We decided to try this spot because the weather was perfect for a rooftop dinner, and it definitely delivered on atmosphere. The decorations leading up to the rooftop and on the rooftop itself were fun and colorful; plenty of photo opportunities. They even had live entertainment, and the singer added a really nice touch to the night. The staff were friendly, attentive, and very professional. Where things fell short for me was the food. I was excited since I love Mexican cuisine, but my tacos were dry and bland. I still ate them, but I expected more flavor. On top of that, my order was mixed up, and I received the wrong taco at first--though to be fair, the waiter quickly made up for the mistake. My husband ordered the enchilada and wasn't impressed either. The kids' menu could use improvement too. It only had three options, and they were already out of chicken. For a restaurant of this size, I'd expect better inventory management--especially for basic items. Overall, the rooftop vibes, service, margarita and entertainment made the evening enjoyable, but the food itself left a lot to be desired. Came here recently on a Saturday night for a friend's partner's 50th birthday and they had a section of the top floor sectioned off for the group. We had two long tables and had about 10 place settings at each. The food just kept coming out! We noshed on empanadas, tacos, nachos and quesadillas. We were also given two drink tickets each. Love this place! I stopped in for dinner and tried the pina coladas, salsa, guacamole and enchiladas. Everything was delicious. We also ordered the elote and birria tacos. All of the food was very fresh and flavorful. I would definitely order all of these food options again; I'd like to try out more of the menu next time though. Roof Taco recently opened; they have a downstairs restaurant area, upstairs bar and dining room and outdoor roof space. This would be a great place to have a nice dinner or a party. The staff was friendly and attentive. I got here around 4, which is when the upstairs opens for dinner. By the time I left around 6:30 it was more crowded. I highly recommend this place! Entrees and service were great! The guacamole was made tableside which was a fun experience but it was nearly $20 and was lacking in flavor to me. The rooftop was decorated and fun to sit out there on a warm summer night. The margarita selection was great too, and the drink sizes are generous. I'm struggling to determine whether Roof Taco is an entirely new restaurant or just a facelift of the previous tenant, Salsa Picante. Outside of the name, everything seems pretty much the same - the url for the online ordering platform still even says the old name. Still, the menu is slightly different and it's been a few years since I've reviewed this spot, so it's due for an update. White Plains has no shortage of Mexican restaurants - I can name at least three others. SP/RT opened a few years ago and I always gravitated to this one due to the good food and aesthetics; the restaurant is decorated ornately without being too tacky, and they have two floors of dining area including outdoor rooftop space. The food has always been solid here - it's nothing too out of this world, but everything I've had has been tasty; I'm a fan of their burritos and tacos. Since the changeover to RT, I've noticed a revamp of the menu - the most notable change is that they used to have several combination platters and appetizers which are now gone. Kinda said since I was a fan of them, but change is inevitable. Service is friendly for the most part, though it's been a while since I've sit in the restaurant - I mostly do take-out. Even when picking up though, food has mostly been ready on time and service was efficient. Overall, Salsa Roof Picante Top is a solid Mexican restaurant on the strip, and definitely comparable to the others closeby. read more

We went here last night for dinner. Unfortunately, I loved this place a year or so ago when it was Slalsa Picante and before the menu changed, but now I don't love it. The food isn't as good, and they no longer have the fish tacos I liked where the fish wasn't fried. I don't eat fried food because it's not healthy. The ambience is the same as always, and the people seem to be the same and are very nice, but the food isn't as good. The chicken fajitas aren't as good as they used to be. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be going back. It's a shame because we loved this place and the food. I'll give it a 3 for friendliness. The food was a two. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Roof Taco. Seating was very quick this Monday evening, and our waitress was very friendly and quick with our orders. The food came prompt, even though they had a decent amount of people in the restaurant. The decor was warm and inviting. The food was delicious and they give you a lot on your plate. I got beef tacos that you can assemble yourself, a nice touch for picky eaters like myself(lol). My girlfriend got the Roof Taco burrito bowl that she said was seasoned to perfection, as it comes with guac and she hates guac normally but loved the house guacamole. My organization has hosted our annual Margarita Mixer at Roof Taco (aka Salsa Picante) for several years now and it is always a hit! The rooftop setting could not be more perfect on a nice spring night, but even this year when the weather forced us inside, they were ready to accommodate with a great indoor setup. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They make me look good as the event organizer when I am really mostly just taking credit for their work. The food is yummy and they are able to offer a variety to fit dietary needs and the margaritas are just the best! Roof Taco is our go-to spot for a reason. read more

This place used to be good. Even when it was Salsa Picante, there has been a steady decline in service and quality. This evening it was not busy, probably about 5 tables at the time. Total time waited for food, 1 hour. Not acceptable by any means. Waitress was NOT attentive at all, took ZERO notice of the obvious empty alcoholic drink (they definitely lost money because I would have happily ordered more). The overall food, bland, cold tortillas for the tacos, childrens meals came out LAST.....ridiculous. As the sun went down, there was no lighting on the rooftop area, inside seemed really dark as well. It didn't look like any one person was in charge (no manager on duty ?). Overall, I would NOT recommend this place anymore. We keep trying to give them another chance, but I think they are too far gone to have any kind of redemption. Every 2 months our group gathers in a location convenient for all. We chose Roof Taco based on their on-line ad and menu. We were ushered to the roof top, but were not permitted to open umbrellas and one woman in our group must limit her exposure. They gave us 1 basked of chips for 4 hungry women. When we asked for a refill, we were told it would cost $3.50! I've never been to a place that will charge for refilling bread or chips. We finally placed our order only to be told they were out of that item, so three of us had to start over. The decor was nice, but their policies are not user-friendly.
