9 year old tearing down!!! Lol

Outstanding crab, shrimp, potatoes, and corn... don't waste your time on the calimarri or crawfish tho.... Good drinks as well. Expect $50 per person to eat good but you will be satisfied with the taste and quality...

Our first time trying this restaurant out and it was good. We went for lunch shortly after they opened & there were already quite a few customers inside. I'm not big on eating seafood away from a shoreline, but the boils were good. We ordered the combined snow crab and headless shrimp with corn and potatoes. I tried the Cajun and butter sauces mixed with a medium spice. I thoroughly enjoyed the "crab in a bag"! The spices at the bottom of the bag were great to dip all the seafood in. The one thing I'll NEVER get here again is the steamed oysters.. they were extremely salty and just not good. The service (our waitress) was pretty good, but not super friendly at the hostess stand.

This was our first visit and we weren't disappointed. I know a few folks have said pricey, but in this case I believe you get what you pay for. I had shrimp boil with add sausage. My sister had lobster boil. Her husband had something with king crab and shrimp. My husband had lobster and crab. It was a lot of food, and again well worth it. The garlic butter sauce is AMAZING! I couldn't finish mine; I was stuffed. None of us had a complaint. The server was also great and they provide Military discount (thank you!). They do only have three desserts; my husband had key lime pie (not sure where he put it), I took a bite and it was very good. We will definitely be back.

At the #craftycrab for my birthday. The food was amazing

My husband took me to the #craftycrab for my birthday Nov 18 2020. I didn't know what to expect. The hostess was very friendly. She led us into the dining room and all the tables were covered with a long sheet of heavy paper. Our waiterss was very helpful in explaining the specials. I don't eat spicy so I ordered our shrimp, crab and lobster boil mild. She starts to bring out our eating supplies which included gloves, bib, *you will have to wear) and silverware. I won't tell you how they bring it to your table but OMG the food was delicious!! I've been craving to go back a handful of times since our visit and today my girlfriend and I are meeting for lunch and I picked Crafty Crab.

First and foremost, this place is great! Their seafood boils are amazing and super filling. Their specials hit the spot and in their menu, there is something for everyone. Since it is Christmas, they decorated with a tree among other little decor throughout the restaurant and it looks great! Will be coming back(:

a half eaten crab with a bite taken out of it

Ordered a crawfish boil and bit into one of the eggs and a white liquid came out and the inside is green. I called to give them a chance to make it right and the "kitchen manager" said that's not possible because they make eggs every day. I even offered to send photos but they said the best they can do is give me 1.99 for the eggs. No way anyone should order seafood from here again.

a close up of a dish of food

My wife ordered the steamed oysters and scallops it came with no sides way over priced. One of the oysters was rotten unfortunately couldn't tell until she took a bite... That ended the meal. We told the waitress and was told there was nothing they could do asked for the manager. Apparently she was way to busy to come and speak with us nothing was taken off the price of her meal.

Shrimp and sweat potato fries Catfish and fries

Overall we've had good experience with the Crafty Crab in Carrollton but tonight is the exception. Most of our party's food was good as usual DO NOT order the fried oysters. Oysters are not supposed to be strong fishy tasting and they will not take back and only allow 50% discount. Top it off the server was about as bad as I've ever had. Spent most of her time on her phone seated in the first booth of the restaurant.

I sat there for 18 minutes and no one approached my table. The place had 3 other tables and was not busy at all. Ridiculous!

Poor customer service. The pound of crab legs was more like a half pound and it was over cooked.

I am extremely glad I did today and can't wait to come back again. I understand it is an oyster house, but it is in Carrollton which is not near a large body of water. That being said, I was extraordinarily surprised at how fresh and delicious the raw oysters were and I feel the price is quite fair. Today I enjoyed the Tulane Avenue Shrimp as my entrée from the appetizers menu. The shrimp were tender and I loved all of the flavor. The little crusty pieces of bread that came with it were perfect for soaking up the sauce. It was a very large appetizer. I also had a cup of the gumbo that came with some garlic bread. The gumbo for me was just OK. I enjoyed it and liked the flavor, but it felt more like a savory stew to me than a gumbo. The service was good and friendly. I completely understand the aesthetic inside; however, the wooden benches are not very comfortable. That's just a minor preference for me. Overall this place is a hidden gem.

The buffalo shrimp were excellent-plump and perfectly cooked, and the fries were great. My partner's burger came without the mayo listed on the menu, and the lettuce was wilted into the cheese. I ordered the "grouper" tempura, which was paper-thin, falling apart, very fishy, and extremely greasy. The breading was soggy halfway through the first filet. The bread service was also very strange- sweet rolls with herbed olive oil just didn't work together, and there was so much oil that it was difficult to get any of the herbs. Our waitress kept our drinks filled, but the service left a bad impression. We were seated near the kitchen and heard the cook call out that table 12 was ready. She was standing behind the bar talking and didn't immediately take the food out. When the cook said something to her, she responded, "Someone else can do it if I'm doing something." Not a great look, especially in a restaurant that wasn't very busy. The buffalo shrimp and fries earned the second star. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

They didn't have an open sign lit up and it appeared dark, but I had looked them up online and they were open (as of 11 a.m.). We parked in a public deck across the street. It had no gate infrastructure, so I assume it's free all the time. There is also street parking within a block or so. The restaurant itself is located about half a block north of the downtown square along a row of shops (records, etc.). The interior layout is booths along the left wall, tables in the middle, and a long bar down the right wall. There appeared to be a large brick pizza oven towards the back also. It was not overly busy when we were there, so there were only 2 servers handling tables and the bar. A few booths had patrons and there was 1 or 2 people at the bar. Service was good. The menu had a decent variety - salads, pastas, pizzas. I don't recall if there were other items. My wife got some sort of pasta dish that wasn't what she expected but she liked it. I also got a pasta dish - angel hair pomodoro. I thought this would be angel hair pasta with the 'pomodoro' in the form of a red sauce. The pasta was there, but the tomatoes were finely diced along with some onions and greens. It was different, but fine. I finished it. So don't be surprised with variants from 'standard' presentations, but the food is good. They appeared to have a full bar and a decent wine / beer selection, but we skipped that this time. We also skipped dessert. If I'm back in Carrolton, I'd consider stopping in again.
