Even keeping it low key with some Empanadas my first time last year, seems like there's a different cook now because flavors that are being touted as Cuban, were really missing this time and came across as South American at this stylish Cuban spot in Tarrytown. Nothing against South American flavors- but if I wanted those type of flavors, I know where to go and if I want to eat Cuban food, then I'm expecting a combination of those African flavors mixed with Spanish ones that should be more pronounced in Cuban cooking- but are missing here. My husband recently settled on Cube Inn for their pork. Tender it was, rice isn't a typical grain- but was edible and black beans- well..... Service from our waitress was weak. Tried The Cube Inn for first time on Sunday was looking for something savory and different as we are being over saturated with Asian & Mexican Cuisine which I love btw but wanted something closer to home as I am Dominican & Cuban American. Anyway, place was super cute and inviting, staff was lukewarm! Our drinks were super delicious I had the spicy guava margarita and my cousin whom I invited to lunch had the spicy classic margarita. We didn't have apps as it was 2p and we were starving, I had the steak sandwich and she had the Cuban (I don't eat pork, I know, how? lol) mine I ordered with Yucca fires which were super delicious not greasy and the perfect crunch. She had Tostones with her sandwich which also were cooked perfect and not greasy or gummy (under cooked) we asked for some kind of garlic mojo or a dip for both the yucca fries and tostones. We got a garlic aioli although I would have like a lot more garlic, was super yummy on everything and the mojo well I will definitely never ask for that again as it tasted like a marinade for chicken. Was bitter and heavy orange flavor and not bitter orange but like orange orange. My steak sandwich could have used some garlic butter on the inside of the bread but overall I give it a 7/10 because I got some fatty pieces which weren't fun to discover as I took a bite of my sandwich. My cousin gave her Cuban a 6/10 also because she felt the break needed garlic butter inside and out & pork was a bit dry. Overall experience was 7/10 because besides the small things with our food we loved that we sat for about 2.5/3 hours and weren't rushed out. May give it another chance with dinner next. George was a rockstar! He somehow handled the bar, waiter for the floor and high energy host! It was a busy Wednesday night which shows the place must be good to fill up on a random hump day night. There was a lot to do for just two staff so there was little longer than number wait time for certain things (I asked for the check three times) but otherwise the experience and food made up for it!! read more

Cool little spot with Cuban/Caribbean food. You know I had to go with the Cuban Sandwich. Unfortunately It was below average in taste and not nearly enough roasted pork, pickles etc. I did order the ham croquettes and they were fine. I find way better Cuban Sandwiches in almost any spot in NYC. Service was fine no complaints but on a hot day they keep the door open so it gets warm inside. read more

The food was good. We sat outside (which these days we always try to do). If you follow me at all, you know we like any kind of Spanish/Latin cuisine but we judge it pretty hard (having a great Cuban cook in the family). The food was really good. I had the "Flying Saucer"... and I'm not sure if that's really a Cuban thing, but it was enjoyable. My husband had the Ropa Vieja and he really liked it. He had black beans which were really tasty and a side salad. My biggest criticism was the service. The waitress was very nice but she seemed to forget about us after our meal. The food came out very slow. Also, the guy who brought us the check disappeared with our credit card for too long. I had to actually go ask what was going on it took so long. Came here for dinner on a Tuesday. We were able to get right in-- table for 4. Covid compliant, masks required. The decor follows the theme, same with the music-- all very welcoming. The menu has a good variety of appetizers, plates and drinks (specialty drinks too). We got the empanadas (which had barley any filling in them), the ceviche (maybe half of the martini glass it came in was filled with the portion they gave us-- NOT $16 worth), shrimp croquet shrimp (good portion but, a little neutral in flavor), pork sandwich with fries (good flavors and nice portions). They do have some very tasty sauces for dipping that they make in house. All in all, the ambiance was great but, the food was overpriced and the portions were very small. read more

I visited during the Tarrytown restaurant week promotion. I got a classic cuban with fries and drink and it was delicious! I highly recommend trying their cuban. Came here for a birthday dinner with my family. The ambience was really nice, fast service and the food was very flavorful. I got the chicken breast plate which was flavorful and big portions, chicken, cheese and guava empanadas which were nicely fried. My favorite was the chicken. The croquetas were also delicious. My honest review would be a 3.5. It's a nice little spot of Main Street located in sleepy hallow. The staff was friendly and the locations decor is kind of cool. The food was good but rather small for the price. That was my only gripe. I expected the sandwich and empanadas to be larger. If I go back it would be for happy hour which contains much better deals (cubano and drink for 20 as opposed to 28). The Cube Inn is just one of those places that you HAVE to go to. The food is amazing, the place is clean, the ambience is beautiful and above all, the customer service is just wonderful. My husband and I met the owner (Megan) and she was such a delight to talk to. Super accommodating, kind and helpful. And the staff goes above and beyond for everyone's needs. We were excited to try as the menu looked great. I order the veggie paella which was disappointing to put it nicely. It was yellow rice with cauliflower and artichokes (weird combo) with tons of olives. The other entree was ropa vieja which tasted pretty good other than it was served room temperature. The drinks looks pretty but did not seem to have any alcohol. The oddest part of the whole experience was that the food was served by a man holding a baby. The staff was more concerned with this beautiful baby than the customers. We will not return. read more

I came with my sister here because the places look promising, is located on Main Street in Tarrytown, so you already know that the parking is going to be quite difficult. The place is a very cute spot, with beautiful decoration; a nice bar the restaurant has a few tables outdoor with heater and indoor. The menus have a good selection of Cuban dishes authentic. For my food selection, I had the Steak Sandwich a sliced prime rib marinated in mojo sauce with sautéed onions and Swiss or American served on Cuban bread with a side of French fries. The Steak Sandwich was cook medium, super tender, very juicy, and super delicious the flavor just was great, did not look that big but was very fulfilling. I've been trying to dine here, for a while, and finally got the opportunity. This restaurant is ALWAYS busy, especially when we visit the Sleepy Hollow area, during the Halloween time frame. The restaurant is not large, but they have outdoor seating and beautiful decor. Even the bathrooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Our server, Kate, was exceptional. She kept us very comfortable throughout the meal and always had a genuine smile. The Bongo Bowl, with chicken, was delicious. The chicken was placed on a bed of greens and drizzled with an avocado cream dressing. Each bite was full of flavor and every ingredient made it very enjoyable. The side of tostones was delicious. The tostones were not dry and the mojo dipping sauce was full of spices and savory. I highly recommend this eatery and now I know why it always has a waiting list. The tables are very close so it always feels a little packed, the music isn't too loud so you can have a normal conversation and the decor is dated but nice, a mini Cuba feel, kinda. Service: 4 out of 10 Food taste: 10 out of 10 Price: $$ SERVICE: 6:45 We sat down. 7:00 we ordered appetizers and drinks. 7:10 ordered dinner. 7:26 dinner came out, and there were no apps. They were sent to the wrong table. 7:33 the apps came out. 7:40 asked for the check and to go containers. 7:54 asked for the check again, the waitress forgot. 8:07 finally left. We had to chase down the waitress to get a refill for one drink, never asked how we were doing, got no other refills, looked right past us most of the time and seemed to be the only one working. Understandable when you're busy, but there's 10 tables or so inside, hard to miss a group of four. FOOD: We ordered 5 empanadas for appetizers. They're $3.50 each and they have 5 different flavors. We ordered 2 beef, 2 shrimp and 1 chicken. Good flavor, decently filled and a nice crispy and flaky crust. I ordered a steak sandwich $19, and added fries for $3. The meat was well seasoned and an okay amount on the bread but I would have liked a bit more of it. The bread was lightly toasted and was a little bland. The fries were the star of the meal, they were absolutely delicious and really well seasoned. My wife got the Ropa Vieja $28 with yellow rice, black beans and maduras. She loved it. It was well seasoned, the right consistency and a good balance of all the flavors you'd expect. Looked nice too! One of my daughters got the Pollo Ajillo $26, which is chicken in a garlic sauce and while she said it was okay, I really liked it. It was a "little" salty but it worked well. The flavors were vibrant and in your face and not overwhelming. Would order to go before sitting down and eating again. Food was definitely worth it though the service was really lacking. read more

Adorable new restaurant on Main Street. We did the weekend outdoor dining that Tarrytown offers by shutting down Main Street so that you can dine al fresco. All of the tables were properly social distanced and the staff was all very friendly and wearing masks. We got the Cuban and it was amazing. The sandwiches are huge and come with fries which is reasonably priced. I also had a lovey Spanish red wine (I didn't get the name but it was the closest to a Pinot noir) and they had a good selection of signature drinks. They aren't doing take out or delivery yet but it's coming soon and we will for sure be back for another weekend on the street. read more

First time at The Cube Inn without any reservations, we were seated right away. The decor made you feel like you were in Cuba all along. Started with their classic mojito that was mixed well with rum, mint, and their secret touch. After reviewing food menu, appetizers that caught our attention were the empanas de carne and shrimp along with some tostones con mojo. For my main course, I went for the skirt steak and scrambled eggs from the brunch menu. While we waited for our food, our Cuban coffee arrived. The richness taste and smell of coffee fulfilled my caffeine craving, delicious. Appetizers arrived, both the beef & shrimp empanadas were delicious. You can taste the ingredients so well along with the tostones con mojo, great choice. Main course came out shortly, and I enjoyed every bite of my skirt steak, home fries with scrambled eggs. Lastly the flan was made just right, not too sweet or falling apart. Coconut mojito had me back in the Caribbean, perfect for a cold winter day in Tarrytown. Finely opened after six to nine month wait. We were informed that the opening was on Wednesday 8/5 at 11:00 we arrived at 11:00 for lunch and were told otherwise, opening at 17:00 for take out & dine in. Came back on Thursday 8/6 for dinner had a 30 min wait for table. Dinner was dine in only, no take out & no wine, only mixed cocktails. Indoor/outdoor seating was appropriately socially distanced. The tables are sanitized between seatings. The staff are very enthusiastic local youngster, you may need to be patient. The menu is limited. We ordered Empanadas - 2 beef, 1 Shrimp, EL Cubano, Mojo Pork & Ropa Vieja. The Empanadas were moist, well seasoned and tasty. I liked the dough. Shrimp also very tasty & cooke properly, they were not shoe leather tough, moist & juicy. My El Cubano was delicious, properly made. It's decent sized sandwich. I ate only half. Never got to taste the Mojo Pork or Ropa Vieja. My sons devoured before I new it. We had the empanadas- beef, chicken, and shrimp- all were delicious, I can't decide which I like best. I need to go back and try the guava cheese one. We also had the Pan Con Lechon/Pork Sandwich and it was great. The pork is perfectly marinated and has a tasty garlic mojo on yummy Cuban bread with savory fries. They have a full bar with a wonderful bartender. He is friendly and so attentive...he makes awesome Mojitos! I had the Flamingo Mojito which is a blend of Silver rum, strawberries, mint, Club soda, and jalapeño. It was refreshing with great flavor. This place is AMAZING! We were visiting Sleepy Hollow from MA and were pleasantly surprised by this place. The food is SO SO good! We started with beef empanadas and they were hands down the best empanadas I've ever had. The "crust" was so flaky and the filling was insane. I ordered the mojo pork for my entree, again AMAZING! The cocktails were great and the staff were attentive and friendly. The owner was there the night we went and told us about a few tourist attractions we had to see and even gave us a map of the town. My friend and I were excited to try some Cuban Food in Tarrytown and The Cube Inn was conveniently located on Main Street but was disappointing overall. I split a Frita Cubana sandwich with my friend. Don't mistake her smile this was before we tasted it. The sandwich was dry and no amount of condiments could save it. To give it a trying chance we sat and ate our meal in silence trying not to comment on it, shaking our heads and only remarking "salty". It was indeed very salty. The fries were not your typical fries and loved restaurant fries but rather a hybrid between normal and the texture and taste of curly fries only adding to the saltiness of the meal. The maduros were kind of tart but ok overall. We came before the dinner rush and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant sitting at the bar. Our server was very attentive to us and we were seated right away and given our drinks fairly quickly but our food took a very long time to come out. While we were waiting other people had started coming in and had gotten their food ahead of ours. It was a disappointingly long wait time for subpar food. What brought me to The Cube Inn: Social Media Great job - not reflective of my experience. Perhaps the fact that they named it CUBE INN and not CUBAN makes sense now. Calling it a Cuban restaurant is a mistake. Nothing about this felt like a Cuban spot worth making the trip for (we drove from NYC). Why: This was a Saturday night at 8pm and the vibe (country and rock playing) with decor that's very confusing, the service (lax/ unwelcoming/ slow to the punch). The food: served at room temperature, rice tastes like minute rice and the ropa vieja is just not right (very tough to chew and just not enjoyable), you failed the smell test. And by that I mean the taste test. The seating for 2 was limited and the chairs were very uncomfortable. The bartenders took 8 min (I timed it) to even look at us and the drinks we meh... How can you improve: I really want all businesses, especially in a small town like this to succeed. 1) SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE 2) Atmosphere was confusing - felt more like an INN for real. Step it up with the vibe. 3) Food and Drinks- charging pretty steep prices for a very tough ropa vieja and skimpy/sad "tapas." The flavor (sabor) of the ropa vieja was a 6/10 yet the texture (toughness) made it overall was a 2. The experience, service, vibe, food, overall gives this spot hard 3/10. Maybe you bank on brunch bc dinner was nothing to be desired. will give this spot another shot in 1 month for brunch and see how it goes. The pork wings are not to be missed. Tender and perfectly cooked. The chicken wings are tasty and crunchy and one of the best I've had. Our server/bartender "Ali" was on top of everything. She made a fantastic drink called the Spicy Mezcalita which is now my new favorite. Crazy good! Warm and very friendly staff. Great simple menu with nice options. Saturday afternoon about 2:00. Table of 3. We were immediately greeted & seated. Owner on premises and so nice. Cuban sandwich= yum! Burger cooked precisely. Sweet potato fries Flying Saucer sandwich- satisfying. There's a salad with pineapple worth a look. I liked it & I'm not a salad fan. I strongly recommend the key lime pie AND key lime cake.
