Wifey wanted Thai for lunch and since we've been before we decided to eat here again. This time we brought our son to eat with us. He loves shrimp rolls and spring rolls. So we got the combo. But it's like $27 so like $9 for each appetizer. No lunch special today so wifey ordered the full plate of pad see ew with beef. I wanted crispy chive cake and the wonton soup. We were the only ones dining but the place had just opened up for lunch. Free parking in the back. Total for everything was about $90 which included two drinks - lychee lemonade and some lychee Bellini. Honestly I don't think the drinks are worth the price. Most likely won't get those next time. And will most likely do the lunch specials to help with cost. Overall, everything tasted great! Service was friendly as usual. Just not sure about the cost. read more

Chada Thai used to be one of my absolute favorite local Thai spots, so I was definitely curious to try it again after the change in ownership and chefs. While it's not quite the same as the original Chada I loved, the food is still delicious, fresh, authentic, and very reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our meal, and the portions are great for the price. Some of my favorites are still the crab fried rice, pad see ew, chive cakes, shrimp rolls, and Thai chicken steamed dumplings. Everything we had was flavorful and delicious! I also have to give the new owners credit for the changes they've made to the space. The restaurant looks even prettier now, and they added outdoor tables, which make it feel that much cuter and more inviting, especially on a nice day. While I do miss some of the flavors from the previous kitchen, I'm happy to say Pavarin Thai Bistro is still a great neighborhood Thai spot with delicious food, good portions, and reasonable prices. I found this spot as I was looking for a Thai restaurant in Hicksville and it had great reviews. Google was saying that reservations were recommended but the times my friend and I tried calling (the day before), no one ever picked up so my friend and I just showed up on a Thursday afternoon hoping reservations weren't needed. By the way, their website does not work. Anyway, we ended up being the only people eating in for the 2 hours that we were there. I don't know if they weren't busy because it was a weekday and gloomy weather outside but our server was very friendly/sweet/welcoming and we were both happy with our meals and drinks! There is a small free parking lot behind the restaurant. I almost missed the entrance to the lot but it's literally right next to the restaurant, which is a small cute looking stand alone house. There were tables out front but the day we went it was a little chilly/rainy so we opted to sit inside. There were a few tables inside and even a small bar so we just sat in a booth. The overall decor inside was very cute! There's also a bathroom in the back. I ordered the Lunch Special: Pad See Ew with Shrimp and a Thai Iced Tea. I forgot what my friend ordered but she really liked it and said it had a home-cooked meal feel to it which was a positive thing. My food was also delicious though a bit on the smaller portion size and it came with a small salad (you can choose the salad or Tom Yum Soup) and a small spring roll. The Lunch Special Menu is only available Monday to Friday 11:30AM-3:00PM except holidays. Dinner out with the kids in Hicksville. We found Pavirin Thai Bistro on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Ambience - very cozy atmosphere walking up to the restaurant. Looks like an ideal place for Friday night date nights. Food - we ordered: Crispy Duck Salad - the lime flavor of the salad was good for those who like citrus with their greens, but the duck was a little underwhelming. It was sliced into small pieces and was not crispy. 3/5 Roti Massaman - flat bread with chicken curry dip. Yummy 4/5 Beef with Red Curry - the beef was a little tough and chewy. Could have benefitted from some more seasoning and tenderization. 3/5 Chicken with Cashew - oversalted. Take it easy on the soy sauce. 2/5 TL/DR: although Pavirin does well with the ambience and friendly service, the food quality is inconsistent. read more

I think the only thing we got which was good was the drunken noodles. The other tables near us also ordered pad Thai and pad see euw which looked good. The roti masaman is a hard no - they don't give you enough roti and the sauce was basically exactly the same as the khao soy noodles. The flavor of the chicken satay was lackluster. We got the fish tilapia special which was also okay but not what we expected - it came with filets instead of frying the whole fish. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I ordered the basil fried rice with chicken, and the chicken was clearly undercooked--raw and crunchy. I informed the waitress, who acknowledged the issue, took my plate, and brought me a replacement. Unfortunately, the second dish also contained multiple pieces of raw chicken. When I pointed it out again, the waitress insisted it wasn't raw. I told her that I cook regularly and know what undercooked chicken looks and feels like. Despite serving me two dishes with raw chicken, no one offered to replace the meal with something else or remove it from the bill. When I asked for the dish to be taken off, I was told they couldn't do that. I then asked to speak with the manager or owner, and the waitress told me the owner refused to come out and speak with me. Serving undercooked chicken is a serious food safety issue, but the lack of customer service was just as disappointing. An owner who won't even speak to a customer after such an experience clearly doesn't value their patrons. I won't be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

You come here if you are with a date. The decor is well thought out. It's a small little place next to ihop. Parking lot is small, they have outdoor seating but since it's winter, no one sat outside. It's dimly lit inside. Food menu is quite extensive, typical Thai food menu. The food was acceptable but like I said you come here for the ambiance. We tried pad sew; pad Thai, fried rice, and the pick three appetizer combo. Prices a bit on the higher end. read more

Well I just had a life changing meal on my lunch break. This place is incredible I highly recommend the Khao Soi it was so comforting and shockingly not as heavy as I thought it would be. This little place is absolute deliciousness. Not a fancy place but a beautiful authentic menu with a lovely and welcoming staff. We had the crispy chive cake to start. It came out and didn't look like I expected but fabulous. Then we had the drunken noodles with shrimp. Again fantastic. Then we ordered the garlic pepper stir fry with chicken. Also great. The mains are good and standard but pass on the appetizers. We got a sampler with shrimp rolls, curry puffs, and chicken dumplings. The dumplings were unseasoned shumai, the curry ouffs were tasty but nothing worth the cost, and the shrimp rolls were literally shrimp in a friend roll rather than a spring roll. 3.5 stars... nothing objectionable other than the odd spiritual country religious type music, but not somewhere that I would return to or recommend. I identified what makes these small mom and pop places seem to have a lack of charm and it's the hotel conference room type shellacked dark wood furniture. If this setting had some cute, trendy colorful distressed wooden tables and chairs and some funky tin floral tableware, and some Thai style music, it wouldn't look and feel so bland. Pavirin is fairly new to Hicksville, having opened since January 2025. As others may have said, it kind of feels like a hole in the wall type of restaurant from Jackson Heights. We felt the same way, in the best possible way. It wouldn't be the best spot for a business meeting but good enough for a family night out. The menu is pretty extensive with a good selection of appetizers, standard entrees at most Thai restaurants, and mango sticky rice for dessert. 1) We got the appetizer trio (choose 3 apps for $25) and they were pretty solid. 2) We got an entree each: my masala curry (tasty but I'll try another curry next time); the tofu drunken noodle (spicy); the pineapple fried rice (served in a pineapple shaped bowl, its really good); and then the cilantro beef stir fry that's on the separate menu (also a bit spicy). Note that their spice level is legit and those dishes are noted on the menu with a chili, so please do ask for a milder/moderate option if you're not great at handling spice. 3) get their mango sticky rice - it's so good. They also have outdoor seating, which would be nice if you plan to enjoy the Sun or plan to bring your dog. read more

The food here was genuinely very good and we enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. However, what happened with the billing was completely unacceptable. We were a party of 5 but were charged a service/transaction fee as if we were a party of 6, and we were never informed about this upcharge at any point before or during payment. On top of that, we also tipped in addition to these fees. We only discovered all of this after we got home and reviewed the receipt more carefully. When we later called the restaurant to ask for clarification, we were told the fees were applied because we are Chinese. That explanation is deeply upsetting and discriminatory. Charging customers extra based on ethnicity is unacceptable. Failing to clearly disclose fees and overcharging the party size only makes the situation worse. A restaurant cannot treat customers this way and expect them to return, regardless of how good the food is. I hope management takes this seriously and makes immediate changes. read more

This is a cute place and the food is good and artistically presented, and we had been going about once a week. However, we had pretty bad experience two weeks ago and haven't gone back. We got there at 9 and asked if we were too late. The waiter said no the restaurant closes at 9:30 and directed us to a table. We ordered and our food came at 9:20 and the waiter turned on the bright lights. We ate quickly, but the waiter came over frequently taking things and making it clear that he wanted us out. It was very uncomfortable and I gulped down the food and we were out by 9:35. Really ruined our evening. he just shouldn't have seated us. We would have understood and been fine with that. read more

Well, decided to go with a tradition and that was to eat Thai food on Valentines day. Was willing to travel a little distance to try a new restaurant. Was able to place my order over the phone. When I got to the restaurant I could see it had some table and chairs. Was decorated and was very clean and busy. The gentleman who took my order was very busy and when I was watching him he seemed a little overwhelmed. However, my food was baged up nicely and everything I ordered was absolutely fantastic. Went to this place for Father's Day. Definitely unimpressed. We asked for the dishes to be very spicy. My wife had the Tum Yum Koon Noodle soup with Shrimp. Bland. I had Green Curry with Chicken. Also bland. My son had a Beef Chef's special. He was also disappointed. My son and I shared the Tum Ka soup which they did make spicy as asked. The portions were generous. The prices were reasonable. The restaurant was clean. Just the flavor was lacking. When we complained about the seasoning we were offered a tiny dish of pepper flakes rather than taking the dishes back to the kitchen. I cook Thai at home using various Thai pastes. I was able to adjust the flavor for the leftovers. I go out to eat to get something better than I can make from a jar. If you are looking for a Thai restaurant and don't like spicy food, this is the place for you. read more

We were excited about trying this place based on other reviews and were fairly disappointed. The basil fried rice has a strong fish oil taste, the chicken satay was dry and bland, and the other two dishes were decent but nothing extraordinary; drunken noddles were decent and green curry was good but too thin/watery. We were also disappointed because the place charged a 4-4.5% credit card fee without giving us a heads up and a surprise like this is never good. Tried Pavirin Thai Bistro . Lightly fried juicy tofu with delicious dip. Next time I'll order a second container of dip. Chicken soup was quart size with (as noted on menu-seepix) chicken piece's delicious soup with rice noodles. Different than traditional chicken soup with a Thai flavor. 20 plus dollars as is the duck soup. They have other soups listed at near half price. But i must say the soup is good and plentiful. Entering to a small tent like door to building. Located right on Old Country Road next to IHOP. (Used to be a different restaurant and I'm told they opened in January. Ornate plastic flowers,glasses on hook in back near bathroom, tv screen of lovely video of Thai land area. Some pretty BuddhasI I had not thought to ask of specials ( see pix) . Customers told me their Tilapia was very good. My take out order included dessert of 4 little fried bananas and a small cup of honey with the fried covering crisp and not oily.
