This was a cute little place tucked in between Bed Bath & Beyond and Staples. I liked seeing all the knick knacks and flyers around the store. A few places to sit around inside, but there are more tables outside if you don't want to feel cramped in. Rocky's Grinder was really good. Huge sandwich with fresh tasting ingredients. I loved it! It came with a tortellini salad, a deli pickle and a piece of taffy candy. I didn't really care for the tortellini salad because it was just plain bland. I also got the Wine Ice Cream because it sounded interesting. It was good, but wasn't anything fancy or special. Tasted like vanilla ice cream with bits of chocolate squares and raspberry. Crushed Grape is the best deli in a town full of sandwich shops. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, soups salads and even gourmet hot dogs! Their macaroni salad is so incredible and the dill just sends it over the top of greatness! I usually have the turkey sandwich with the works and a small macaroni salad. Today I tried the Farmer Market Salad and it was INCREDIBLE and packed full of fresh, delicious vegetables. The cold meal deal is my go to lunch when I provide lunch for business meetings and it's always a hit! In addition to the fresh and yummy food they make the best gift baskets money can buy. Our car club hosted their big, annual car show at the Embassy Suites over the weekend and Saturday we were looking for lunch. A friend suggested the "Deli just around the corner". So the five of us walked over. Among the extensive menu, they had a sandwich "special" named to match the theme of this years car show, very cool! The warm pastrami sandwich had cheese and cole slaw on it and came with a dill pickle spear and their macaroni salad. The mac salad had a fair amount of dill in it, which I liked! The sandwich was very good, especially for the price! I would definitely go back there again when I'm in the area! read more

Was treated very poorly while choosing a gift, turns out the person behind the counter who was so rude was the owner. Not a good way to conduct yourself in front of customers. Their wine products are sometimes unique but overpriced. Once sent a sandwich back when she handled cash then went to make the sandwich without washing her hands. When I explained why I wanted another the employee and the owner got all huffy and mumbled to one another while they hastily slapped together another one, not apologizing for their behavior. I'm not returning again, this kind of catty behavior has reared it's ugly head multiple times and it's just not worth it. read more

Small shop with great food- the deli manager really knows what she's doing. There is always an assortment of great pasta salads and the sandwiches are the best. Plus, while you're waiting you can check out the shop full of cute knick-knacks. They also get points for having a booth at the mid-state fair in July and August (hence the closing early sometimes during those weeks). read more

Aw man. I was really hoping this place would be open on my last visit to SLO, so I could feel like a kid again as I took my brown baggie outside to enjoy my yummy egg salad sandwich, pickle, and macaroni salad in the beautiful sunshine. And I was fairly certain they would be open, considering I called in and their message said "Open every day from whenever to whenever." And when I pulled up, the sandwich board was even standing up outside! But alas, they were closed for the day to take their employees to the Mid-State Fair. Which is cool and all, but minus half a star for not informing me of such sadness on their message. Minus another half a star for being pretty expensive, although the cuteness of the bagged lunch and all the little extras they give you (like the pickle and saltwater taffy) do sort of make up for that. Definitely one of my favorite deli's in SLO. We always come here when I visit and I almost always get the Hot Pastrami. It really stands out the most compared to the other sandwiches I've had. My only gripe is that I wish the sandwiches were bigger! I also tried their grape drink once. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be (and I'm a huge fan of grape drinks/sodas). The Crushed Grape is a class act. I ordered a local spice mix (SLO MIXX -yum!) but when the order arrived, it was less than the order amount. When I called, I was treated with real respect (kinda hard to find these days), and not only did they ship out the missing product the very same day, they included a little something 'extra'. This is such a hidden hole in the wall type deli. I tried their Hot Turkey Melt and their Tuscany Turkey Melt, and they were both delicious! Gretchen and her team at Crushed Grape do an incredible job creating gift baskets featuring SLO- and locally made food, wine, and gifts. They have many to choose from, with a variety of themes and price points. Wine can be added or omitted, depending on your recipients' preferences. You can also create your own custom gift basket, either by changing up the contents of a basket they offer, or creating a fully custom one by hand-selecting from the huge variety of products in the shop. They carry local products like Cal Poly cheese, Paso Almonds (aka crack :) ), several local beef jerkys, Linns preserves, local coffee, and so much more. Tons of great local wines, and fun gift items. You can just swing in and get a bottle of wine and a cute gift bag on the way to a party, find little treats for a kids birthday party, and unexpected gifts with a local flavor. This place is tucked away in a shopping center and the premise behind Crushed Grape is clever. Along with wine themed gifts and novelty items, they also have an extensive menu that includes salads, soups, sandwiches, hot dogs and deli items. I had the SLO dog which was another version of a Chicago Dog. It was pretty tasty but not cheap. The service is mellow and by that I mean slow. I've had better sandwiches. It was the turkey/swiss cheese with avocado sandwich, Thursday's special, and was really let down because they forgot to put the avocado in it. Because I took it to go, I didn't realize this until I brought the sandwich back home. Utter disappointment that they forgot such a key ingredient for their day's special. The small cup of cheddar broccoli soup was excellent, though. I also got an Island Fever, which is a mango/pineapple/banana smoothie. Not that great, way too much banana and not enough mango/pineapple. There's a point in a smoothie that has banana where it acquires a medicine-like taste, and this smoothie skated the line. Bottom line: Mediocre sandwiches and smoothies, good soup. I'll give this place another chance one day, but if you don't want your order to be messed up or your drink taste like medicine, there's bound to be plenty of other places to eat. read more

PASTRAMI SANDWICH... I love you. This place is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in SLO. Hidden in between Staples and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Sandwiches are little more expensive than normal but in my honest opinion worth it. I've only gotten pastrami sandwiches, it's too good to venture elsewhere. But I hear their Tuscan Turkey is good and their hot dogs aren't bad either. Most if not all the sandwiches come with a tiny portion of salad. The macaroni is my favorite. read more

I ordered the "Spectacular" gift basket on December 21st for a friend on the east coast. I was charged over $200 including shipping and was informed the basket may not make it by Christmas. It has yet to arrive. Upon inquiry I was provided a tracking number by the Crushed Grape staff. I discovered by myself that the basket was not prepared or shipped out until December 26th. I am so disappointed in the service I cannot in good conscience offer return business or refer to anyone else, hence the reason for the review, to warn others who order with expectations of delivery in a timely fashion. read more

i used to go here all the time i work right next door i would get the pasta salad sometimes a salad or soup and a sandwich until i had two really bad visits in a row. For some reason they always run out of tomatoes which is hard to understand being in the sandwich business but i go on, so the first time i went in and my sandwich was wrong (other then the missing tomato which i was not told about until i returned) the second time i had rotten lettuce in my salad and a dime sized slug. needless to say i have not returned in all fairness its been about 3 months so maybe they cleaned up their act. and when i went to show the girl at the counter my slug salad she was very nice and honestly felt bad. so pretty good service and good tasting food but poor execution and sanitation read more

One of my favorite sandwich shops in town... although there are so many! I'm writing this review for their food. When I go, I always get the Crushed Club, an amazing sandwich. They have Around 50 choices of food on their menu, great mac salad and tortellini salad, and I always find a taffy at the bottom of my sandwich bag. While you wait for your order, you can find some cute wine nicknacks in the shop. I really want to try their wine ice cream one of these times. read more

I generally get their hot pastrami which comes with a dill pickle and a little cup of macaroni salad. It is very tasty. The sandwiches aren't huge like at other places, but just right. Cute deli and wine gift shop tucked behind the Madonna Plaza shopping center near the Embassy Suites with plenty of parking just off El Mercado. Menu is extensive. They take your order on a brown bag (why waste paper, right?) and you can peruse the fun gifts while you wait for your sandwich to be made. I've ordered the California Veggie twice. It came on fresh whole wheat with carrots, cucs, avocado, tomatoes, sprouts, gourmet greens, cheddar and Swiss & mustard. It wasn't like other sandwich places that make a sandwich that was meant for deli meat and when you eat it, you think "is there something missing?" It came with a pickle slice & freshly made macaroni salad with a touch of dill. To my surprise, at the bottom of the bag was a little chocolate mint stick candy - bonus! read more
