Had the Midnight sandwich. It was very good and authentic. Need to staff up, but definitely has potential! Would check it out again in the future. Wanted to try the guava pastry, but they only had it with cheese which I'm not fond of....hope they increase their selection. read more

Greetings! I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a pastry through DoorDash, The pastry was in a brown paper bag, and the sandwich was wrapped in foil, and then they were both placed together in a plastic bag. When the food arrived, it was super hot, which was really nice! But when I opened the bag, the paper bag was totally saturated with grease, and then, when I went for my sandwich, the foil was totally saturated with grease as was the sandwich! I don't know if they brushed the bread with oil or butter, but it was swimming with grease to the point where I could not even pick up and hold onto the sandwich and all of the insides were falling out everywhere......... so because of the over the top amount of grease, it turned what could've been a great sandwich into a bad one imho. I am sure being here in the south people love fried food and grease so it might not be problematic to some, but definitely did not work for me. I tried to call the restaurant on several occasions, but they either do not have a phone or they are having issues with their phone. I always prefer to give somebody the benefit of the doubt rather than running, and putting a review online, but I wasn't left with a choice. Anyway,just my experience. read more

First time experiencing Cuban food and I must say I was impressed. We decided to take a trip down to St. Augustine for a Ghost tour but had no clue that it was the weekend for the lights....Traffic was crazy and the streets were crowded and it took a while to find parking. Upon finally finding a spot we realized that we had missed our meet time for the tour and decided to stay and enjoy the lights so the trip wasn't wasted. We settled on the Cuban Cafe and Bakery and they did not disappoint. The staff was very welcoming and friendly even though they were swamped with loads of orders. Some found time to make small talk and it was an overall great experience. I decided to get the (Medianoche) Midnight Sandwich and a beef empanada and an order of two churros. Everything was pretty delicious and I'd definitely take another trip here to try some of their other options. read more

I am so sorry to do this, but this was just pitiful for me. Maybe it is because I had really high expectations or the fact that I really looked forward to trying this "cuban" bakery, but I left highly disappointed. The Cuban sandwich was not of good quality at all whatsoever. For the price they are asking, there was nothing about their sandwich I was willing to pay. We also tried the empanadas, and they were quite dry. We also tried the sweet version - guava and cheese, and although it was the best thing that we ate from this store, it was still not enough to save the day. For a little over 8 bucks for a below average sandwich, I suggest for you to hoof it somewhere else and pay an extra buck for something that is actually decent. read more

For it's perfect location in the center of Saint Augustine (and awesome patio with music) the food leaves much to be desired. The quintessential Cuban Sandwich would be something you think is a "must have", but I can comfortably say it's a "DON'T have"! They use deli ingredients to make it and place no effort in advocating for the freshness and tradition the sandwich commands. Sliced pork is NOT a substitute for pernil. Coffee is good, but that's it. read more

I stopped at this place for a snack while walking around the historic district. I ordered a cafe con leche and a guava and cheese pastry which was good, but nothing special. They also had a few other pastries, sandwiches, and flan. Service was very slow. read more

While visiting Historic St. Augustine I found this tiny shop to be the authentic real and cheap deal. The empanadas were on par with what I've had at other small Cuban cafés and the papa tellena was outstanding. Everything on the menu is under $8 which is great giving the cost of this place. read more

A little over priced but expected for being in downtown St. Augustine. Café con leche is great though and the Cuban sandwich was amazing. Their ham croquetas (croquettes) are really good too. It's a little Cuban oasis placed in the middle of St. Augustine. The decor of the place is also great. It's simple but authentic. The outdoor patio area is great to sit in for people watching and enjoying a nice day. Overall definitely recommend, would be even happier if the prices were adjusted a little bit though. read more

I ordered a chicken empanada and a croquette here just to get something in my stomach before walking around Old Town for the day. A lot of their items are pre-made and sit under a heating rack until they are consumed. They have quite a few options to choose from and a lot of the items I don't believe are cooked to order. Our food was nothing special and was a little over-priced for the sizes. Being from Tampa, we are spoiled with Cuban food and while I wouldn't call myself an expert, this stuff just didn't match up. I don't know why reviews aren't higher for this place. Nothing fancy but the porch is great and the prices are fair. The Cuban sandwiches here are really good, the iced cafe con leche was perfect, plantains were delicious. The ham croquettes here were better than most I've had in Miami but I wasn't crazy about the empanadas. Everything else was delicious, no complaints. The guava pastries here are fresh and just the right amount of sweet. This is a really nice spot for some solid Cuban food or a coffee and pastry. Highly recommend. read more

So disappointed. I'm Cuban so maybe my standards were a little too high? The service sucked and the food wasn't great. Party of 4 ordered four croquettes, a steak sandwich, and we had 3 media noches and two cafe con leches. I asked the lady for a strong cafe con leche and she looked at me like I had 6 heads. I then reiterated with two extra shots of espresso and she ROLLED HER EYES. I should have left right there. Our food was cold. Like they made it and then left it sitting there for about 10 minutes. Amazing! Ate so fast didn't take pics. The ham croquettas were like my grandmothers. I've searched high and low and haven't found a place until now. Visiting with my family who is of Cuban descent. I'm very used to and acquainted with Cuban cuisine, and I can confidently say this place is a must visit if you're in St. Augustine and you love Cuban cuisine and coffee. Get the pan con bistec (steak sandwich) on Cuban bread and a cafe con leche. You won't regret it. Coming back in a few months when I'm on vacation again! read more

The small family-owned Cafe has counter service and is located right downtown in the heart of historic st. Augustine! it has a casual quick-service atmosphere but clean and comfortable with items on the menu such as yuca rellena, ham croquetas, Cuban sandwich and medianoche sandwiches all are pretty good. I will admit that I've had a better Cuban sandwich somewhere else but really it was enjoyable my favorite item was the Yuca rellena! Service is not super quick but that's fine also they don't have any fountain drinks only cans or bottles and iced tea. There is also outdoor seating in the small courtyard where you can have a great view of all the tourists walking past the Columbia Restaurant. On a side note I did notice that a lot of the negative reviews were all people who said they were from Miami which makes sense because if you're from Miami you probably have a lot of experience with good Cuban food! But too bad this is not Miami! this is North Florida... lol read more

Nice little restaurant with authentic tasting food for reasonable price. Cuban sandwich - good Sweet plantains - amazing Pineapple soda - yum! Wife loved the atmosphere and said she would have given it a 5. Menu is pretty sparse though. 8 sandwiches with mostly the same ingredients and a handful of sides and deserts. Good cuban sandwich and sweet plantains. Nothing amazing, but it was a nice casual meal for about $15 a person and a welcome break from the usual American fare. You'll order at the counter, and your food will be brought out to you. That works fine for me, but don't expect a full service restaurant. Our first choice nearby restaurant had a 45 minute wait, while the Cuban Bakery was completely empty, so it's a good bet during busy times. read more

Not a lot of choices for dessert and we had already eaten lunch. They don't normally sell Cuban bread and that was disappointing. Location is a little off St George street so I can see this place missing out on a lot of foot traffic. Excellent experience! I stopped in for a cafe con leche and decided to order a Cuban sandwich as well. My daughter had the steak sandwich and both were absolutely delicious. We also tried the colada which I wasn't sure what that even was. It's sweetened black coffee. They give you a few super small cups and I read it's for sharing. Anyway, it was very good but I prefer coffee with milk. The quality of the coffee is excellent! read more

There was already the nutty flavor from the sesame seeds and adding the pistachio milk gave another boost to this that I thoroughly enjoyed. Perfect amount of sweetness. Did not need anything extra added. It does make for a pricey cup of coffee but worth it for specialty drinks like this. There are health benefits to the black sesame too. Very cool, relaxing vibe here that is not pretentious. There are other Japanese coffee items on the menu which I can't wait to come back to try. The barista was super friendly and knows his stuff when asked about items on the menu. I should've asked if the haku-san cold brew was ice brewed (Kyoto style). Will have to ask next time. I also grabbed a pumpkin muffin and chocolate chip pistachio cookie. Both were delicious. This place serves tapas style food as well that we'll hopefully get a chance to sit down and try out one of these days.

The atmosphere was welcoming, the drinks were thoughtfully crafted, and you can tell a lot of creativity goes into everything they do. It's average. If you have money to blow, then the cuban sandwich is the best I've ever had, but it's much smaller than the pictures indicate. I am only 115 pounds and eat the least out of everyone I know, and it would take two of the sandwiches to fill me up. Or at least some fries on the side. It's delicious, seriously. I would love to know what mustard they use on the medianoche, but for $9, I was a bit disappointed, especially since there's no water fountain and you have to pay $1.50 for a measly bottle of water. I can get six bottles of water for a buck at the Dollar Tree so... I don't know. I feel so weird complaining about portion size because when people complain about it they're usually just expecting heaps of food, but in this case, I really think it's okay to say it was small. The bread is just too thin. That's what makes the sandwich so tasty, but also what makes it so light, so it's a blessing and a curse. To sum up: If you're looking for the best cuban sandwich you've had, come here. But bring a snack from home to fill up later. And don't come here with a group; it can sit 15 max. read more
