Be cautious if you do any online business with The Cycle Path. Last week i found a pair of handlebars on their website, placed an order, and received a confirmation email from them saying it would ship soon. A few days later I got a second email saying the price on the website was incorrect but that they would sell it for almost double what they had initially priced it at (Strike 1). I called and spoke with Matt and he told me it was a mistake on their end. I understand mistakes happen but asked if there was anything they could do. He told me he'd talk to the owner and have him call me the next day. The owner did not call me back (strike 2) but Matt did and told me there was nothing he could do. I assumed they would at least offer it at a few dollars off of retail, but no, he was adamant that it would be the full amt. He asked me if I wanted to cancel the order on my Amex. I told him I needed to think about it. After I got off the phone I immediately saw an email cancellation on the card even though I hadn't agreed to it. (strike 3) A buddy of mine that I shared this with told me they now had the bars on their site for $260. Very pricey, but less than what they were asking me. I figured why not take a shot and placed the order. Same situation though - I got a call back, it was someone else's fault that runs the website, etc etc. They need to find a better person to manage the website. Pretty much your "ride"-of-the-mill bike shop. Located roughly between Davidson and Cornelius they have found an ideal location for feeding the local [supposedly] bicycle-friendly community. Prices are high and only high-end road and mountain bikes are sold here. Though high, it can be considered standard for a bike shop. The staff is friendly and fairly helpful. I asked about having them tap holes for a bottle-holder rack and they were willing to do it, despite how random of an implement that may be. Cycling friends have had some good stuff to say about the place. They say the same as me - "it's just the usual". Of course my cycling crew is more the hipster crowd and not so much the mainstream road warrior bunch. We look for more vintage steel and leather rather than high speed carbon and nylon. All in all the guys in here seem pretty chill, open-minded and not uptight. Oddly enough I don't see a lot of people here even though Davidson is just right there. This place really knows how to fix bikes and get it done fast . I came here to get my bike brakes fixed and some other tricky things done a couple of months ago . I have an electric bike so many bike shops think it's complicated to work on . Not this bike shop ! I was so impressed with how much they knew and how fast the guy was . He said he was an auto mechanic before ,so that explains it . I forgot to write a review so I'm writing one now before i forget . I called today because I took my bike somewhere else to get new tires on and they put the tire on crooked . I called this place to get it fixed and they said bring it in we will take care of it ! They are so willing to help and very knowledgeable! It's a little bit of a drive for me , but I will go out of my way next time so I don't end up taking my bike in to fix another bike company's mistake . Highly recommend! read more

Evan the store manager spent 45 minutes with us, taking us through some beginner tips and tricks. I got my first mountain bike here and have been going there ever since, their bike repairs are reliable and fast. I went in there to get my rear de-railer fixed and it was done in a bout a minute and only costed five dollars, I haven't had a problem with it since. I went in their after I had almost destroyed my bike in an accident and they fixed t within about two and a half weeks and they even power washed my bike for me making it look and run like it was brand new. I waited inside by the counter for about 4 mins before one of the 4 people inside finally acknowleged my existence. I told them the part I needed and he had no clue of what the part was ? I needed my 80s Dahon Classic folding bike's brake drum looked at and possibly serviced. I couldn't find a Dahon dealer in this area and was not sure if any of the bike shops would bother taking a look at it since it's not a very common bicycle but this shop was recommended to me by a few folks so I stopped in to give it a shot. Marked helped us upon entering the shop. He was very helpful, honest, humble and knew his craft. No more than 30 minutes later, my bike was good to go :) Mark mentioned the shop occasionally gets a few folding bikes in to be serviced so this is my definite go to. I just picked up my bike from being serviced at cycle path and it looks fantastic, it hasn't been this clean since I bought it. I mountain bike about 20 to 25 miles per week. It was due for servicing. They turned it around in three days and I was still able to bike during the week. Their fees were very reasonable, more importantly the problem I had with my gears was resolved with their simple tune up. I just had the most wonderful experience at the cycle path. I made a decision to finally get myself an e bike. It was a huge decision for me, but I finally pulled the trigger. I am 66 and there is no time like the present. I went into the Cycle Path to have my grandsons bike tire repaired and started to talk to Rob about my desire for an e bike. After talking and him letting me ride an e bike in the parking lot, I told him I was almost sure this was going to be a done deal. He showed me what bike would be best suited for me. He did not over sell me. I left and told him I would be back as soon as I found the$$$. I went back 2 days later and ordered my new bike. I was so excited, you would think it was my first bike. Yesterday I went and picked up my bike. I took it for a test ride and even though it was freezing and windy, I had a smile on my face the whole time. I was in the market for a new MTB. Evan posted a special opportunity to (free) demo new bikes during a week in December.... unfortunately, it rained the whole week, and there weren't any chances to get out on the trails. Mark and Evan arranged for me to do a weekend's rental/demo for the price of one day. Getting a chance to ride real trails (not just parking lot), and for more than one day was essential for me to make a decision on the right bike. I decided to purchase and was guided through a multi-step fitting process. There were offers for additional accessories (shoe wedges, saddle change, etc.), but zero pressure. The shop offers 3 future tune ups at no charge. I am very happy with my bike, and with the purchase experience. After experiences at both "good" shops and "bad", I have no problem rating this one as "GOOD"! My only complaint is missing parts (grips, integrated tools) that Specialized failed to send with the bike order. The Cycle Path quickly made arrangements to obtain these for me. read more

I live South of Huntersville but still consider The Cycle Path in Cornelius, NC to be my local bike shop. I would describe myself as a long distance trail, touring, or adventure cyclist; as such, my equipment interests fall at various places between the typical road cyclist or mountain biker. My old crosstrail 29er (21,000+ miles) is now equipped with a Shimano 11 spd internal geared hub and my 2014 AWOL (7,500+ miles) has a similar Shimano hub with di2 shifting and belt drive. These two bikes alone have generated unusual build and maintenance issues. The Cycle Path staff is always willing to take the time to help me find solutions to any unusual problems. To help you decide what your own cycling needs are the shop has a range of new model rental bikes. I recently took one of the new 650b x 3.0 Fuse models out for several days. This convinced me that a bike of this type deserves serious consideration as a long distance trail bike; it was just so comfortable on the ruts and washes that develop on winter trails. You can't get this kind of experience with a parking lot or neighborhood test ride. I highly recommend The Cycle Path if you're interested in Specialized bikes or have general repair needs. read more

I came in for a tune up. I struggled to get the bike out of my car and into the shop. After the tune up, I again struggled to get my bike out the door and then into my car. The owner just watched me and didn't offer any help. The tune up was fine. I have another bike that needs a tune up and I'm looking elsewhere.
