THE RESTAURANT: Very clean! THE FOOD: The food is very authentic Cuban food, as far as we can tell. It was so good we came back a second time a day later for lunch!. We got a chicken empanada & a beef empanada. They were delicious! Then we got a guava pastry.which I think was a special treat! ! We also got the flan. It was perfect without being too eggy. For drinks, my husband had the Malta India & a Cuban Coffee. I hag a cafe con Lache. All three were great! THE SERVICE: Service here is always with a smile & fast!

We were walking around and wanted a lil snack, nothing crazy just a lil bite and this place perfectly fit the bill! In the hot case was empanadas, croquettas, churros, guava pastries, all kind of goodies! We tried the beef empanadas, churro, pressed ham and cheese.... yum! Every thing tasted good, it was just enough to get us to dinner time, daughter loved the churro. Ill have to try their cafe con leche next time :)

Brought home delicious beef empanadas, medianoche sandwich and churros!

I am not Cuban but lived in Tampa for 19 years and was spoiled with some of the best Cuban cuisine in FL! After moving to N FL , it was a struggle finding any authentic Spanish food! Thankfully a few years ago we came across The Cuban Cafe and Bakery in St. Augustine! As you walk through the quaint outdoor seating area, you are filled with the aroma of fresh Cuban coffee! Once inside the cozy cafe you are greeted with smiles and wonderful Spanish music. The sandwiches, bakery goods and empanadas are always wonderful!

We were in Florida and of course you want to get Cuban coffee. When we saw this place, we thought it was great. We went in for a Cuban coffee, and it truly was not the same. I haven't had enough Cuban coffee, but the ones that I had were very, very, very good and this one just taste like a normal latte. The store was nice. They had some tables outside the and inside and it's decorated all cute but just not enough for me to have another coffee here.

For your morning wake up @10am (open). I was going to have an empanada to compare it to the Columbia but after seeing cases of cheese empanadas sitting outside from a delivery that was left without anyone around @9am I decide on something that I can watch them make. I have had Cuban sandwiches in Miami and I have had Croquetas but I have never had the two put together. The Croqueta sandwich is just that and was delicious. Opens at 10am and the line out the door builds quickly.

Got the Iced caramel cafe con leche, it's the perfect mix of flavors! Delish! Also got the chicken empanada and croquette. Cute family place and would definitely be back!

This was a great stop by for a late lunch. The place is fairly simple in decor, but it certainly got the job done. As it was well after lunch, we were the only ones there and service was quick and efficient. I had a Cuba sandwich and an El Presidente beer which went well with the sandwich. The sandwich was better than average, but nothing to write home about. I'd stop in again if in need for a quick and good bite.

We were here for a drink after walking on St George street. The latte is actually very good. No green tea only black tea. They also serve food, pretty neat place!

Cute little cuban Cafe in the cut. It could easily be missed but is def worth the stop as the empanadas are to die for... they have a wide variety, including chicken, beef, and vegetable. They also serve a variety of coffee. Nice place to grab a snack before sight seeing.

Food was very good. Great amounts of meat on a perfectly cooked bread. We had one small issue and they fixed it immediately. Will be back.

Hubby and I had an errand to run down in the area on Tuesday and despite liking many other restaurants in the area, I suggested we give the Columbia another try after 6 months of staying away. Miserable failure! The ladies at the hostess stand were great in helping us with the new parking app but that's where the wheels came off. Sabrina took a bit to acknowledge us and was the slowest server I have ever had in my life. She disappeared for almost 30 minutes. We had empty drinks, no salad, my entree of soup came before the salad and appetizers and when we finally found another server to get her, she said the kitchen ticket system was broken. Two hours for a lunch meal of salad, an appetizer, a cup of soup and a sandwich. Thank goodness I stocked up on the sangria mix on my last visit as I think I'm done. They need to get the service and customer experience back to what the family has touted. I will say if you can get your food and service, it's authentic Cuban cuisine and the bread and salad alone are worth a visit.

The server did not immediately know but asked someone before that person went inside the kitchen to inquire. It has been over a week since being there but I recall the fresh'brewed Iced Tea had a subtle flavor to it. Server advised this is an Argentinian restaurant and the literature states it is a fire grilled restaurant. Some of the items, like The Trio (of meats) even come with a salad. I had the soup of the Day a spicy tomato soup as well as The Cuban sandwich. The meats on their Cuban included Chorizo sausage and out of this world pickles! Who knew pickles could be so good? Overall, my opinion is I missed mustard and real Cuban Bread being a part of this dish. My friend had "The Trio" but barely ate the salad it came with as "The Trio" portion is huge. I likr how this Argentinian themed restaurant utilizes the local St. Augustine datil pepper as a constant seasoning in 8ts soup and throughout other dishes for amazing flavor. Your taste buds will gain a memorable experience while dining overlooking the San Sebastian River. Another Asado Life is located at the Jackdonville, FL port I have read. I look forward to having the entire menu here. Desserts are also plentiful.

Servers were friendly, a bit on the "chill" side but honestly just giving off the "island vibe". One thing to note, there appears to be and "indoor' type dining area and then a more outside, screened in type area. We accidentally entered to outside area and sat there before realizing this. It was a pretty pleasant evening and they did engage the fans out there but if it's a warmer period you might opt for Inside Dining. We had draft beer, the amber lager made for Mango Mangoes, Tasty and cold! Here's what is surprising, the menu is pretty varied but it's not so complicated that you get exhausted looking at it. Just enough to give everyone a choice and we were all about it. I had the Chipotle Shrimp Tacos with seasoned fries as my side. Really good! I was worried the Chipotle treatment might be overwhelming the shrimp but it was pretty subtle and the shrimp came through. There are plenty of sauces and seasonings on the table if you want to amp up the experience! Others had the Daily special Reuben, which they thought was a pretty standard Reuben but VERY good and worth a return trip just for that. Restaurant was easy to find and close to our hotel, plenty of parking. When we walked up, the views were nice as it's on the water. Nice signage. We walked in and were able to get seated inside right away (it was raining out otherwise we would have sat outside) but they sat us at a window seat so that was nice. Our server came by soon after, was attentive and friendly the rest of the evening. Appetizers - We ordered the gator tail and calamari. That must have been THE most tender calamari I've ever had! The breading was also very good and light - and the pepper sauce they give with it... wow very good! The gator was also very tender and good! Entrees - I ordered the Butter Rum Scallops and my husband ordered the Shrimp & Grits. My first bite of my entree was heavenly... I REALLY enjoyed it. It was sooooo good. That butter rum was something else. Scallops were perfectly cooked. My husbands was very good too - great flavor!! The grits were perfect. Then we ordered a Key Lime Pie to go (way too stuffed to eat it there lol!) but when we had some later that night... probably our favorite key lime pie ever! The consistency of it was like jelly like and it was SUPER good! Overall - a 10/10 experience here! Bar was hopping, live music. It's giving outdoor tiki which we loved. Food was decent, on par with every other seafood restaurant in Florida. Our waitress was great. On to the negatives - the hostess stand and or management is disorganized. Came up at 8:20 and asked for a table of 4. We inquired about an over water tiki hut and were told they stop seating those at 8pm because it gets dark. That's fine. Was told a 45 min wait, we agreed to join the list through yelp. We asked for first available, indoor or outdoor. On the plus side, the wait ended up being closer to 30 mins. However, there were tons of free tables the entire time we waited. Tiki huts were empty. The whole inside only had 2 tables sat. We asked to see a menu while we waited and got an audible sigh and eye roll. When our table was called, the hostess called 4 other groups at the same exact time, leading to a lot of confusion. As we are sitting and eating (it's now 9:30) a couple walks in. They're led to a table on the patio and asks to go into a tiki hut instead, which they are promptly sat in after they clean it off. So we asked our waitress, what's the deal! She said oh just ask the hostess and they can put you on the list for those huts. So not sure what happened. Overall- ambience 8/10 Food 7/10 Service (waitress) 10/10 Management (hostess) 4/10 Not sure if we'll go back because of the disorganization, unnecessary wait times, and rude hostesses.
