If you haven't tried Moonrise Bagels up until now (like me a few days ago heehee) um, what are you doing? Imagine a pizza pocket (what a throwback) except it's a bagel pizza pocket, or even better, a stuffed bagel. With pizza inside. I mean, if that's what you end up ordering (which you totally should because you really must). I ordered the stuffed sesame bagel with pizza that comes with a ranch sauce. I personally hate ranch. This tastes NOTHING like ranch which is what makes it even more incredible. I also got the vegan egg and sausage bagel. Let's pause here for a moment. You heard me say it right, the VEGAN stuffed bagel. This was FIRE. Not more fire than their mooney sauce. I highly recommend doing the everything bagel on the outer part which will pair sooooo good with this stuffed bagel. The mooney sauce has me on a chokehold. What is it? Nothing more and nothing less than their super secret awesome sauce. If you're craving the classic bagel with cream cheese feel, you must order their little bagel tots that come with cream cheese and you dip them like little tots/fries. So good and perfect for sharing. I will say, if you want to leave stuffed with stuffed bagels, you can't show up when they're sold out so plan ahead. Come early. I think the earlier the better especially for the freshly baked effect and the perfect bagel pull. Other than that, I'm so happy I finally got to try this place, they have another location in Woodstock and recently in NYC (where you know they for sure have a good line). Thirsty? The total was $45 which at first I thought was a little steep but when we got our to-go order and saw the sizes I was blown away. These subs are MASSIVE. And DELICIOUS!!! I could barely finish half of a half at first. I had the rest for dinner and then shared the other half for lunch today. It's a sweet spot to stop for a quick bite on the way or to take on the road with you. They also have pizza by the slice for an even quicker option which can be taken on the road or they have a few tables to dine at. That being said, it is considered to be one of the treasures on this side of Kingston, NY on Route 28 and what it lacks in atmos, it makes up for in true star quality. This isn't my fave and thin, Patsy's Pizzeria in E. Harlem- but Steve's certainly does the job. Plus, these folks use FRESH mushroom and not canned crap for crying out loud. In all the years we've driven by here to head to Woodstock, I almost felt embarrassed that we've never noticed. But I picked up a plain slice and a mushroom in the middle of the afternoon since I was in the area already. You know how you go to some pizza shop and the pizza looks scraggly and almost dried because they've been sitting out all day? These don't. While they are placed on the partitioned glass shelf, somehow, Steve's pizza looks fresh and the finished product, tastes even better. In the 10 or so minutes it took me to get home, our 2 slices were still hot and traveled well. It's a bit doughy than what I like but it hit the spot. Also, please know that I will be contacting the BBB, making an entire post about it on the Wallkill/Walden Facebook groups and Neighborhoods.
