traditional but overall pretty good. Their side of hot sauce is a very interesting one. Unique flavor. Would I come back? Probably but not for a while. However I would advise trying it as many people have had great experiences. I didn't want their ratings to be hit by a 3. Try it!

Everyone was very welcoming and attentive. My party ordered the pork dumplings and three different noodle bowls: spring roll, Angus beef, and lemongrass chicken. The best one was the beef which included a delicious peanut sauce. The although it had a good flavor, the chicken was dry. Both it and the spring roll dish needed extra dressing. The pork in the dumplings had a "gamey" flavor which made me wonder about the meat quality. There is ample table seating, and a beautiful colorful owl at the entrance. If you decide to try this restaurant, order the beef noodle bowl with the peanut sauce.

We also ordered the half Peking duck and spicy black fish. The Peking duck was served with pancakes to wrap the duck as well as cucumber, pineapple and hoisin sauce.
