The newly-opened Cube Inn brings a fresh perspective to Main Street's restaurant scene with delicious Cuban food. As with any new restaurant, there are still a few hiccups to be worked out, but this is already a must-try spot that has tremendous potential. It's perfect either for a full meal or enjoying a few cocktails over small plates. Service was friendly and quick from start to finish for drinks and food alike. We chose to eat outside, and appreciated that they took their COVID precautions seriously: tables were properly spaced, a plastic screen shielded us from pedestrians on the adjacent sidewalk (and them from us), and servers were always masked. I only got a glance at the beautifully decorated bar and dining room, so we'll have to save that space for a more pleasant time. We started with one of their specialty mojitos - the centerpiece of their bar menu - and a Bacardi and Coke (Cuba libre). Both were well-made and fairly priced ($14 for the mojito and $10 for the well drink). Mojitos can be fairly labor intensive to mix, and I was surprised to see five of them on their menu. But they came out right quick, so whatever they are doing behind the bar is working. We also ordered maduros ($5) and empanadas ($7 for 2). The maduros, fried sweet plantains, were some of the best we've ever had anywhere - including in Puerto Rico. They were ripe, beautifully fried, and well seasoned. The shrimp and beef fillings in the empanadas were super flavorful, and the exterior of the shell was textbook golden brown. The interior of the dough was just underdone, suggesting perhaps that the oil had gotten a bit too warm, but the overall dish was still quite pleasing. If we hadn't already ordered our mains, the drinks and starters were so good that we probably would have worked our way right down the appetizer menu. Another time. We ordered sandwiches for our main course: the pork sandwich ($14) and the flying saucer ($7). The pulled pork was flavorful, and the garlic mojo sauce was on point. The flying saucer - a grilled ham and swiss - also was good, but it would have been even better with a bit more (and more fully melted) cheese. The fries that came with both sandwiches were crispy but significantly over-seasoned (even for french fries), and could have used a dipping sauce. Bottom line: two strong and well-priced dishes. Dessert included a hit, and the only real miss of the meal. The key lime pie ($6) was rich and delicious with a sweet graham crust. The portion of homemade flan, however, was approximately the size of a jewelry box. If it was the most sublime flan ever created, then I might have seen the value of a $6 dessert, but regrettably it was overdone. Finally, the reason we ended up dining in at the Cube Inn: the takeout menu. The takeout menu is posted prominently on their website (along with the phone number) and on the side of their building. All of this left me puzzled and annoyed when I called to order, only to be told that they are not yet offering takeout. I see the wisdom in this cautious strategy: we've been to many a new restaurant that struggles to get plates out quickly, and as dine-in customers we certainly noticed and appreciated getting our food and drink with truly remarkable speed. It's also a beautiful restaurant, and we're so glad we ended up enjoying a date on Main Street. All that said, please don't advertise a service you aren't offering. We were so impressed with Cube Inn, we were glad to see it busy on a weeknight, and we will be back soon. You can't get this kind of food anywhere else in Tarrytown, and we haven't been this excited about a new local restaurant in quite a while. Any nitpicking is just that -- minor and easily-remedied criticisms of fundamentally delicious food. We can't wait to explore more of the menu, not to mention the mojitos. read more

We came to the Cube Inn on a Sunday afternoon for dinner. We were surprised they don't currently do take out so we opted to dine outside. The interior was very hip with beautiful leafy wallpaper, exposed lightbulbs and an overall industrial look so I'll definitely be back to dine inside when it gets too cold to stay outside. We heard a lot of hype from friends so we were excited to try a couple of different items on the menu. They have a pretty technological advanced system where the menus are online but I snagged a photo of the menu they have hanging outside their restaurant. I'm not sure if it includes all the dishes available on their online menu as we saw enticing entrees decorated meat and rice so definitely want to try those when we come back. We ordered 2 empanadas (shrimp and guava/cheese), the el Cubano and the steak sandwich. The sandwiches include a side of fries so we ordered on regular and one fried yuca as a substitute. The empanadas were delicious and I would love to try out all the flavors one day. The guava/cheese was a lightly sweet surprise. The outer shell was flakey and delicious on both. I'd order the 3/9 next time! Bundle those deals. I got the cubano and it was a solid sandwich. I would have liked a more powerful kick to my mustard but the but the panini was delicious. The steak sandwich was lackluster. The steak was very under seasoned. The fries were good but we got 6 pieces of yuca which felt so little compared to the mountain of fries we got. Overall solid addition to tarrytown. I would rate it 3.5/5 bumped up to 4 for its newness. I hope they eventually get a take out system figured out as well as any recipe kinks such as the steak sandwich. Service was very attentive and kind throughout the meal. Cute little restaurant with a bar. Quite loud but cute. We had some empanadas to start and mojo-marinaded masitas de puerco (pork chunks). The beef empanada was better than the chicken which probably means their picadillo is awesome. The pork was good although with the mojo it was more citric than how I prefer it. The ropa vieja was decent but not as flavorful as my family makes it, but it was nice to have. I probably should have gone for the picadillo based on the appetizer's tease of its flavors but oh well. The inlaws enjoyed their cuban sandwich and fries. The cuban coffee was disappointing. They didn't add the sugar while making it so no "espumita". It was just espresso and you add your own white sugar. For Cuban standards, this was a blasphemy. How this place has a 4.2 star rating is beyond me. We went here on Sunday 8/6/23 at around 6:30pm. Let me start off by saying that I am Cuban and I was very excited to try this place since it had such good reviews. Well let's just say that this place not only has horrible overpriced food with horrible service. I am assuming that the people that have enjoyed the food here have zero tastebuds. The croquettes had no flavor, rope vieja was chewy and tasteless and the rice tasted like rice a ronii. The Cube-Inn is a warm, cute sit-down spot in Tarrytown with awesome Cuban sandwiches and specialty cocktails. I came with friends on a Thursday evening, and we were seated after a brief wait. What brings me back is the crispy Cuban bread on their sandwiches, which complements the meat, and the portion size! You could easily save a half of a sandwich for another meal depending on how hungry you are, and all of the sandwiches come with a side of fries. Food is good. Was one of my favorite places- until a hostess refused to let me sit by the window- 4 seats- for clarification- the place was pretty empty- just one couple. Reserving a seat when then the whole place is empty is silly. My toddler doesn't reach the bar or the tables with really high chairs. It was just us that day- usually we are a party of 4. Went on a quiet summer weeknight. Staff went out of their way to make an additional table outdoors available for us as we are not currently choosing to dine indoors. Our waitress was particularly friendly, helpful, and charming even though our table (being around the corner from the entrance) added to her responsibilities. Being in Tarrytown for 8 years, I gotta say this is a great addition. First, the drinks. They have amazing original mojitos but also a Full bar with a wide variety of liquor to choose from. For the food, appetizers we've tried so far are the shrimp fritters, all the empanadas, ceviche, and wings. All amazing with the ceviche and chicken empanadas being my favorite. For main entree, the Cubano is delicious but I love the ropa vieja with maduros. Also they have camarones al aji which are a surprise off the menu. The table we sat at was on an such an incline that we thought we'd slide into our mojitos. And speaking of drinks, ours were so tart that they were undrinkable. And we wondered if we were mistakenly given the virgin version. The pork mojo was really salty. And this is from someone who is heavy handed with the shaker. I was here spending my time off from work with family and enjoying the drinks provided there. Despite the selection of flavors of mojitos, I felt I was discriminated against by the current attending bartender, Jose. I had to take a very serious call outside to not disturb the clientele and was immediately denied service when I returned. I had not even finished half of my first drink and asked why I was denied service. Jose mentioned that my gait was "funny" when I took my phone call outside. I admit, I do walk with a certain tick because of previous injuries, but I definitely was not heavily intoxicated. Ate here for the first time today and had a great experience. Had a mojito flight which was really cool (classic, coconut, mango, strawberry). All were good but the coconut was the highlight for me. My wife thought the mango was the best. Also had some tapas- tostones with beef were excellent, and the empanadas (shrimp, chicken, and guava cheese) were also great. I just have to break this review down in parts. Drink: I ordered a margarita and it was so sour that I sent it back . The gentlemen who was the bartender came over and I suggested that maybe his lemon juice wasn't correct and he explained that it was mix and he could add more tequila! NEEDED A BETTER TOASTING PANINE STYLE, MORE MELTED CHEESE AND HAM. Fries were great and crunchy but that's a frozen product. We ordered the rice and black beans and no flavor just plain . I had to ask for salt and pepper. My Daughter got the 3 empanadas and she enjoyed them. STAFF: They get an "A" very polite and accommodating. Great service LOCATION: They have a couple of outside tables and the inside is nice . Parking is available in the municipal parking lot. On the weekends the blocks are full of people walking up and down the strip with so many restaurants to try on Main Street . Nice vibe ! Great spot for lunch! The sandwiches are really nice! Definitely recommend the pan con bistec; very tender meat. The portions are quite big and can be split for 2 if you are not a big eater. Only downside is that the sangria was based on syrup instead of red wine. read more

We ate at the Cube before a concert at the Playhouse. The place was packed with a 30 minute wait for a table. Once we were seated and our drink order was taken , everything moved quickly. The drinks were well made and had some unique cocktail combinations. I had a shrimp dish and my wife had pork . The dishes were made in a modified Cuban style. The food was flavorful and the portions were large. The food was highly salted which has not been our past experience with Cuban food. The wait staff were attentive and professional. It would be unfair to judge this restaurant on one visit under unusual circumstances. We will give it another try . read more
