My husband and i stopped here to grab lunch before making the long stretch back to Denver and OMG the sweetest people work here. Our waitress was so kind and adorable. The gentleman man that was there was also very sweet. My husband got the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings and added bacon (he said 10/10) and i got the grilled chicken sandwich with the sweet potatoes fries (the cinnamon they put in the fries was extremely good) also, the restaurant it's self is ADORABLE!!!! Felt extremely welcoming. This was such a fun find to wrap up our NM camping. Kind people, good food, and $5 wine! If you are passing through the area, please stop here. You will be very happy. What a great find! It's Mothers Day and we're traveling and I didn't want to cook so I started looking. I passed up a bunch of fast food restaurants and my partner was getting hangry so this was perfect. The food was hot and fast and perfectly cooked. We decided to grab some lunch to go. We were very disappointed. The fish was soggy and not from transport, it was like it was frozen too long and had freezer burned. The onion rings were dark and tasted like the oil was old. The turkey and swiss cheese was dry and toast was burnt. The Cali burger was okay, bacon was almost burnt. The fries tasted of old oil. We didn't receive the side salad that she paid $6 for. read more

I got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and side of hatch chile. I like that charred flavor chicken and I can tell it wasn't some frozen piece of dry chicken, it was freshly cooked chicken. Service was quick! They aren't overly friendly but that's a positive note, I don't like when it's forced; they're just down to earth employees there to make sure you're fed and taken care of with a decent meal on the road. I like that the restroom has wipes, spray freshener, & essentials for menstruation. Oh yes, I forgot to mention they were in the middle of packing meals for fire fighters! Such a thoughtful and helpful business to take on such a huge responsibility. Again, I wasn't upset about the service and I found it to be positive that their friendliness wasn't over-the-top. It was just right! Everyone was helpful too, it wasn't one person to one section. Everyone was willing to help and check in to make sure we were enjoying our meals or ask if we needed anything else. We live about 40 miles away from this great restaurant, and have never been disappointed with their offerings. It's just a great little family-run joint that is well worth going out of your way. They serve their breakfast offerings all day, and have many other lunch/dinner options that always hit the spot. (I love their sub!) All in all, a great place to eat. read more

This was a total last minute decision that turned out to be a real find. We were hungry on a trip from Albuquerque to North Colorado so looked for restaurants in Springer. This seemed liked the best choice so we made the trip down through this very old, little town. The Depot was far N end of the main drag but easy to recognize. Very pleasant young hostess, server immediately made us happy we decided to stop here. Great food, rustic old depot ambiance. Both my husband and I have food allergies and they were very Knowledgeable about what we could have, and what they could provide. GF burger buns and dairy free options were not a problem and tasted very home cooked. Loved that my burger meat didn't look like it had come out of a freezer patty pack. We definitely have decided that the next trips we take up-and-down 25 into Colorado or into that area we'll include a stop there for lunch. The depot isn't one of your classical small town restaurants, but that's what makes it stand out. The staff are very friendly, family oriented with board games you can take too your table, and the food taste amazing with huge portions. Two of my favorites is the super chief patty melt which has green chili on it and the fettuccine Alfredo with steak strips.... Stopped in on our way to Angel Fire and was pleasantly surprised. Decided we had to try it when we saw they featured grass-finished, locally-sourced beef on the menu--and it was legit! The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Loved the selection of local beers and drinks. Try the Hatch Green Chili Sangria! Truly something for everyone.
