    Blurb about building

Interesting surroundings for this restaurant housed in an old newspaper office. Came for lunch and enjoyed the salad bar and soup choice. One trip only . Good toppings offered . Hearty, delicious soup which changes daily ( we had creamy chicken noodle). Self serve at salad bar but table service for soup and drinks. Would have liked either a bigger plate or an extra trip to salad bar!

This building has so much character and I felt like I was transported back to the 90s, in the best way. Our server, Andrea, was so attentive. She anticipated our needs before we could ask. She was very friendly and has been working there for over a decade. The Ruben, pesto grilled cheese, onion rings and salad were delicious. My aunt enjoyed her breakfast dish. They serve breakfast and lunch overlapping. Definitely recommend.

This place is AMAZING for breakfast/brunch. We received phenomenal service from the entire team. Aziyiaha greeted us warmly and seated us immediately in a beautiful and comfy booth, and Veronica made sure our waters were constantly filled and our table was clean. Holly walked us through the menu and told us her favorites. She recommended the Rancheros Rarebit, a burrito with scrambled eggs, and she advised we add jalapeño and bacon. One bite and my hubs said, "This should be on the menu." It was SOLID. We split an order of the biscuits and gravy, which was also delicious. I used the leftover gravy on my burrito; along with a healthy dose of Cholula, this was an epic breakfast. Delicious from start to finish, adorable atmosphere, but the staff is what set this place over the top. Don't miss The Courier Café!i

Absolutely lovely cafe. We love Renee and come every week. However, there have been some recent changes that have been very sad. What happened to the cream?? They switched from lovely carafes of fresh creamer to packs of half and half and it's not as good. And they've gotten rid of avocado!

However, there is one thing I can guarantee, this place is very family oriented. It isn't like the other bars. The other bars can be very crowded, and very weird. This is the perfect place to go to during the day and have a nice burger. Night time can be crowded sometimes, but never anything absurd. One thing that separates this bar from the others is that every single employee is family. It is extremely noticeable, and makes the business flow a bit more. This is definitely one of my favorite bars on campus, I tend to go to Joes more than any other bar on campus. Hoping this place stays great and I will look forward to coming back here after I graduate. Like I said at the beginning. Joes. It is not that bad. Long live Joes!!!! Signing off. Parker.

Apparently also has food but nothing was going on in the kitchen. The place is known for the big patio and gameday parties. Basic big time crowded hangout. It's especially crazy when school is in session. This place gets pretty quiet when it's not and is usually closed on breaks or whatever. Getting your drink on is the main thing about it. It's about $5 to get the cheapest mixers like whiskey mixed with whatever. Apparently has food. Fried appetizers like mozzarella sticks. Basic fried items. There's also a few burgers and chicken sandwiches. Of course they have to be open first. The last few times here there was nothing on the menu worth getting to be honest. Great place to get wasted to be certain. It's located on 5th Street at Green. The place gets pretty quiet in summer.

The ribs were *beyond amazing*. No joke. I know they serve other things, but do NOT miss the ribs. All of their sauces are GF so you don't have to worry about what you're eating. And for those of you craving carbs that aren't diet-restricted, the Cheddar Jalapeño Corn Bread was delish. Both were hot and sweet, my favorite type of sauce. The red cabbage coleslaw was delicious and plentiful. The green beans and tomatoes were awesome. I wish they had greens too , but no. I also tried the polish sausage because somebody on Yelp said it was secretly the best thing on the menu. It was very good, but I'd say the brisket was better. Lots of nice craft beers available - some local. The service was nice and friendly. Nicole was my bartender/server. I enjoyed hearing about her favorite menu items. As you'll see from my receipt, everything has an itemized cost, so the place is a little pricey. But still worth it to me.

We ordered two of their specialty cocktails, which took a little long to be delivered but subsequently were very good. Next we ordered the stuffed mushrooms, Halibut and filet medallions. Service was a little slow so we decided to just enjoy the time together. Our appetizer arrived and was outstanding. It was a bit of a wait for our entrees to appear and when they did we were disappointed with the wait. The filet was ordered medium well and arrived seared to almost well done other than the very center was cold and red. The halibut was overcooked as well but regardless I decided to enjoy the halibut because it was still palatable. The filet, on the other hand was not. It was tough and just not very good. I fully expected to spend the money on a fine dining experience but didn't feel that experience was met. We will try Baxter again in the future with hopes of a better experience but our history there has been hit and miss!

Bar tender seemed a bit overworked, vary harried and not super friendly, but reasonably fast. Ordered the gnocchi and filet tips. Started with the Baxter's salad. That was excellent! The gnocchi was promoted as 'crisp' which I found intriguing. Not crisp at all. Standard fair. Filet was okay, but not great. Mushroom sauce was great! Ambiance is that of a classic steak house. Nice place, will come back again to try the steak.

Alright, this one is for my late, older brother, Matt, who rolled his bones in NYC for the…read morelongest and was a restauranteur out there. This place is a gastropub that exceeds the expectations of any other restaurant concept of 217. Been here countless times and you walk in to this old diner energy and then your senses go on tilt from the smells and the look and if you aren't pulled in by that, something is seriously wrong with you cuz this place screams Manhattan 2000's when the culinary scene and celebrity chefs were on ! So super chill vibe with old 50's neon and the menu tonight and specials are beyond amazing! So let us begin... Give me a Chicago handshake to start.... Malort on tap and tall boys of Old Style that tells you the owner is Chicago all the way! This place was nothing like what was popping up in Chicago of the super late 90's and early 2000's with Trotters and Tramoto, been to both, battling the culinary scene and this newer guy, Grant Achatz, of Trio, comes onto the playground and changes everything... This place is special because it's what Keith McNally was successful with on restaurant concepts of this time in NYC and soon to follow nationwide. Menu specials shown and the Chef in command, Conner, definitely showcased his abilities o the end. Start with the morels and they were little bites of spring with the spritz of lemon balancing the bitterness of the garlic that makes you wanting to grab another! The salad and duck fat fries are next... Salad has a great vinaigrette that will cleanse your palate with the pickled red onions and some fresh greens. Duck fat fries: if you never experienced these, highly recommend. They will be the best French fries you ever tasted.... Anyone knows will tell you that Duck fat is a game changer. Then Conner brings out the main course- this 25oz strip steak aged for 45 days and at this point I'm transported back to David Burke and Jose Garcias restaurants that featured dry aged steaks: my kyptonite. Service by Aliyah was superb and this place never misses! Thank you for transporting me back to a memory of my late brother who completely opened my eyes to much more in the culinary world!
