The restaurant is very accommodating , the menu/ wine selection has a lot to choose from, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding. The New England Lobster Roll was best I have had in a long time, the salads were great, and the Lobster Bisque was superb. We decided to order off the tapas menu, and we are glad we did. We ordered the Mumbai chicken, cottage fries, calamari and short ribs. Every thing was fresh with great combinations of flavors. Grouper was not grouper. I would bet money on it being Skate , Skate has a flavor somewhat similar to scallops - a fact that seems to support unfounded rumors that round pieces cut from large skate wings used to be passed off as "scallops". It's hard to imagine the unique texture and striations of skate wings fooling anyone who knew their seafood.- or if it was grouper it was both rancid and salt purged. As someone in the seafood / beef industry this common practice infuriates me. Would love to see the invoice on both that and the brisket/Short rib for the burger read more

Beautiful place! I love sitting outside right underneath the trees, the atmosphere is great, inside or out. Just a little bit unexpected, many of the menu items have little twists and turns that make the food, good, and the cooking is solid. One of our favorite places to go for breakfast. read more

Like most places on Siesta Key, they mail in the food and figure avg on the island is good enough. Food is ok, service is ok - but nothing was good, let alone great. Drinks are watered down. Food reminds you of that from a chain restaurant like Cheesecake Factory. Low quality, high prices, tastes ok. Wouldn't go back or recommend. Great for tourists I'm sure and snowbirds. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars! Their food is the most amazing, delicious and beautifully served. One of most incredible meals I have had in a long time! I'm from south Florida and came to spend the weekend at Siesta Key. It was only by accident we found this secret gem. We waited for 45 minutes and do not regret it! They create magic in their kitchen with their recipes. The mixture of flavors is unbelievable. We were lucky to sit in the outside area which has a great atmosphere and you can enjoy the view of all the fun going on from the second floor balcony. Excellent service too! Highly recommended. Absolutely cutest restaurant in Siesta Key Village. We loved the service, food and ambiance. We had a water issue margarita that packed a PUNCH. The appetizers we had were very very good. Food was wonderfully made and so much flavor! If you like scallops or risotto, you MUST have theirs! So so so yummy. Seared to perfection and the cheesy risotto compliments it so well. This was my favorite meal of my whole vacation. I had been here previously (many years ago) for a cocktail, but never had a chance to dine. I sat with a group of 5 out on the front patio for dinner, and there was a fantastic musician playing some 50's style guitar tunes. It really made for the perfect ambiance. Not only is the front patio lovely, but hte interior bar area is nice too! There is also a beautiful garden oasis in the back that would be a great place for a romantic meal. Our server was really friendly and personable, and helped us with some recommendations on the menu. This menu is SO varied! I love that you can pick just about any flavor profile across many styles of cuisine. While a lot of the plates are considered tapas, they are larger than a typical 'small plate' serving. I ended up with the Mumbai Chicken, which was three large crispy wontons with lots of flavorful items piled on top. A little messy to eat, but an explosion of flavors! I also had the cottage chips, which were just okay, but I loved both dipping options. One of our party members had the poke bowl, and that looked amazing. She said it was delicious and fresh. The side dishes on offer looked really interesting, and we ended up with the edamame salad and guava slaw. Of the two, I really loved the edamame salad - I could have eaten a whole bowl! It meets all the burger requirements - super juicy, meaty, little bit of crunch, flavortown, so big you need to squish it to take a bite. I mean 3 meats in one patty?? Candied bacon. I visited The Cottage on a recent trip to Siesta Key. The headline for my review is, "The Cottage delivers a classy casual experience." The atmosphere and dining was very COVID appropriate. There was plenty of quality outdoor seating. The inside seating was nice also but pretty empty except for 1 guy on my visit. I would be happy to be seated in either area in normal times. The cuisine & menu is "American beach bar and grill style" with a Peruvian influence. I had been eating seafood all week ... and I was Jones-ing for a burger, so this is what I ordered. My burger was solid, and I was satisfied. I did have some ceviche for an appetizer which was very good. Others in my party had fish tacos and crab cakes and all were very tasty. The service I received was exceptional and added to my overall quality experience. The prices and value I received for my meal were totally within my expectations. If you are in Siesta Key you can't go wrong at The Cottage. It would be a do again for me and I recommend it. Cheers. read more

Sad when your favorite restaurant disappoints. Food took forever, so long that I had to ask for oranges from the bar to feed the hungry children. Our server was nice enough to bring out fries and apologized. When our food did come out it was disappointing. Our homemade chips were mostly burnt, my salad came with a cheap chili pepper dressing that was thankfully on the side, there was barely any cheese, mostly dried cranberries, and the crab cake should have been called bread cake. As you can see in the pic it was mostly filler. It was also cold in the center, which wasn't terrible since I had it with a salad, but it's odd to bite into something with burnt crispy edges and have it feel cold in the center...unless it's Mexican fried ice cream. My husband's grouper sandwich wasn't bad, but he said he he's had better. $70 later and after waiting so long for mediocre food, I sadly have to downgrade this restaurant from five to three stars. read more

The food is maybe 3 out of 5 stars, nowhere near the nearly 5 star rating it currently garners. Some of the menu options were creative in concept, but execution was mediocre. Everything was edible, some things and everything was disappointing, somehow less than the sum of their parts. The "lobster" and "steak" maki was gummy rice wrapped in a thin slice of roast beef camouflaged with sauces. Did it have lobster? Who knows, who cares. I'm out $30 for something I would expect from a supermarket sushi to-go container. The ceviche was tired. The tuna tacos were underwhelming. If you eat here, stick to simple. The scallops, the lobster bisque, tuna blt, and the New England lobster rolls were better than the other things we tried. read more

This place really blew us away. The food was phenomenal! I highly recommend the crab cake appetizer and the tempura shrimp! For dinner I had the lobster maki roll and plantains on the side, it did not disappoint. The only thing that was a con was there was not a dessert menu and some of the guests in the party had a hard time understanding the menu. It was a lot of fancy literature to them. The ratings don't lie! Their cocktails are delicious and made with freshly squeezed fruit. I highly recommend the watermelon jalapeño margarita or the strawberry basil martini. Well, we dined here because Yelp says it's 4.5 stars. I unfortunately must disagree. The restaurant has a nice patio, the interior decor is nice, the staff are friendly, and the price of the food is reasonable... but the food was a let down. Multiple reviews mentioned how amazing their ceviche was, so I tried it. The fish and shrimp were fresh, but the mussels were kinda disgusting. My brother in law thought maybe they just didn't clean it out well enough. But regardless, it was the second most rancid tasting mussels I've ever had in my life. (The most rancid tasting mussels ever in my life were frozen pre-packaged mussels I bought on sale for 50% off from a supermarket in Ohio.) I also had their crab sliders, which tasted fresh, but wasn't particularly flavorful. I also could not discern whether the crab meat were freshly pulled or if they came from a can. My wife got the fried grouper sandwich, which was good. On hindsight I should have ordered that. I do have to give them credit for doing food a little differently, like the fried kernels of corn as a side dish. But overall, the flavor profile of this restaurant isn't quite in line with my preferences. Also, despite some other reviewers calling the food at this restaurant "chef driven", their macaroni and cheese kid's meal is literally Kraft mac & cheese straight out of the box. And they charge something like $7 for it. Come on. Overall, if you're looking for fresh seafood in Siesta Key, the Siesta Key Oyster Bar down the street is my preference. read more

One of our favorite places to dine when we are in siesta key. The food is always on point and fresh and the service is always great. Jenn was our waitress this time and she was fabtastic! She was down to earth, honest, funny and she knew how to take care of her customers. For a group of six, we had the ahi tuna tacos, ceviche, fried grouper sandwich, the billionaire burger, sweet potato fries, and the infamous lobster bisque. Everything was a huge hit!!! When people say it's the best lobster bisque you will ever have, don't roll your eyes because honestly, it is. I have had many a bowl in New England and it's usually just creamy broth. The Cottage's bisque has chunks of lobster in it. We always order the tuna tacos...every.single.visit. The have a front and back patio and while they're both a must as opposed to sitting indoors, the back patio is super cute! read more
