    Vodka martini

No-nonsense saloon. You stand and drink. Or you grab one of two window side tables and enjoy the view. Service was fast and attentive. My martini was excellent. Not a bad way to end a day at the beach.

Interesting bar in a sea of restaurants on PCH. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. I love that it is a true bar in an area where there are no others. I have generally enjoyed my time here but the place could use a facelift and some friendlier staff. The bar itself feels like it is need of a deep clean. From the upholstered bench seats to the bathroom to the stockroom that you can see from the bar when the door is open ... there are many areas that could be improved to freshen up the overall feel. I get that it's a "saloon" but it could be a cleaner, more comfortable saloon. The bartenders usually seem unhappy and aren't friendly unless you are a regular whom they recognize ... or the owners, who were there late one afternoon. I will say the patrons are very friendly and almost always strike up conversations with new people or groups at the bar. And I love the two little tables in the front windows. I really want to love this place and am super happy they are still here since they were closed for many months. But I find that I now go in with lower expectations than I first had years ago.

Started off with a mule and then my phone died

This was the next stop on our bucket list of gems to visit and one of our favorite places to visit. My friend and I started off with two mules and sat down at a booth. Both drinks costs us $13 together which was a pleasant surprise. One of the local Saloon goers told us this is where all the locals drink for cheap. After our first drinks our friend met up with us and we all ordered another round. This time I got their house pineapple vodka which was amazing! My friend got another mule, and my other friend got himself an old fashion. It was a lot of fun and we'll definitely be coming back!

The owner served us initially, and he was really friendly and funny. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some cocktails. We put in some salads and an appetizer, they were really really good. But after that, our server (the owner we were told) left, and another server introduced himself. The new server was inattentive. He sat chatting with the other servers at the bar, leaving empty glasses and empty plates on the table. We had to flag him to come back to fill water. Having been myself in the service industry for years, my biggest pet peeve is when servers sit and chat where you can see them, and when they do come, they don't do a sweep and take care of things on the table. We had to put our empty glasses and trash on a side table. It was weird. The bolognese had hardly any meat in it. It was mostly tomato and onion. I've been to Argentina. Meat is a staple. Also weird. We ordered dessert and after waiting for 5-10 minutes, the server came back and told us they were missing crucial ingredients to make it. The owner came back at the end and was really gracious, but all in all, I think the execution was lacking. The service was not great. The food was 3.5/5 I love to support small business, perhaps we will try again another night.

Food and drinks were excellent, and the staff was friendly overall. Our waitress was a bit slow, though, even though it wasn't busy during our 3:30 p.m. "Linner" reservation. I ordered the Curry Pineapple Fried Rice, which comes with homemade portuguese sausage and shrimp. Because of a shellfish allergy, I asked if the shrimp could be modified to chicken without cross-contamination. The kitchen confirmed it could, so that's what I ordered. It was delicious and I'd recommend it. What disappointed me was the lack of communication and being charged an extra $6.95 to "add chicken." I didn't add anything--I substituted a less expensive protein due to a shellfish allergy. If I would have known, I would have ordered something else. The waitress should have mentioned that there would be an added charge to modify. Cons: no parking, slower service and possible hidden costs without warnings Pros: great atmosphere, food and drinks.
