This is one of few restaurants along Kamehameha Hwy and its relatively newly opened. The best parts: the food and the service. Drinks stayed full and our server was attentive when we needed him. The food was excellent and had a good range of variety. We've been to Laos and I have to say -- the sausage was spot on! Don't miss the lemongrass in there! The brisket tacos were also excellent and the portions were generous - super tasty. The kimbap was great, especially the touch of shizo leaf in there! The ambiance was nice -- but choose your seat carefully. I thought I was being smart choosing the bar and enjoying the view. The barstools don't move (bolted to the floor) and the tile on the bar makes it uncomfortable - so grab a table! We plan to go back and try more of the menu! read more

One word to summarize our experience would be disappointing. We had been considering trying the Crouching Lion for months and then decided to go for our anniversary. The location and view from the restaurant are amazing, but as for the food it is good, not great considering the price. The clams and focaccia were our favorite of the night, but the lamb was over cooked, mushrooms were cold when they arrived and the dumplings could have been bought at any local food truck for half the price and would have tasted better. Worst part was the service, not sure if they are currently understaffed, but our waitstaff did not check on us, did not know about the drinks on the menu and over all it felt like they were glad when we asked for the check. Unfortunately, will not be back, many other better places on Oahu for much less. read more

Long story short, bad experience and I've paid less for better. Short story long, just ate for Valentine's day dinner. It took over 20 minutes after being sat for someone to come by and bring us water after being passed by countless workers waiting on other people. Ordered drinks, sliders, sushi and a potato. The drinks were fine, the sliders were mid (Chilis is better), the sushi box was rice heavy and poorly assembled one of the rolls was a spicy salmon roll which had a SLIVER of salmon. The potato was nothing fancy, just cut poorly in quarters and had some salt thrown on it for $10. The waiter never came to check on us after other people were bringing out our food and we waited 20 minutes after eating til I had to flag the waiter down to pay. I know what you're thinking, "It's Valentine's day cut them slack it must have been insanely busy." It was not, there were plenty of empty tables and definitely didn't need a reservation to be seated. There were people who came in well after us who ordered and were eating before we even got waters to our table. And the food was just alright, i wouldn't pay for it again. Even if it had been slammed and they were rushing, the integrity of a restaurants food shouldn't change based on how busy they get ESPECIALLY if you charge over $100 for 3 sliders, a potato, and 16 pieces of sushi all of which was just alright. "Well you're paying for the views and the ambiance." Which i would agree, but we were sat at a table far from the live music at the corner of the restaurant near the exit, where people were wedging through our table to leave after eating. So we didn't even get that. All in all, I won't be going back. Save your time and money and go somewhere else especially since this place is out of the way to get to from most places. read more

We had a 8pm reservation and both the food and our waiter were very good and the restaurant is in a very scenic location. The overall service does need improvements. If you arrive near closing, make sure you do not sit next to the open air kitchen as they dumped water all over the kitchen which splashed on us as we were trying to enjoy our meal. We arrived here dusty and fabulous after a fabulous ATV tour at nearby Kualoa Ranch. We were graciously greeted and immediately shown a table. Our server Anthony was friendly and efficient. The focaccia was the best we've ever had - fluffy interior and light and crispy crust with black sesame seeds- do not skip this!! The sliders were also delicious and those two items would have been enough for the two of us. We also had a table near a window with a beautiful view of a full moon and its reflection in the water. The dining area is all outdoors so we were allowed to bring our dogs. The only downside is all the flies landing on the food. They do have those automatic things to try to keep flies away on the table. Food was pretty expensive. We got the crouching lion pasta that had scallops, shrimp & lobster was really good but also $80. The Uni pasta was tasteless and bland. Would not recommend. The curry had massive carrots not sure why it was so big. The focaccia bread was delicious and crunchy. We also got the larb which I haven't had before but it was really good it had a little kick to it and you put it in a lettuce like a wrap. The kimchee fried rice was okay. We also got ice cream but there was a mishap with their freezer so they only had vanilla and ube but 1/2 wanted the rocky road which they didn't have and the bill was already paid for, but the server gave an extra chocolate for the table for the mishap. They also give sparkling water and you have to ask for regular water. Our server was nice and helped our parents on how much to order. It was pretty perfect, but the curry wasn't a hit with the family. read more

It must be hella good if a bunch of townies are willing to make the drive to eat here! This place gets pretty packed so highly recommend to make a reservation or be prepared to wait. They have their own gravel lot but I'm not really sure where else you can park if it gets full. Note that the entrance is on the left side of the parking lot. If you come from the right side, be prepared to do the walk of shame as you cut through the restaurant to get to the hostess stand (oops) The place is pretty big and covered nicely if it rains (except the parking lot) Unfortunately because it was so busy, 95% of their meats were sold out! What a big bummer because that's what we wanted to order :( But I guess we just have to come on another day! Our faves throughout the night were the Uni Pasta, Wagyu Burger Sliders, and obvi the French Fries! The biggest let down was the Crispy Spicy Salmon Roll...the fish was fresh but concept of "crispy" was just the panko around it and what made it more odd was that the rice tasted mochi-like? We felt like we were eating sticky rice sushi... it makes me wonder if all their rolls have this rice texture. Definitely would not order this again but everything else -- 10/10 read more

While I'm appreciative to see someone has done something with this beautiful property after several years of sitting idle, it looks like a scene off of a British TV dating show. The randomness that doesn't fit, hand chairs to floral wall, it doesn't work. They have so many lights on at night, during Christmas it's worse, you can see the lights from a bit away and this close to the ocean I don't think that's appropriate with creatures that instinctively come to land when they see light. There's a tacky car museum in the back, seems more like a rich fella having somewhere to store his cars. What should have been done with this place was turn it all into a wedding venue. It's not right and doesn't fit the upscale quality it's going for. As a family of fine dining chefs, the food here ain't it. read more

Great menu choices and food was great. I didn't expect the type of choices they had but was pleasantly surprised. They have 3 types, seafood raw bar, food to share (tapas) and grilled foods. The vibe and view is great. The staff and service on point. I headed out there cause after the heavy rains and deviation I heard restaurants and businesses on the North Shore needed guests to return and support local businesses. It's the least I could do. Wow! Do to location won't be frequenting very often, but I love this spot. The food is amazing. The taste, presentation, and even the price isn't astronomical. Everything is very much shareable, so that allows you to try various dishes without getting to full. The ambiance is beautiful, the decor I love and want to celebrate a birthday here for sure. It over looks the ocean and at night it's just beautiful. The only down fall I had was the service, a bit slow with drinks and refilling water. We started at 7 and ended about 9(closing). Our server closed us out a little after 815 to go home, which I felt was a bit weird. After that we had to ask to get boxes and water. Sad thing about that is we weren't really finished. Didn't have the option for dessert or more drinks, felt a bit abrupt as I'm used to having a heads up of last call or similar. But other than that it was a great night! Crouching lion is for sure a staple for its hike and all the history behind the rock formation and how that area came about. However their restaurant I feel hold that same special effect and although it is on the upcoming with the new renovations and how they operate I must say it's not to shabby. Staff here are amazing, atmosphere is one of a kind as you came see the ocean on their lanai. Not to mention they do have live music from time to time. Their menu and ordering operates a bit different then many on island it is Ala Carte style and they do make this dishes to order I believe so do get comfy and enjoy everything this place has to offer once placing your order. They food is amazing for me I just felt things were a little to bland but all in all it was good. She asked if we had been here before which we told her it was as the first for us. She went over the layout of how the food comes out (family style), what they didn't have that night and where the restrooms were. We ordered our food which came out quickly. I liked that. Everything we ordered was amazing! Seafood pasta, lamb lollipops, salt & pepper pork belly, crab inside out sushi roll, and the Kona coffee crème brûlée. They even had live music. It sits atop a small hill that overlooks crystal-blue ocean waters (talk about a picturesque view primed for your phone's background wallpaper), and the cool breeze coming off the beach, softly caressing your face as you indulge, is the best. We had the Crunchy Spicy Ahi Rolls (ridiculously amazing) and their Bruschetta - which was prepared differently from any I've had before, and even more delicious than any of its brethren that have found themselves in my belly. And if you're looking to accompany your meal with a libation (because, honestly, why wouldn't you?), I recommend the Crouching Lion Macadamia Mai Tai. The waitress explained how the menu and food worked. It's family style and the dishes come out as soon they're done being prepared on the grill or from the kitchen.
