The first part of this review is for mainstream audiences and the second part is for other Yelpers. Part 1. Given the culinary brilliance here, if you order one of your favorites, it'll be done well, but you're better off trying something unique that might not be on the menu at your local Chinese, Indian or Thai spot. Chili tofu and basil ginger fish were two great showcases for the complex spices available here. (I'm a real American hero, I ate fourths since my parents preferred leftovers that didn't have the top spice levels). And if you're spice-adverse yet chili-curious, the honey chili potato is worth a shot. These are essentially fries. Our server, Ten, was amazing. He adeptly handled the multiple time frames of our orders and is ready to provide suggestions for those who didn't spend 40 minutes researching on Yelp. Part 2. I wish there was editing capability for older reviews. I'm a two-sentence guy - are there fish tacos, does it have strange hours of operation and will they sneer at me for wearing Kohls? - and my first Kunga Kitchen attempt was a bit extra. It even had a narrative arc. I'm someone who thinks movies can be better if the character doesn't change or learn anything, but I tried for three-act structure and can't possibly top that original review so it would be better if I could a couple of recent entrees to the first one. read more

Second time visiting this restaurant... first time in their new space, which is now a full built out restaurant & bar. The service is amazing. Servers were pleasant & so so nice. It was such a genuine interaction! All the food was 10/10. I'm not from around here & this place will be a must visit every-time I'm in Long Island. The balance of flavors in every dish was perfect... not too spicy, not too sweet just right! My notable favorites were: Hakka Chilli Chicken Dry, Hot & Sour Soup, Hakka Noodles. I was debating between 3 and 4 stars as my experience was both great and disappointing. Did take out and the speed of the food prep and pickup experience itself was great. Super friendly staff. Hot and sour soup- great balance of flavors but not sour enough. Certainly hot The Thai soup - absolutely delivers on spice and thickness. Dangerously delicious! Chicken tikka masala- sauce is nice and thick, seems like made with coconut milk not cream. Seemed to have 0 salt added. Had some spice flavor but missed the mark on a true tikka. Hakka chicken - failed to deliver on the promise of flavor. Had good taste but nothing note worthy. Seems to have fallen on the bland side Pad Thai - more saucy than other places. Shrimp in the dish are all tiny baby shrimp. Tastes a bit none traditional but overall pretty good. Their side of hot sauce is a very interesting one. Unique flavor. Would I come back? Probably but not for a while. However I would advise trying it as many people have had great experiences. I didn't want their ratings to be hit by a 3. Try it! read more

First time here based on my friend's recommendation who has dined here several times. They offer Indian, Chinese and Thai dishes and we went with Indian. All the dishes we had were tasty. They were able to accommodate the spice level which was great. Service was friendly and efficient. There is a small parking lot in the back as well as street parking. I am only interested in the Hakka fusion: the Kai Chi wings are like the "Drums of Heaven!" from our long gone and sorely missed Masala Wok...:(. I don't get the 5 star reviews. Maybe it was what we ordered, but we were extremely underwhelmed with the food. Flavors were very very very mild, to the point of almost bland. There was absolutely no depth of flavor. We also ordered "medium spicy" and were warned that their medium is actually "very" spicy, which we were fine with. What we actually got was beyond mild; it was more like not spicy at all! The 5 Star ratings were what drew us to this restaurant but after this visit, I don't see a return visit. Our menu tonight: -- Veg Samosas (2/$4.99): these were on the small side and just ok; ironically, probably the best item we had this evening! SMH -- Chicken Korma ($15.99): I've never had Korma like this before. No flavor, no depth, no spice. -- Hakka Chilli Shrimp ($19.99): this dish was better than the Chix Korma, but still just ok. Shrimp was good but it had a thick batter. -- Basmati Rice: complimentary with each entree. -- Masala Chai Tea ($3): ok Warning: The restaurant is lacking of heat, so be prepared to dine-in with your coat on. Finally I made it to Kunga Kitchen after I bookmarked it a long while ago. I placed order through Uber Eats for pickup. Service:4 stars. The boss lady called on what type of fish I preferred and on my special request on spicy level (they put Prompt fish on Uber Eats menu rather than Red Snapper on the regular menu. Only medium spicy or mild as option on the Uber Eats menu). They owner lady was very humble. I picked up my order per scheduled. Beautiful! The fish: 4 stars. The huge PLUS for me were absolute freshness, not heavily coded, lightly fried, not salty, little sugar added (used sweet onion and bean paste in the sauce, and garlicky but not over powering. Also bean pasted used in the sauce which gave it extra flavor and texture. The only thing I would ask next time may be less starch in the sauce. The fish was small. And there were no broccolis with takeouts?! I saw others photos had broccolis. I wish had some in mine too. The restaurant was very tidy. For a severe OCD like me that was one Michelin Star. Lol! We have come here a few times. Twice as a party of 5; 2 kids age 8. Once as a party of 7; 2 kids age 8 and a toddler. Each time we have been met with nothing short of a fantastic dinning experience. The ambiance here is nice, and the service is top notch. What really shines here is the food. The first time we went full fusion, fried rice, papaya salad, vegetable dumplings, noodles, Manchurian. It was fantastic we wanted to come back to try the Indian section of the menu. Typically we expect fusion places to be only decent at Indian food because they have such a wide menu. We were pleasantly surprised at how phenomenal the Indian food here tasted. I can whole heartedly recommend the Palak Paneer and the Paneer tikka masala to anyone even the most voracious carnivore. I have happened to have walked in on their first day and ordered their Chicken Pad Thai...extra, extra, extra spicy. Although my mouth and stomach was on fire, I enjoyed every single bite! Everything was full of flavor and my food was absolutely delicious! Their service is amazing. I spoke with the manager briefly to find that he is a very pleasant man! Everyone is very friendly here. I always look at the cleanliness of a restaurant before ordering and they passed my test! You need to find parking on the street but I was fortunate enough to find it right in front. They're located in the former Kurrikitch location. I'm sure they're going to work on removing that sign soon. Will I be going back to try other menu items? You bet I will! This place looks like it's locally family owned (may not be). I love the location and the indo/thai cuisine mix. Food is always delicious when we do take out from here, the staff is also very kind. It was Valentines Day and we were planning on going to our favorite Ramon spot but it closed for renovations. We drove further down Woodberry Rd and pulled into the first spot we could, to find a mother place to eat. 'Ironically we found ourselves parked in font of Kunga Kitchen I checked Yelp 4 1/2 stars. We gave it a try. Indian, Thai and Chinese. The decor was Thai warm and cozy. Our waitress was very sweet explained an anything we were unsure of and we ordered we started with Chicken Fried Dumplings they were very good made with ground chicken and spices. Our second selection was Chile Garlic Fried Shrimp which was the star of the night jumbo shrimp battered and fried to perfection served with a topping of chopped veggies and spices. The shrimp were crispy and soft and juicy inside. My wife had shrimp Pad Thai which was excellent and I had the chicken Biryani very flavorful with some heat. This isn't standard hicksville indian take out food... sometimes when you look at a menu at ither places and they show they serve different regions of Indian, hakka and Thai food you know nothing is gonna be great cause they specialize in nothing. Not Kunga Kitchen though.... everything I have tried has been great. They make great hakka style chili chicken, their coriander garlic chicken is one of my favorite dishes, thier hot and sour soup is one of the best I have ever tasted. Cannot recommend these two dishes enough; they were definitely the highlight of the dinner. Other food was also very good! Make sure to get mild for chili garlic noodles because they are much more spicier than the other dishes due to the chili! I really enjoyed their food--the manchow soup was also very good. Only thing I recommend against is their Thai food because it doesn't have Thai flavors. For instance, papaya salad and Tom yum soup did not taste like they're supposed to at all. I think they've mastered the other dishes, however! If you're planning on dining in, expect longer wait time as it's a small business and they don't have much staff so it will take a while to get ur food and sometimes, to even be seated. On Woodbury road northwest side off of south Oysterbay road in Plainview , is a Thai, Chinese Asian takeout restaurant called Kunga Kitchen. Their shrimp fried rice is so fresh they must have made it on the spot. They don't have pork fried rice but the scrimp were so good. I also got chicken fried dumplings made just right. They do have a sauce , not sweet, and ask if you want it mild or hot. Tip: there door is hard to open seems it's a wind tunnel suction and you need to push as at first I'd thought it locked. I've been to Kunga Kitchen several times and always have a great dining experience. Kunga specializes in Asian fusion cuisine, which is a blend of Indian, Thai, Chinese, and Tibetan food. The chef is quite good and knows how to make excellent dishes with big portions that arrive quickly. Its good to go with friends as everyone can sample and share various dishes. Chicken fried rice is extremely good and not oily like you get at most Chinese places. Sesame Chicken and Chicken with Brocolli arrive in big portions s with bowls of Basmati rice. Make sure to stipulate the degree of spiciness, if any, for all dishes. Chicken Biryani is fantastic as well as Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, and aloo Ghobi. Friends love the Dry Chicken, Spring Rolls, and Man Chow Soup to name a few. Kunga Kitchen always serves up great dishes for a good price where you get your moneys worth. We have been driving by this restaurant for months and we finally decided to give a try. We did take out and the food was amazing. The place is small but it's clean and nicely renovated after the precious Curry place closed over a year ago. The person who took my order over the phone was very nice. She was there when I went to pick up the food, very pleasant and friendly lady. She even came out of the counter to open the door for me when I was exiting. We ordered variety of dishes. My husband loved the chicken tikka (appetizer). That's always been his favor dish, but he can't really find a place that makes it well especially when we do take out. This place won him over. LOL. We also ordered chicken manchurian, Hakka noodle, steamed dumplings and naan bread. All dishes were very delicious and I loved the chicken manchurian. We got the medium spicy, it was pretty spicy and we loved it. Tandoori naan bread was made with wheat flour, it was good, but the garlic naan bread that made with regular flour tasted better. Was craving some indo-chinese food and it's hard to find without going to Queens. Decided to try this and the food was decent. I ordered a medium spicy chili garlic noodles with chicken and it wasn't spicy at all. There were only 2 options on the online ordering form (mild and medium spicy). I wonder if there was a mistake and I actually received mild. I also wanted more of a garlic kick like I've had before from this dish. The noodles aren't bad but not my favorite version. I also got a Bengali style Thai soup with chicken. It was sweeter than I was expecting and I don't think I'd order it again. I'll have to try other dishes next time and dine-in. One of the ladies, possibly the owner, working there is very kind and will answer all your questions. It's not an overly fancy place, about 4 tables inside for a quick casual meal with family and/or friends. Have tried their drums of heaven, manchow soup, sweet corn soup, szechuan noodles, hakka noodles, szechuan chicken, chili chicken with light gravy.
