A Must-Stop On the Way Home From AC!! We did a quick date (over)night at Harrah's this past weekend and wanted to get breakfast before heading home. The options in the hotel were underwhelming and overpriced. So we took to Google to find somewhere else that was on Route 30 where we could stop on the way to the GSP. The Cracked Egg Cafe came up on the map and even though it was little ways off Route 30, the photos were all drool-worthy so I showed my wife and away we went! We were pleasantly surprised at the charm of this small place. There are (currently) only three tables inside to eat at, but I imagine when the weather's nicer and there's no pandemic there are more and outdoor options. But we only waited a few minutes on this particular dreary Sunday morning. We were greeted by a very kind and pleasant server, whose name I did not catch, who made sure we (and everyone else inside) had everything we needed. My wife had the croissant sandwich and I had the full stack of french toast - both were OUTSTANDING!! Way better than anything mass-produced that we were gonna get at the casino. We both ate every last bite. The cook was also interacting with us customers from behind the counter where the grill is - making sure everyone was happy and well fed. And our entire meal cost just over $20 after tax - a total bargain!! Overall, the charm this little "off the beaten path" kind of place had was off the charts. We will absolutely be returning for breakfast (or maybe lunch) the next time we come down to AC! COVID Notes: As mentioned above, there are only three tables inside - each of which seats 4 - and no counter seating right now. It appeared that in nicer weather that they offer outdoor seating too, as the tables and chairs were folded up and stored outside. Decided to give this place another try and as you can see by my rating it was less impressive than the last time for a couple of reasons. I do have to say that the people working there are very nice, however it doesn't make up for everything else. Very ordinary breakfast menu with limited omelette and pancake selections and no Eggs Benedict. I ordered one of the specials on the board which was 2 eggs scrambled with cheese, potatoes (onions/peppers added) and toast. After thinking about it, the special cost more than a 3 egg omelette with cheese, potatoes, and toast. The eggs were cooked fine, nothing special. The potatoes were lackluster so I added hot sauce to try to make them better. The toast was fine. Not sure why they charged more for the special, but it was over priced. my girlfriend and i just finished eating and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! We sat right in front of the grill at the bar and the chef was very friendly and made conversation with us on how we wanted our food the whole time. My girlfriend and i shared a Belgian waffle and i ordered French toast along with the special my girlfriend ordered which was cream chipped beef. NEVER had better breakfast in my life!! The French toast was a perfect consistency, not too soft or hard. The Belgian waffle was perfectly cooked topped with their delicious home made syrup. Fruit was fresh, all plates and silverware were clean, and our server and all staff were incredibly hospitable. This is a must for anyone in the area who wants superb breakfast. 10/10 would recommend. read more

The fried egg was not fried hard and interrupted my peaceful digestion with an oozing mess towards the end. Thankfully I ate enough for it to be sufficient. The bacon's standard, flimsy bacon. No Maplewood thick-sliced cut. Decent flavor on the cheddar. Home fries were fresh cut Russet cubesbut were VERY non-descript, bland and had to be heavily seasoned. Belgian waffle's decent but FROZEN CHICKEN TENDERS DOES NOT MAKE FOR a "special request" Chicken and Waffles dish! *rolls eyes HARD at the insult* The Orange juice tastes like watery Tang, obviously, disgusting! Friendly, inviting staff, quaint and off the beaten path of AC bedlam but not for me. read more

This place is one of our favorites. It's really tiny with only 4 tables and a counter. It seems to be a favorite for locals, which we're not, but we come here every year when we're staying up the street. The staff is friendly and greets the locals by name. After reading a story about it in the paper my friend and i decided to give it a try. The place is very snug and cozy. The food was good. The service was not so good. The server looked completely disinterested in us for a good 10 minutes before deigning to take our order. This place not only offers the best breakfast but be prepared to be smothered with kindness and love when you are here. We come and eat every time we are in town while on business and they never let us down. I looked on yelp for good breakfast places and the good reviews led me to this place which did not disappoint. Looks like a little house when you drive by. When you go in you are instantly greeted by the wonderful employees. There was a lot of food to choose from. They have breakfast and lunch things on the menu. We ordered the waffles with a bowl of fruit and an egg cheese and bacon omelet which comes with toast and home fries. The food came quick and was very, very delicious! On top of all that it was inexpensive! Definitely a 10/10!!!! I would 100% recommend this place!!! read more

Found this little restaurant on Yelp while visiting my daughter at school. We always like to find a new place to eat lunch. It is located next to a small motel making us a little leery at first but it had great reviews so in we went. We were greeted by Mel (Melissa), one of the owners right away. It had a very local feel to it. It was a gorgeous day & there were 2 small tables outside so we asked if we could sit outside. She was more than happy to accommodate us. She immediately came outside with a couple of menus & started conversing with us. She is one of those people who make you feel like you've known her forever. Seems she used to be in the corporate world & decided this was what she really wanted to do, & she's damn good at it. My daughter ordered an omelet & I ordered the steak sandwich with fried onions. They both came out piping hot & tasted great. There was very popular restaurant right down the street with a long line out front. Prices are probably double of this quaint little place. This place is not at all fancy, but the food is solid & it's just the kind of place I love. I will definitely return & am thrilled it was reviewed here on Yelp, as I never would have tried it if not. read more

horrible service. don't understand how they are rated so well, The (2) chefs working though, AMAZING & the stars of this place. HOWEVER, the bagels, literally came out of a Thomas' bagel bag. You would think for a breakfast spot you would be able to get fresh bagels from many of the locations in NJ but you result to Thomas' bagel? If i knew this, I definitely would not of come here & just went to the Food Store to get myself a bag of bagels. Went there this morning. A little surprised was in front of a motel but was thrilled with the welcoming staff. I had an omelette and my girlfriend had an egg sandwich. I have heard of this place before, and it got great reviews on Yelp, and also the sign outside says it won some award for its breakfast in 2018. It's located in with the Tenacres motel; it looks like it may have been the motel's office at one point but I suppose they've since split off and started their own thing. The inside is quite small but it was a weekday and it wasn't very busy so it felt right. There's a bar-top where you can sit, or about 3 tables behind there. They have one TV playing at the bar-top. The service was excellent, they were very friendly and quick. The menu was quite small though. There was a good selection of omelettes, hash browns, meats, etc, but if you're looking for super fancy pancakes or waffles this wouldn't be my top choice. But if you are looking for a low-key place to get breakfast, this would be a great spot. read more

Heard about this place from friends and decided why not? It's pretty small. Let's start there, but the tables move quickly. There is bar seating, so thank goodness for that. Don't be alarmed by the outdoor decor. Reasons why I've avoided the cracked egg before. It's much nicer inside. To include the staff. Incredibly friendly. Almost like going over to a friend's for a meal. The portions were good. Not too much. Although I'm sure some of you would like more rather than less. Western omelet was good and I threw in peppers and onions into my home fries. (Delishhhh) and a Kids waffle that he really enjoyed. You can't go wrong here! It's breakfast. Always wanted to check this spot out for years. It's a little spot in a parking lot of a rundown motel and you'd pass it by if you didn't know about it. We stopped in and ordered some breakfast. Place is small and they cook your food right there in front of you. They have 3-4 tables and a few countertop seating. Our waitress was great. She was friendly and kept up on our coffee and checking in on us. Food was ok. It wasn't anything above average. Portion sizes was the same. We ordered 2 of the specials off the board and the omelette was thin and the bacon inside of it was rubbery. I ordered a side of scrapple and it was thin sliced and not real crispy. If you are a scrapple eater you will know what I mean... we upgraded one of the home fries to add peppers and onions but they came out without them. Our waitress quickly addressed it and realized it wasn't entered on our order no fault of the cook. But when it was corrected they just handed us a side of peppers and onions to dump on the home fries. This is a one and done for us. There are other breakfast/brunch spots in the area that have great food and location. read more

This place was amazing. My boyfriend & I sat at the counter & the chef made us feel so welcome. The servers were very nice & attentive. My bf ordered the waffle sandwich, , & I got the waffles w fruit, mozzarella sticks, & chicken tenders. Everything was really good. My BF keeps saying he will come back to AC just to eat there. I like that the chef directed us to an interesting little place down the road, Smithville Village, with interesting shops. My husband found this place on google maps and we decided to pop in. I always get excited when we try small local places! Right when we walked in it was crazy busy but the wait for two wasn't bad at all (10min-ish). Right away I noticed that the customer service was EXCELLENT!! Two very joyful ladies we're taking orders and servicing left and right... I will be completely honest my husband and I got simple plates that no place can get it wrong.. eggs, home fries, bacon and toast! We'll be back for more!! read more
